Since Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, announced that the company would unveil its robotaxi vehicle on the 8th of August, many analysts frowned at the idea, including Wedbush’s Dan Ives. That doesn’t mean that Ives is going bearish on Tesla; he’s still bullish, but he believes that the company should get an affordable car out there first, before it even starts thinking about robotaxis.

I totally agree Musk should focus on a $25,000 car and once that happens then launch the FSD Robo Taxi. People have been waiting for this car for a long time now. Produce the Model2 and use that money to further enhance the Robo Taxi. Look at all the miles Elon will have as more people start using the FSD version on existing cars.
The model 3 is the cheap car. Reduce pricing. Forget the model 2.
I think Ives is making a good call, even if Robotaxis are feasible (and that is by no means certain) it is years away given the technical, regulatory and legal hurdles to clear. Where does the revenue come from to fund that in the meantime if they go all in on that one product?

I respect Dan Ives immensely however the comment about 5-6 years before full autonomy with robotaxi is way off. In 5 years our entire world is going to be different because of AI

Dan Ives is right. There's no way robotaxi will happen in the next 2 years. Even if it becomes available, there are some serious adoption issues from a legal, political, social, cultural perspective. Gaining public and government trust will take a lot of time. I'm not buying into Tesla's story unless there's Model 2.
musk can mot say that model y model3 is already $25000 car or far cheaper already if time to 2025.
I think the 25k vehicle should come out first because a robotaxi has the problem with getting legislative approval to operate picking up passengers. And you know how slow our government works.
The problem is Elons only concern is share price and high margins. He will stubbornly refuse to include multiple redundancies to make autonomous vehicles safe. Planes have millions of dollars worth of radar and lidar onboarding to make their auto pilot so reliable.
This is what FUD and controlled markets looks like. Sell sell sell. So we can get some cheap Tesla.
Name any car first rollout that didn't have a bump in the road.

Tesla can't compete in China. They are toast there. They need new models, especially in China.
