FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this final chapter, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) obtains a 70-year-old message from the time-traveling Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd), in which he informs Marty that he has retired to a small town in the Old West. Marty then finds out that the Doc was murdered shortly after sending the letter. In order to save his friend, Marty will have to travel back in time, disentangle a lovestruck Doc from a local schoolmarm, and repair the DeLorean -- all while avoiding a posse of gunslingers.

In case anyone is curious, $80 in 1885 would be the equivalent of $878 in 1985 & $2,458 in 2023.
In the old west, it was so cheap.
Yep definitely it's like in Red Dead Redemption 2 set in 1899-1907 the 150.000 that was stolen would be over 6 million today
Damn inflation
Since Buford never paid Doc, he's only out $5. Doc could have given him $10 and all this could have gone away.
The higher u get, the harder it gets. -Duke Evers.
“But it’s good to see you Marty…”
That hug tho…
This was the first time they seen each other since Marty got out to face Biff in the tunnel.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529
Oh for sure. But he was with 1955 Doc 24-36 hrs before that. Best trilogy ever.
@@camschuster5947 yes but 55 Doc and 85 Doc are 2 different personalities!! Laid back 1955 version is my favorite.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 For 85 doc, its been 8 months since he's seen marty. No wonder why he's more happy then upset. Probably the longest period of time since he's known him not to be in contact that long.
This scene is a great intro to 85 Doc in the third film; not to mention a wonderful testament to Marty’s and Doc’s friendship.
Doc's introduction in this scene is so badass! 😍
Yup
And then he did again at nobody
🙂
Doc is a badass, PERIOD
That's gotta be a Henry Rifle Doc has... I gotta get me one of those babies one day!
Since it’s brought up that Mad Dog never paid Doc for his services I’m with Doc as far as the argument is concerned. You can’t just just make people owe you money for the silliest of things and if you kill your own horse because he made you spill your drink then that’s your own fault.
The design of Doc Brown's sniper rifle is so damn glorious, I wish I could see more of it.
I wanna see it in call of duty lol
Unhooded front element out in the sun.
Contrast must be crazy bad and flare everywhere
Indeed. Its a fine piece of work.
@@LongTran-em6hc In his boots I would've painted the reticle black so it wouldn't be so shiny out in the Sun.
Just realized - this is the first time Doc Brown actually confronts one of the Tannens onscreen. He's helped Marty beat Biff multiple times, but Marty's usually the one having the actual face-offs.
It's a really nice scene. Marty always made it clear what he thought of the Tannens, but there's just something about Doc's contempt for the guy. Everything about him just screams "I can't believe I'm actually wasting my breath having a conversation with this yutz and I feel dumber just for doing it."
I watched the series as a kid, and this is my most favorite movie of all time.
I am willing to call nostalgia as a bias, but also, it remains my fav in the series for a reason, even after growing up and rewatching the trilogy.
You made a great point in what this movie does.
Seeing chum chum and fanboy talking for a few seconds made my brain cells die
@deadjuice1880 It's a time Traveling Cow Boy movie what about that is not to love? ❤
The closest contact they previously had was when Doc was riding on the bike when Biff was leaving his house in the second film
I picture Doc spending a couple of months tinkering with that rifle and practicing his aim with it. Not a man disposed to violence at all, but Doc is fiercely practical and one of the most practical things a man could do in the Old West was be good with a firearm.
Pretty much concept of that already exists by that time. He essentially took most advanced things that existed in the current present. Also he clearly had some streetwise before, judging by the twist in first movie. It was Winchester 1866. Front apertures (slightly different, i.e. an aperture with a lens and center dot instead of cross-and-circle) were known by Civil war time. Hi-Lux Optics "Wm. Malcolm" were 1850. Larger aperture telescopic sights were custom, during Civil War time less cumbersome Witworth' rifles were employed.
I also suspect that Doc had a bulletproof vest
@@EllAntares The bulletproof vest would explain the clothing choice since a steel or iron breastplate would be quite conspicuous.
You'd have to know how to shoot well back then. Not only were guns used for protection but hunting was often the only way to get food on the table unless you lived in a large city.
“I done shot that horse!” Buford is definitely the looniest Tannen. I still laugh when I hear that line. His non logical way of thinking explains a lot of his descendants’.
Tannen's descendants include Biden !!

Well that your problem, Tannen.
"but it's good to see you Marty", and then they hugged one another ❤ just brilliant 😊
Love docs modified sniper scope, clearly he’s adapted/assimilated in the Wild West.
Tom Wilson should have done more Westerns because he nailed it perfectly.
He would've made a PERFECT Quentin Turnbull if there was a Jonah Hex movie made in the '90s.
Doc: What Idiot dressed you in that outfit?
Marty: You did.
@anthonyherrera7161 That was funny since Doc was probably calling himself an idiot since his past self made Marty dress like that.
@@afriendofbean it’s was also funny the way Doc asked it. Marty turned around with a grin saying “you do!” Wish we got to see Docs reaction at the end haha I can only imagine
@@anthonyherrera7161 I think the reason why Marty grinned like that when saying "you did" is because he was still very shaken up from the confrontation from Buford Tannen and he was still trying to catch his breath since he was hanging for at least 10 seconds. Maybe the reason we didn't see Doc's reaction is because Doc understood that he and Marty were in 1955 and Marty most likely talked to Doc's past self.
"WELL THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM, TANNEN!!!"

1:02 Michael J. Fox was suffocating for real
The mechanism that was supposed to hold him broke down, and so he got hanged for real, to the point that he passed out
Damn. When I watched the scene, I was impressed with how realistic it looked to the point where Marty even sounded hoarse afterwards. I guess now I know why
wait a minute... mj fox had his parkinsons started in 1991 could this accident on the set in 1990 set it off????

I just got the connection between the first movie and the third!!!!!!!!!!!
In the first movie, the joke is that Biff spilled his beer while crashing the car….he was drunk driving
In this movie Buford’s horse threw a shoe while he was riding around drinking a bottle of whiskey
I have seen all of these movies at least 20 times each and today is the first time I ever made that connection.
Priceless!!!!!!
There's a great theory video about how Biff's goons spiking the punch with whiskey at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance gave George the liquid courage to KO Biff.
@@RoosterMontgomeryand probably to kiss Lorraine
When the hell did Biff crash his car from drunk driving in the first movie?????
@@zanthonyhill8818in the beginning of Part 1 when Marty comes home to see the car totaled. Biff borrowed George’s car when he got into an accident, he says that George had to pay for the accident since it was his car, and that he owed Biff money for his dry cleaning since he spilt beer on his jacket.
Wow, i never thought about that, amazing XD
I just love the sound when Doc rams his scope to fully extended and cycles the lever on his rifle
The scariest part about this scene is that michal was actually getting hanged during the set
*actually*
And yes
Luckily he didn't die!
He did die but they had to resuscitate him
I also think this might be the reason why he has Parkinson
He had it already before but the hanging scene sped up his ilness very quickly in the next years

1:35 most badass pose Doc ever made
Emmett Brown, only in town for eight months, just proved you don't mess with the blacksmith or his friends!
I love that in the few months Doc has been there hes made a refrigerator, a sniper rifle, and who knows what else 🤣
The Gun that Doc used to cut the Rope was a Custom Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" with Steampunk like Scope and Front Sights with a large loop lever.
I love this trilogy
It happen because Marty bought the sports almanac book.

1:33 Doc’s Eastwood Moment
Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen: You owe me money, blacksmith.
Doc: How do ya figure?
Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen: My horse threw a shoe. And seein' as you was the one that done the shoein', I say that makes you responsible.
Doc: Well, since you never paid me for the job, I say that makes us even!
Doc is in the right on this one. Since Tannen didn't pay for the job, Doc isn't liable.
Like every other Tannin, they don’t listen and just blame others for their own mistakes.
@@micahelstalans1278 I'm still torn on the whole nature vs nurture thing but I suspect that the Tannon family has some sort of mental illness that causes narcissism.
Did lawyers exist back then? I guess if there were sheriffs, but it was pretty much kill or be killed back then.
1:25 in that first time moment: HOORAY, IT'S DOC!
The chemistry between these two were so damn real. They truly feel like best friends willing to do anything for each other. While I hope the series never gets remade, if there's ever a continuation, it would be cool to see, even just a photo of Marty and Doc still being friends well into the future.
Christopher Lloyd always surprises me, in the role of the blacksmith too
@pietroparritorrini1024 That's correct since he probably was unable to do any Science work in the 1800s being a Scientist, he must have decided to get a new job as a blacksmith.

Marty risks everything going back to save doc.
And doc just wants to marty go back to the future.
What a friendship
His pose a 1:35 is total badass.
"We got ourselves a new courthouse. Time we had a hanging" Hasnt been finished yet and already they want an execution.
@virus-2075 Maybe Buford was more interested in watching a hanging than doing a shooting even if the courthouse wasn't finished yet. Another reason why Buford wanting the execution was because, right before Doc shot and got Marty down, Buford said "haven't had a hanging for a long time."
Texans.
"you did"
just...
lol
The fact they shown a hanging in a mainstream Hollywood PG rated movie...priceless. Especially since the star actor almost died.
Bufford "Mad Dog" Tannen was the most believeble Cowboy in a movie that i ever see. I mean i got most of the old western movies with John Wayne and Spaghetti Western with Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone, original Django was also a masterpiece but the actor here make a good job.
Every scene in back to the future was a well thought out master piece.
This is the first time we see Doc being confrontational. Yes he had been brave in previous situations like with the lightening but he wasn't a fighter. “ It’ll shoot the fleas of a dog’s back at 500 yards Tannen, and it’s pointed straight at your head!”
I find this scene more hilarious when I imagine Buford and his goons as centaurs 😅😅😅
Lmao

Doc has a lot of those, one of the most iconic ones is "roads? Where we're going we don't need roads 😎". Part of the top 3 with the 1,21 Gigawatts maybe XD
If it can shoot the fleas of a dogs back at 500 yards a rope 30 feet away seems overkill
Your average Mauser 98 can do that with iron sights and a lot of practice. A Sharps rifle could do that easily with the right sight, ammo and shooter.
Doc adapted well to his environment, picking up a new skill in the process!
Honestly, I’m surprised they didn’t just kill MadDog and prevent Biff from ever existing in the first place.
The amount of paradoxes that would cause would destroy the universe

It seems like those people standing behind Buford and his henchmen at 1:04 are just watching what's happening instead of trying to help Marty but, it's still fortunate that Doc came and saved Marty.
@1:02 Michael J. Fox literally dying!
1:15 nice shooting 👌 👍
I seem to remember an extra minute or two where, after doc says "it'll shoot the fleas off a dog from 500 yards" buford says "Blacksmith!" And then doc says "that's right tannen" . Then the whole argument about the horse.
It's funny to me that Tannen looks and acts the way he does (and I get the hint he smells bad too) but he is actually closer to what someone in the Old West actually looked like. Dirty, scruffy, hygiene not nearly as ideal, ect
$80 is 1885 is ~2400$ in 2022 dollars.
So does that mean that a horse is now worth $2,250 and a bottle of Kentucky Redeye whiskey is $150?

@@intosilence1773 With mass production being a thing now, whisky would not cost the $150. If it was some "special" brand that made it like they did in 1885 I can see a bottle reaching that high depending on how people would pay. Horses can easily got for over 2k.

I always wondered, couldn't Doc pay off Buford? I remember Doc carried a whole briefcase of money from various years? He could humor him and pay him 80 dollars and not have to worry about him every again. xD
Buford didn't care about the money after Doc told him off. He wanted to make an example of people who don't bend to his demands.

0:04 Marty could have looked for a horse to hop on but I guess they were all taken
Should've pointed the rifle at him again and said, "Are you threatening my life, Tannen? Because I'll end yours right now if you are!"
@CeaserMadrazo If Doc did that, one of Buford's henchmen would have shot Doc since he's one person and Buford has three henchmen with guns. Or one of them would have said "drop the rifle."
The crazy part is that Mad Dog has a valid legal argument. Even though he has not settled the bill for the horseshoe, if Doc installed it improperly and it caused damage, Doc would be liable.

2:03 😖 That's the $80!
Ok here's what I don't get: Doc scolds Martty for coming back for him "Marty I gave you explicit instructions not to come back here", but why? Doc should have known that Marty was coming, and why he was coming. since Doc's younger self(from 1955) was the one who sent Marty back to 1885 in the first place!
Or even without the reason to go.back for him, Doc knows Marty well enough that he'd probably come back for him regardless and he'd do the same thing if the situation was reversed
I've always wondered how long it takes until 1955 Doc's memories will ripple into 1985 Doc's mind.
