Also, when you look at the past Scream movies, each one pointed out a specific aspect of the horror genre. The original talked about horror movies in general, 2 was about horror sequels, 3 was about horror trilogies, and 4(favorite sequel) was about remakes. The rules scene in this film added nothing to the genre. When Mindy said it's about franchises now, I was like, "Duh, we've had four movies before you showed up." I've been a long-time fan of this franchise, and it's really disappointing that it's become such a parity of itself.
it is not just you. Everyone I know both young and old feel horror has been trash for the last 2-3 decades! Its sad as I love horror from the silent era through the 90s, but after that its no good
Subtle, Choice Voice. 😆 Of all the reviews I've seen of this bunk movie, yours is the best. Makes me wonder when Hollyweird will stop with these pointless reboots and sequels.
How the hell did Billy Loomis have kids? Did he just knock up some random girls in high school? Did an AI write these recent Scream movies? Sure seems like it. Maybe the next one will actually be written by a computer because it can't get any worse than any of these hacks in Hollywood now.
It might not happen because a lot of fans are pissed that Spyglass fired Melissa Barrera for voicing her thoughts on the Palestine and Gaza conflict and apparently a lot of cast members, including the director, are walking away from the film.
Of course, I had to do the appropriate thing and turn this video off so as to avoid spoilers, because I've been looking forward to _Scream VI_ for far too long. NOT!!! Glad you brought the Predator Juice for this one, Mike. 🍻
Scream 5 and 6 weren’t needed. I’m glad scream 7 is failing behind the scenes and it hasn’t been made yet. I prefer scream as a trilogy because it followed one narrative, Sydney and her mother. The killers and their motives was all based around Sydney’s mother and it came full circle and ended with scream 3.
Since the sad passing of the Legendary Wes Craven these last 2 Scream movies have been nothing more than pointless cash grabs. No Wes Craven touch. No passion. No Kevin Williamson script. Stupid ass unlikeable characters. Not even anyone you can root for. Movies are mostly just shit nowadays. Fantastic Spot on in-depth review Michael!
I wouldn't be surprised if they turn Scream 7 into a 2 hour commercial about the whole franchise. That's all it is now, showing off important Scream memorabilia, like some Home Shopping Network special.
I liked the first 3 Scream films! But I think this is a franchise like all franchises of today have ran its course. I like your rant 😂 it’s more memorable than the film itself! I love it! I saw this in the theaters, I thought this was ok but it wasn’t worth another watch. I’m a 27 year old horror fan and been one since I was 10 years old I have not been a fan of the genre for the last 6-7 years.
This film sure did suck and was filled with dumb decisions it had boring characters too these new core 4 are so boring to follow. Great review. The last scream sucked too
Didn't see 5 don't have any interest in seeing this one either it looks lame honestly it doesn't look like anything they haven't done before the first one was the best the third one i enjoyed despite it not being most favorite of the franchise the second one i Didn't care about and 4 other then the reveal of Ghostface it wasn't anything special
Yea wes craven isnt spinning in his grave hes jettisoned into space to another planet from how horror even his own been butchered beyond anything more lets appeal to gen zs and as or if not that niche groups who like garbage movies
While I do agree that the horror films released last year weren't that great, I would still rather have something than nothing. My teen years were the 80's and as much as some seem to love that genre of horror, the people in those movies were beyond stupid, notably the entire F13th franchise, it's why 2009's remake was so good, Jason hauled ass and you knew someone was fck'd. lol When Craven released Scream in 96, it was a breath of fresh air for the entire genre, more realistic and you didn't have the killer walking at a snail's pace to catch the dumbass that couldn't figure out hiding wasn't in their best interest. lol At this point though, with all questionable horror flicks being made, I think we're in another lull for awhile. Sharp as a marble, stealing that one. lol
@@michaelmenei5403 Busy time of the year so I never got around to seeing it, but I've read it was good. I'll wait for it to hit Netflix or one of the other streams I'm subbed up to. Definitely want to see it though, especially after it had good reviews from fans and critics and they're making a part two.
@@MacMc691 Definitely recommend it! Refreshing to get a new slasher especially on a holiday that doesn't normally get horror films (I know there are Thanksgiving horror films, there is just not much of them).
You 100 on all this. Totally agree. I'm 40 and been watching mostly Hammers and older films. There is statiscally more garbage films these days its objectively worse and the industry is all epsteined up and dirty.
Excellent review, I agree with pretty much everything you said. The fact that no one dies is the biggest disappointment of the movie for me.

Great review. Spot on.

The scene with the ladder across the apartments, well somebody saw Judgement Night 😏
I actually enjoyed this movie; I think it was one of the best horror films of 2023. Still a great review, keep up the good work.
I've only ever seen the first three scream movies.
Suspension of disbelief is no longer required to fully appreciate a movie. Suspension of logic, critical sense and intelligence, on the other hand...
Chad and Mindi were stabbed many times in the last film and were fine as well. they are not human!
MUTANTS!
This movie was a train wreck
Man, ur not joking about stab speed
I heard that Scream 7 is going to be a reboot.
...Great.

And of course Ghostface goes to New York because Jason did it. Way to be "inventive" Scream franchise 😏

Same. First 3 are good, don't care about the rest.
I like the 1st and 3rd after that none

Bet you’re glad Scream 7 got canned after the lead stars and the director quitting LOL
But you know that they'll still make another one.
Never knew that. But considering how successful this one was it wouldn't surprise me if they make another one
not as bad as 5 in my opinion but still pure trash
I'm so glad I went to see 65 over this. Lol.
Unpopular Opinion: I actually liked that film.
