Nav, Big Sean, and G-eazy are in the same bracket. They’e got some bangers and are lyrically better than Lil Yachty and Lil Pump, but they do not draw in and connect to the audience like Kendrick, J. Cole, and heck even Drake.

G-Eazy is both wack and cringey as fuck and is honestly only famous because of corny ass white people who don't know or care about real hip hop talent or the culture at all (e.g. Riff Raff) and really just want a rapper with a white face and sound they can relate to. Honestly ask yourself, have you ever heard a white rapper you couldn't almost immediately Identity as White just by their voice and how they speak? And I'd say 8/10 times they sound corny and too proper with barely any flow or rythim compared to even just many average black men in America who listen to hip hop. But before some snowflake white people cry racism or whatever about what I'm saying, It has way more to do with culture than it ever has race. "Rapping" didn't just come from black people, but was born out of the cultures of some of the roughest projects of NY and Philly. It's not just about Black rappers having a "Blaccent" but it's our whole cultural attitude, experiences, swag/style, the way we speak, act and live our lives which is culturally i.e. naturally inherent to us as Blacks in America today. We don't have to research and emulate the culture like white rappers like G-Eazy and just general "Wiggas" do. We are the culture and always have been. Black America is culturally very different (sometimes even almost seems opposite) to average suburban/rural white American culture. Just as you'd probably rightfully expect the best Inuit Indian throat singers to be well... Inuit indian. As that form of music obviously was born out of their unique culture. It's the same with Blacks and hip hop. It's in our souls.

I totally disagree that he "doesn't have a sound." The beats that he raps/sings over are all over the place, but thats actually a good thing, because if all the music was the same, people would be whining about how all his songs sound the same... But when he starts rapping, you cant tell its him. I cant tell the difference between some of these kids who all the same, rae sremmurd or ayo and teo. Theres rappers who all sound the same, thats why they gotta announce who they are.
Obviously, hes getting hate for his lyrics because they have changed. I think hes being ironic when you say hes forcing it... In the clip you played, he actually says "corny" hes making fun of his haters, if you cant get that, youre crazy. Half of the popular rappers all talk about the same things over and over, at this point, G is just playing off that and almost laughing at people, because theres so many girls he could steal.

Majed Shereshevskaya Honestly how the hell does this comment have so many likes? People actually like that bullshit? How someone can enjoy that "I swear it was an accident" shit honestly baffles me. Was it Creative? Funny? Did it sound good at all? No, no and no. It was cringey corny trash. G-Eazy is both wack and cringey as fuck and is honestly only famous because of corny ass white people who don't know or care about real hip hop talent or the culture at all (e.g. Riff Raff) and really just want a rapper with a white face and sound that suburban white kids can identify with. Honestly ask yourself, have you ever heard a white rapper you couldn't almost immediately Identity as White just by their voice and how they speak? And I'd say 8/10 of the time they sound corny as hell and too proper with barely any flow or rythim compared to even just many average black men in America who listen to hip hop. But before some snowflake white people cry racism or whatever about what I'm saying, It has way more to do with culture than it does race. Its part of our culture and life. It's in our souls.

Do people hate G-Eazy or are they just indifferent? He's not a bad rapper like 21 Savage or Lil Yacthy, he's not a good rapper like Em or Kendrick. He's just your basic soundcloud rapper with a basic flow but for some reason he's big as fuck.

I honestly like him. I like him more than most of the other white rappers out there. Sure yes, he has some wack songs, but every rapper has a wack song here or there. I also don't agree with your opinion on the "when it's dark out" album. That album introduced me to his music and it was real nice. Bangers like random, one of them, and don't let me go are my favorites for me at the moment. I also think he does have a sound so I don't know why you would say he doesn't. Based off on what I've heard, his sound is a mixture of dark melody beats I think (could be wrong). Overall, I mostly disagree with this entire video. I see him way better than NF and token, but not better than Eminem.

These Things Happen is my favorite G-Eazy album. I liked all the songs on TTA (except Lotta That) and in my opinion When It's Dark Out I didn't like all the songs and same with The Beautiful & Damned. I like a lot more songs on that album than WIDO. To me the order is These Things Happen, The Beautiful & Damned, When It's Dark Out.

  • @laurenlei808

I didn’t listen to him whatsoever until he started dating Halsey and then they put out Him & I. I agree that a lot of his lyrics have some unoriginal themes and corny lyrics but he definitely has a lot of good songs, too. And, I really like his voice and accent. Ofc, I haven’t listened to much rap and I’m sure that means I don’t have a good idea of rap in general.
I like when he brings up the concept that he’s a Gemini and has split personalities-or even when he discusses mental illness at all because that topic really hasn’t gotten enough attention yet.

Honestly, this is the same scenario/outcome we see in every 'Dream Career field' across the board; Professional Athletes, Musicians, Actors/Actresses, Politicians, etc. The vast majority of them have a similar story. They grew up emulating the NBA players they watched on T.V. With an unconditional hope that only exists in a Childhood Dream. By highschool they knew the importance of this dream in regards to their future(s) and as such maintained the discipline to do whatever it took to make it to the next level. Not only is the pressure, competition & pace of the game getting increasingly intense, but the 'team cuts' get more stressful. Only 3% of High school basketball players go on to play NCAA. As a result you are no longer competing with just your opponents, but also now with your teammates as well. In highschool you could see the dream and even reach out to touch it but in college, your lifelong childhood dream is so close you can taste it. You practice harder and play harder than you ever have. You leave every ounce of energy, desire and passion out on that court because only 1% of NCAA collegiate athletes go on to play NBA/WNBA. Every practice, every game, every uniform stain, every tear, every sacrifice, every doubt, every injury, every drip of sweat, every 5AM practice, every 3-a-days led up to this moment. Their name being announced at the NBA/WNBA annual draft. They want to ensure stability for their lives/families and the only way to do that is to make yourself obsolete…to make yourself indisposable. By this time they have proven that they are undoubtedly one of the best and as such earned the recognition and respect they deserve. With all that being said, do you ever notice how slow the NBA seems at times? Or how it predominantly consists of Offense vs. Offense with limited→no defense in sight? This is due to a simple concept; THE MOTIVATION TO FIGHT FOR SOMETHING YOU WANT BUT DON'T HAVE is much more easily found than THE MOTIVATION TO KEEP SOMETHING YOU ALREADY ATTAINED. The pressure of a debut album is a make or break circumstance. Being meticulously particular about each and every song that makes the final cut. Where as a sophomore or junior album is often times more heavily controlled by the record label vs. the artist. Add that to the mounting pressure to release music to this newly established fan base and you get an inauthentic threw together in a rush album more focused on the tour than the music itself. I love G Eazy and I'm from the Bay so I'd be a disgrace to my own if I shaded someone that put us on the map. With that being said, I'm always going to give an honest opinion regardless. I think its of importance to discuss all of the factors other than just the artist themselves that collectively effect the music he releases.
