    Its been a year, and we'd all love to see your board setup. We'll probably all use ESP32's and ESPHOME, but your ESP8266 design would be good to see.

      Wow, time flies. Heading out on a trip in the truck, will put the video up on my to do list as I have one more fan to do :). I'm not sure why you'd use an ESP32?

    I would love to get the wiring diagram and parts list for this project. I am attempting to do the same thing and the two fans in my RV are the only things that I have not automated yet. Thanks in advance.

    Definitely interested! I need to replace the vent fans in my motorhome and this is exactly the solution I would like to implement. Liked and subbed.

    Hey Nate, do you still plan to release how to video for the hack? I am also very keen to see the wiring diagram and the code, I am running home assistant already and this hack is exactly what I have been looking for. Great work

      @@NateVolk I'm interested in this as well! I just installed two Maxxair fans in our skoolie, and I run Home Assistant to control everything else already.

    Dude you never posted any other explanation video on how to do it?

  • @bullitproofarmadillo

    I paid for a fancy one but can't figure out how to detect direction and speed state. I have a small relay board to send all momentary signals to control speed, direction, etc. Still, since control is stateless and toggles, it is impossible to put the fan in exhaust mode vs. intake. the remote can send the exact commands, but I don't want to IR blast. Any ideas? I wish i had seen your video before buying the expensive one!

      @@NateVolk hi, thanks for the response. by no means I was underestimating your knowhow. the other way is to intercept the maxxfan RF codes and retransmit them via a universal remote from within HA. you would need an RF transmitter and receiver. there is plenty out there. Logitech or broadlink

    Please share, are you you using a Tasmota device ?

    • @NateVolk
      @NateVolk  2 года назад

      This is a simple ESP8266 (D1 Mini) running ESP Home inside of Home Assistant. Tasmota is great though, just not really necessary for this build, and ESP Home now can program the devices directly though HA over usb and wifi.

      Doesn’t really apply as I’ve gotten rid of the factory circuit board that causes all the issues :)
