Ugh YES! to when you broke down how to price things. It makes since how these high and luxury brands are so high. (Quality material and labor of 50+ people). People don’t realize how many people are putting in labor for these fashion companies. At least those who are paying everyone fairly. At first I thought of pricing things based on how much I would pay for something but it’s not always that easy. You explained so well.

It is not a norm in luxury brands (like chanel , Louis vuitton,..) when artisans and "dress maker"(i don't know if it is the right term) are paid a little more than the minimum wage even if they have a real savoir faire.
I just created a sustainable french fashion brand called Maya Litzia if there's someone interesting. For the moment it is just me but I hope it will develop well.

Most of those brands make you pay for their name not so much the quality or the cost , many also will hide their unethical ways for instance Prada used illegal immigrants in Italian factories in order to not have to pay them properly.

You gave so many great tips! You were well organized, brief, and to the point. My husband and I started a small business too, Allain Custom Leather, a few months ago. Mainly made to order so we don't have the annoyance of inventory. His pieces can take up to 4 days to complete. He retired last year, so we have a few more years of life experience than you, but as far as everything else you presented in your video, you are miles ahead of us! Starting small in your home is a wonderful idea that can work for so many new entrepreneurs (we have our studio at home too). I started following your channel because I love to sew and wonder what I would be doing now if I had stayed with fashion design in college. In my middle age I am finely getting to do what you are able to do so early in your life.

I loved the video! I also have a small ethical clothing business but I never went to fashion school or anything, so it's pretty scary for me. I just love fashion. I wanted to point out that Limiting Beliefs is a psychological term: Limiting beliefs are thoughts, opinions that one believes to be the absolute truth. They tend to have a negative impact on one's life by stopping them from moving forward and growing on a personal and professional level. Like, "I can't do this because I didn't study fashion," would be a limiting belief of mine.

But yeah this is great advice for like any buisiness! I also wanna add a lil tip for any one : I HIGHLY recommend using legal zoom to handle the legal parts of getting set up and paying for their tax plan - it comes with unlimited tax advisor calls, and QuickBooks, and you have a professional filing your quarterly taxes. It’s great for egg heads like me who are good at GAME design. And only that lol. I enjoy the peace of mind of not worrying about doing my taxes wrong.

I watched 4-5 videos in a row and I’m really inspired by you and thanks a lot for sharing so much info with us ,it’s greatly helpful especially for the ones who want to start their business. I’m still in the 3rd year of my fashion degree and you know sometimes we go through such kinda time where we get so much demotivated and stuff like that and we want that dose of motivation , that’s how your videos are working for me . You’re doing great . ❤️ keep it up . Love from Pakistan .

Thank you so much for this! There aren’t as many fashion small businesses around RUclips. I am still in highschool but I really want to have my own fashion business. I am just so passionate in it and want to make my own clothing line that is very unique to my style.

Your content is extraordinary and very encouraging. You really deserve lots of success!! You just got me confused with the 150% profit. I think that's unrealistic. I think you wanted to say 1/4. Because that's usually the profit margin. Also your profit would be your labor cost, because you are producing yourself, so it is already included. What you probably missed are other costs like marketing and advertising.

I literally just stumbled upon your channel and this video as I was watching crochet videos and artsy craft things. I just wanted to say thank you. I’m turning 24 pretty soon and yeah I’m also young but that clock is TICKING girl. Every year it feels like it’s getting louder. I’m in the same boat if I want to have my own business, but there’s just so many BUTS. But I’m not financially stable. But I’m not good enough. But what if people don’t like it. But what if I fail. But then there’s this one but. But what if it succeeds? I have a plethora of ideas for a business. I am a jack of all trades master of none kind of person. I also love sewing, knitting, crochet. I love stickers and comics and the occult. Too many things. There’s this idea of not being original. And to any of you who read my rambling, just know and take solace in the fact that NOBODY is original. We all think the same things and regurgitate it differently. The only thing that sets us a part is our experiences and our lens on life. Nobody can be you. And that’s what makes us special.
