Always loved Kyle Ren’s design, and this figure looks great. Ignoring my thoughts on how the trilogy played out after what I considered a promising first movie, it was always hard to try and say the costume designs weren’t good. They really killed it in that department at least, so we’ve got some great products like this figure.
Not here to talk about the films, just the figure, which is badass!

Hands down the best character in the new trilogy.
Both of the headsculps are amazing.
There is actually an opening underneath the cape where you can shove a wire in it to make more awesome poses!

Im excited for my pre-order to arrive! I actually like that his tunic flares out the way it does, its reminiscent of samurais and if kylo's character is an aspiring vader then his outfit really suits his character since vaders mask is based off a samurai helmet

The newer head sculpt is definitely better! Love how the helmet light pulsates.
I’ve also never been a fan of the HT lighted sabers, which is why I’m not even batting a lash to the fact that Mando Ahsoka doesn’t come with one. 3rd party is always a better choice for that-

I've been waiting for Hot Toys to release Supreme Leader Kylo Ren ever since it's been revealed. It took them time and the final product doesn't disappoint me(in my opinion).

I think the sculpts/hair really fit their sepcific movie. Really cool to see Hot Toys being able to show that difference even for how subtle it is.

Both sculpts are awesome IMO, just a matter of which hairstyle you prefer. Can't go wrong with Kylo. I might have to pick up that new helmet. The included neck makes it look like a neat statue type display that I could use to recreate his meditation room

As a sequel trilogy fan, this figure is gonna probably be the centerpiece of my collection along with Rey 🔥 The figure’s body proportions look super accurate compared to the TLJ figure that appeared a bit skinny in my opinion. And the head sculpt is just as good! Just amazing.

Thanks for this review. I was on the fence due to the head sculpt but you just flipped me over to the dark side! Wondering if you think it's possible to put the head sculpt on the Force Awakens figure?

How do you decide whether to choose the masked or unmasked head sculpt in the display?
I went with helmet, but it was a hard choice!
I personally prefer the Adam Driver head sculpt of this figure compared to the TLJ version. However, both head sculpts look good in my opinion.

So glad this came out this great. I appreciate for the helmet they used a fabric piece for the neck as opposed to TLJ one. The neck on TLv made it a pain to use and was too wide for the collar. At least on mine. Absolute home run with this imo. I prefer this headsculpt too

Thanks a lot for this review! Yours are always very in-depth and honest! Gotta say that even if it's really similar to the TLJ version I'll try to pick this one up as well as I'm just such a big fan of Kylo. Both the sculpt *and* the proportions kinda look better on the TROS one but I can't excactly put my finger on why that is - so it's worth picking up as a 2nd or 3rd Kylo Ren. The light up helmet looks really cool but I agree with the lightsaber not being the best. If it wasn't so weak in lighting and difficult to put on I'd like and use it a lot more. (Man, I wish the TFA one came with a head sculpt as well...)
Also, thanks for keeping your opinions neutral on the movie and calling people out to not jump on the Sequels hate-train, I appreciate that as a fan of the ST.

Wow, the head sculpt looks so much better here than in the official promo photos. I hate look of the cape on both RoS and TLJ figures though. I just don't like the reflective texture look of the material and it looks too thick to me. TFA version still the fav for me, I still want to find an Adam Driver head for it though!

I'm not a huge fan of the sequels but I do think it's cool that Kylo basically wears a tabard. It's fitting because it was worn by knights and Kylo is a Knight of Ren!

Hello, I would like to know what material the cape is made of? I would like to acquire this figure, but I don't know if the cape is made of leather, and because of what I have looked for this material requires special care and I would like to avoid figures with leather as I don't think I can take care of them properly.

Hey Justin - absolutely love your reviews and always come to them. I'm hoping you can answer this - did you ever find a way (type of batteries, I guess?) to keep his Helmet lit up for long periods at a time? All the batteries I find last about 10 minutes before dying. Appreciate any advice.

Awesome review Justin. At first glance seeing the headsculpts side by side during your review, I thought the previous version looks better. But I have to see the new one on hand to make my final judgement.
I do like the longer robe though. Kylo looks more menacing in it. That's what I think at least. Like you said, art is subjective.

Agree with u on the head sculpt. Before u mentioned which u liked better when put em side by side I was thinking same thing as u. Like the newer head sculpt better. As u mentioned the hair in his face does make a huge difference for me on which I liked better. Not sure if it is the hair thing but it seems his features are little better on new one. But maybe it just seems that way with way hair was sitting in the video. But I do agree with you on the sculpt

quick question, I may have missed this but can you put the TFA/TLJ helmet sculpt on this one's body? I personally *hated* the red cracked look on the helmet.. but the rest of the figure looks superior. I could get over it, however I would definitely prefer to swap it with the TFA or TLJ helmet sculpt if possible. Can anyone confirm if this is possible or not?

On the cusp of May the 4th...Justin is (to quote the Road Warrior), "the Ayatollah of Rock'n'Rolla" when it comes to Hot Toy reviews. I prepaid my order months ago. I cannot wait to get my hands on this figure. The glowing helmet with 2 lighting options is the coupe de grace of excellence. Any news if Hot Toys fixed that awful Daisy Ridley head sculpt (looks more like Evangeline Lilly) for the Rey, Rise of Skywalker hite Jedi 1/6th scale figure?
No news but I personally didn’t hate that Rey sculpt! We shall see when it drops!

I absolutely hated how he didn't wear the helmet during the fight on the Death Star ruins, I feel like it couldve helped the literal transition from Kylo back to Ben. Sick figure though

I've never been a big fan of the TLJ headsculpt, I don't particularly think the likeness is there. The new one is flawless. Also I think the flared out bottoms of the tunic are accurate to the movies. I'm not a fan of Ep 9 so I'm glad that the cape is removable so this figure can double as an Ep 8 figure.
Hopefully the final version of the Rey figure receives as much of a headsculpt glow-up from the prototype as this one did.
