- Do I need an LLC for my clothing store? Today we will cover the licenses and permits needed for a clothing store.
It is important that you understand how to legally start a clothing line. I'm sharing a few examples of what happens when you DON"T run your business legally!
You will need a reseller permit for online business. This can also be called seller's permit and is a must if you want to register for wholesale clothing vendors website.
As we move through the steps to open a clothing business online, you will need to consider registering your boutique, obtaining an EIN number, and your seller permit in order to sell clothes online. We'll also take a look at sole proprietorship vs LLC for online retail. We'll set you up with the best business structure for online retail.

Is a business license the same exact thing as an LLC? Is a resale tax certificate synonymous with a resellers permit? Please help me because I can’t seem to distinguish some of the legal terms
Yes! You are correct about both. The reason the terms vary is because some states call it one thing and other states call it something else. sorry for the confusion!

What’s the difference between a sellers permit and a business license ?
In many states you will be obtain a business license to sell. For example in Georgia:
The main state-level permit or license in Georgia is the seller’s permit.
You must obtain a seller's permit if you:
-Are engaged in business in Georgia
-Intend to sell or lease goods or services subject to sales tax.

I ended up starting an LLC in PA selling print on demand products of my art… I’m confused if I have to get a sellers permit or just charge no tax (through Shopify) I don’t make much money selling as I’m just starting out and I heard that you don’t need to charge tax unless you make over a certain amount??? Is this true ?
@@DioSuonatore if you make over $600 in a year than you have to pay taxes on it. That’s why Venmo,PayPal, and cashapp changed some things this year. You don’t necessarily need to charge taxes as a seperate price but you can include it in the price of the item. You should set 15% of the income aside for taxes.

how can you check if your name is available in your state? I got my LLC but I didn't check that the name was available so I just assumed.

no, you file as a sole proprietor

I don't have much experience with business loans. I would imagine it would make sense to do it before, but you might want to consult an expert or accountant for more info!

yes, I think you hear more about the large scale raids, but it can happen to anyone! I admit I see small stores selling these items all the time. it is up to you what you are willing to risk.
