+onth3hous3 Well he's a guitar player, he can play without looking if he has to. He isn't wearing headphones, so I'm guessing he can either barely hear his guitar or can't hear it at all.
+Jake Thornton while that is all true it would still be a challenge since he is only using his prior knowledge of playing the guitar only without his primary senses. It's probably a lot harder to play without occasionally looking at the placement of your hand and not hearing what you are playing to know that your hand is in the right place.
+onth3hous3 It's definitely harder, but it definitely isn't impossible. Once you play an instrument for a thousand hours you don't need to see it or hear it really. It's all muscle memory, your hands just remember.
+Jake Thornton I wasn't really looking for impossible but a definite challenge. Sure he can write a song without looking or hearing but it puts stress on his imagination because he's putting those countless practicing hours to good use. It may not even turn out how he would expect which is what I was shooting for.

I can't decide whether I like the original 9 string version or this 8 string version of the song. They are both so strong.
If you in 4 at the start of the bar at 0:57 , the 3rd beat where he bars the 7th fret, its not recorded great on the 9 string, probably coz of the size of the neck but still, id say this version is stronger

Chapman should make you personally a one of a kind 9 string. One specifically for you because i doubt they'd sell too many 9 strings, or maybe a limited time item
I think it's safe to say this is a much better version than the old version with the schecter. It just sounds a bit nicer in my opinion :) That's just my ears tho. Love this remake Rob, and thanks for being an inspiration for musicians everywhere.

Hey Rob Scallon. I'm just commenting to tell you that I love the new album. It's awesome in general. Anyhow, I noticed a slight editing problem in the finished version of this song from the album. I didn't know where to write to let you know, so i just came to the video to tell you. I'm not sure if it's an actual editing problem or it was done on purpose but as it sounds slightly different to the same riff in other parts, I suppose you didn't realize. In between minute 0:40 and 0:47 of the finished song on the album, there are very small but noticeable stops in the sound of everything. Like when there's a minuscule jump in a CD. Know what I mean?
Anyway. I'm just telling you this 'cause I heard the whole album very carefully and in detail, cause I love all your work, and I just thought I could help out a bit informing you about anything I found. Keep up the awesome work. - A big fan of yours. Mr.ToiletParty

I loved the 9 string version but I enjoyed this one a lot more, the clarity of your playing comes through a lot more and doesn't get muddied up by some of the lower end notes. Good shit Rob, can't wait to see more of this guitar!
Unless I'm forgetting something this is the hardest, heaviest thing Rob has ever put out. That riff at 0:33 is just raw. (And yes, I'm counting the 9 string. I still think this was better.)

Pick up your guitar and play it then, thats how he did it. Even if you can only play for 10 mins. Then you'll be 10 mins better than you were before you started. and keep going. If you get tired of doing it, do it again. If your fingers are in pure agony, do it again. Do it until you cant stand it anymore, then do it again.
