Great idea and must admit I do as much off of Alexa as I can. Next wee project is to automate fridge cooling fan. Another interesting vlog keep them coming.

@@lucylovitt9583 well this is a new one. A quick google seems to show the remote frequency would indeed work for this. So hopefully this is good news for you to spice up your cooking.
Brilliance again 🎉 I can’t believe you guys lol when I’m looking at doing something you find a better way lol I’ve had my head deep in to home home assistant and the cerbo gx but it’s so fiddly But like you guys I was wanting Alexa to turn my heater on and max fan
Ah cool. I did think about the cerbo and whatnot. I think they’re missing a trick to be honest. I think the cerbo should have the option out of the box for more ‘switches’. I think you can do it with the guimod.
@@WanderbusAdventures yes that’s right mate usb stick download your data from a laptop then off load it to the cerbo like you do with gui mods for the screen menu But home assistant is awkward you have to set a instance up too then the app lol I think this broadband is definitely the thing to try thanks I’ve just got the challenger ignite controller that’s a wi fi enabled controller for the diesel heater like the after burner so hoping this broadband pro works Alexa for this
Genius! I love stuff like this and have loads of smart stuff at home, all our lights at home are smart bulbs or smart switches and I’ve got a few sockets, echo dots and Sonos speakers too. Not done any in the motorhome yet though. Paul Hibbert is a regular watch on here for all that stuff. That max air fan is noisy mind isn’t it!

@@WanderbusAdventures yeah they do but at a cost and some sellers don't ship internationally.. it's a good job I have friends in the UK and USA for exporting lol 😂
I have an IR switch for my porch light, handy for finding my van in a field at night as the fob is with my keys. Not sure how I could improve it with voice though.
Can you use the switchboard or smart hub, to perform the same functions? Specifically to turn my diesel heater on in my workshop, so it is warm when I get there.
You could use the smart hub for this directly. If you get the model with the thermometer in the cable you could even program it to come on if too cold. Although that might be overkill.
With ours it seems to need a long press on the panel but not via the remote - perhaps it’s different. The key for ours though was making the Broadlink confirm the frequency as it wasn’t 433. It was slightly different. On the screen where you select that they’ll be a button at the bottom that allows the Broadlink to learn it.
@WanderbusAdventures It's do difficult to find good products that do what you need these days but if looks like you've done the hard work as you've already tried the switch bot but you found something so awesome that I have been searching for. Thsnk you very much. Have a great Christmas........Kyle, The countrywide contractor.
When setting the heater up buddy did you have to add the remote controls on IR and RF then select the remote pro but then what did you add mate? Did you look for heater or something else please this is what I’m stuck with I added the maxfan to obviously fan instead of ac Or does the diesel heater need some other switch Thanks
Hey. So when I did it I had to ensure was selecting RFF frequency. Then it will ask you the frequency of your remote. It’s sometimes written on the back. My RFF remote was 433.
How'd you get it to work with your diesel heater. I have a similar unit but as my remote requires a long press to turn on the heater the smart unit doesn't seem to be able to send an extended signal.
Hey. So not sure if it can do a long press. However ours is ‘longer’ on the controller than any other thing in our bus so there’s hope. When you ‘learn’ the buttons at the bottom there’ll be something that allows you to check the frequency. Make sure you do that as ours wasn’t 433hz - it was slightly different. After that you can add each button and it’ll remember the frequency. Hope this works for you.
Did you enter 433mhz or ask it to learn the frequency? I didn’t show this in the video, but have since learnt that diesel heaters tend to have slightly different frequency. So would recommend asking it to learn it when adding the buttons. Once you’ve done it for one button when you relearn the other buttons it’ll remember the frequency.
@WanderbusAdventures the app picks up the signal fine, although when pressing a button the heater won't acknowledge any button at all. It's 433.89 for power which the blink app accepts, although when I press a button to power diesel heater doesn't register. I've gone through all the buttons, temp up and down, on and off. Nothing
@@Wildchild121007 hmm, how odd. With this frequency it shouldn't requite line of sight, but worth checking if that's the issue? Does your diesel heater require a long press on the remote?
Two MaxxAir fans? If the BroadLink has line of sight of both it will control both as the signal is the same on the fans. This will mean they’ll be doing the same thing though. Is that what you mean Steve?
@@WanderbusAdventures I have two remotely controlled fans, not genuine Maxxair, but similar their remotes both work the other fan if they’re near enough This line of sight malarkey may be the answer thanks I want them to operate separately
