NIN has never crossed my mind and I've followed them since their first album. This band was influenced and part of the alt skate punk mash up with Helmet, Taproot, Trust Company and Deftones. I think people choose who they think they (or any band) sounds like based on what they've heard or the genres they were/are into, but that was the actual circle of bands/influences they came from and toured with.
For me, Peter doesn't sound like Maynard. Peter uses the same style of singing and cadences that make him sound like Maynard. Their voices are not interchangeable at all but they both have the same vibe and harmony with different qualities. I will throw you one song from each album to give you a broader idea of their progression and range. 1st Album - Point No.1 - Dos *1999* 2nd Album - Wonder What's Next - An Evening With El Diablo *2002* 3rd Album - This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) - Bend The Bracket *2004* 4th Album - Vena Sera - I Get It *2007* 5th Album - Sci -Fi Crimes - This Circus *2009* 6th Album - Hats Off To The Bull - The Meddler *2011* 7th Album - La Gargola - Choking Game - *2014* 8th Album - The North Corridor - A Miracle *2016* 9th Album - NIRATIAS - So Long, Mother Earth *2021* Rare Track 1 - Until You're Reformed *2002* Rare Track 2 - In Debt to the Earth *2007*

So many lines to break down in this song, it's deeper than just heavy rock/alternative. This is when rock could still be amazing "mainstream" imho
Check out envy from this album, amazing song. No music video and wasnt a single but so good
I don't really hear Maynard with them. I did a little when I first started listening to them, but I don't anymore.
If you like the bass, then listen to Evening with El Diablo!!!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Pete Loeffler looks a lot like Mark Wallberg XD
So what you really mean is Muse is very chavelle.
Snarky comments have 0 impact when you don’t remember anything that was said in the video 😂
