£900!!! My Yorkshire tea went everywhere wasn’t expecting it to be that much! Great review
I just bought a Helm Compact and footprint using your 20% discount code. Thank you Haze, I saved myself about £60 !!!
Every time I see a gate latch it's like an ear worm thanks mate your in my nog for ever until the end l hope your pleased with your self
Nice one. I've been using my Southern Cross 1 for over a year now, wild camping in Exmoor, Dartmoor, Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. It's come with me in snow, sun and torrential rain, and is my number one tent these days. The added ventilation on these latest tents looks good, though I've been really happy with mine when it comes to condensation! James.
Get some small elastic bands, wrap them around those toggle loops. You can roll the band down the loop to cinch it down. Literally adds no weight to the tent aswell.
Their new Northern Lite 2 or the more budget friendly Panacea 2 are serious contenders, nice viddy 👍
Especially when you can pickup the new one for £460 at outdoor gear essentials 👍
@@silverbackcyclist yes indeed 😉
If you find some of the ties for the door a bit fiddly get a hair band and loop it on with a larks foot and hey presto, much much easier to deal with.
Would really love to see you go on a trip with Simon, a bloke in the woods. He needs someone rough and ready for a long haul way hike.
900 spuds! dayummmm
2 man tent in winter is a must having the room to sort yourself out is worth it when the wether is shite outside 😂
Had mine over a year. Used it for my JOGLE in August. 21 days on the road. Bombproof.
Used it Coniston to Keswick, Winter, snow 4 day exped.
No inner, just footprint.
Spacious,easy set up....bombproof.
Only use inners in Summer.
If it gets wet , the inner gets piss wet.
I ditched the inner 3 days into my JOGLE.
Lightweight tarp type option.
Love mine. I've tried loads of tents, this is the lad. Quick set up when it's hoying it down
5 star
JOGLEcopter! Great review Nick. Why not just a tarp and some trekking poles if no need for the inner though?
JOGLE in 21 days?
@@killersniper4 John o' Groats to Lands End JOGLE
@@nickhindle7289 Sorry i mean how you managed to complete it in 21 days, i had walking on my mind. Guess you cycled it XD
@@killersniper4 self supported cycling. 1250 miles. Cycle networks, slightly longer but more scenic and safer
I wish I could afford half of one of them. Looks nice mate. I just hope the wildcamping outdoors insta cool kids will get bored and prices might go down.
Respect as always. Vestibules,vestibules 1 2.
Can't fault terra nova products, I have the helm 1 which is a great alrounder. Highly recommend for a first tent.
Helm 2 is the best value similar tent . Just 3 seasons but I love mine
Looks like this could be a decent one for ventilation. I’m trying to find that sweet spot for changeable weather in Scottish hills. Don’t want to be swimming in condensation when weather is fair but I want to feel ok about moderate Lily bad weather. A lot of good features here
I’ve got the sc 1 which is very stable in the wind and easy to pitch. Sc2 looks great. Quality materials.
I can't believe you've got flowers, no fair!!! We've still got snow, total sad face. Tent looks good, hopefully it holds up. Take care, be well
I still love my Helm 2 Compact! I’d love to know a comparison between this and that! I wonder if it’s 3x as good!
I would have picked up the Helm 2 already, were it not for the color. It's a bit too bright for wild/stealth camping imo. Overall it looks like an attractive tent.
Nice one mate ive actually been looking for a new tent and this one looks right up my street, good review mate keep up the good work. Atb Wullie
I do love your tent reviews, they make me want to get out there and just sit in my tent 😊

That's actually a decent discount nice one
Got a quasar I love it cost 500 this would been handy lol
Loving the vids
£900 sobs I’ll pass mate .
Was going to use your code to purchase a Northern lite 2 but found it for £460 at outdoor gear essentials 🙂
Will have to use it when I get a footprint for it 👍
£900 they are having a laff🤪🤪🤪
First...well nearly!!! There's nothing like that new tent smell.
Love the videos. Keep up the GREAT work. I have the southern cross 1, fantastic tents ⛺️ 👍
Nice, have had a few Terra Nova tents over the years, and I always go back to them.
Looking forward to seeing this bad boy out in the wilds 🤘
As always, your reviews are meaningful. For me, the issue is always the length of the tent. I just don’t fit. Im 6’6” and literally always touch one end or the other on anything that is light enough to carry.
I have yet to find anything to match my Crux.
What Crux tent do you use and how do you find it? I’ve been eyeing up the Crux X1 Assault tent
@@alexarna thank you for the response. I have Crux X1 Assault (2kg) as well as a Shadow (3kg) and am looking at adding a third Crux to my collection. The X1 is a great tent for me and my hiking companion - a rescue Doberman. I’ve upgraded the pegs and also added two extra guy lines. I’ve experienced 80+mph wind once in the mountains and several times 50+mph. Not many tents can do that. When it’s below freezing it especially does suffer from condensation but a sponge cloth takes care of that. It feels really solid in adverse conditions. Its main failings are lack of bug mesh on one vent, it could do with a further ventilation flap at the rear and the lack of a lantern hook.
The Shadow is brilliant for two humans and can still fit my Dobie as well. I’ve fitted two extra tie out points on this as well.
Both these tents have been used in some awful conditions and stood up to everything so far. When it’s below freezing they don’t ‘breath’ as the material freezes but that happens to double skin tents as well. I sold both my Hillebergs to swop over in order to save weight and to reduce noise when it’s really howling. For me, it was a good decision (Hillebergs are still very good) and I don’t regret my decision. Let me know if you’re interested in my X1 as I might be looking at replacing it with yet another Crux.
Nice review. I bought a Southern Cross 1 and kind of wish I had bought the 2 instead, just for that little extra space
I still have an old laser photon 1 and a laser photon 2 (which is really a 1.5) they’re not 4 season but I have had them out in late winter before and dodgy summer weather and they were fine. They don’t make either anymore. I’ve had helms too and I’ve always had good experiences in all their gear so I don’t doubt this southern cross 2 is very decent but of kit. We all love a new tent don’t we! A joyous occasion it is!!🤠😎
Looking good mate, I find the toggles a bit like you say not "squared away". Shame but always room for improvement in all things wounderful!
I do have one request / question, I would like to see a video of you camping in the rain, and showing us the destructing your tent and how you store it when on a multi-day trip. As I guess that can get nasty espically if its bouncing it down. Thanks
Your garden reviews are up there Paul, being arsed to get the drone out for that aerial view is appreciated along with the tape measure. Cheers bud, you're just the real deal.🎉
Be good to see you do a comparative video of the SC 2 against the Kuiu storm star Dave?
@@williammay6879 definitely and the allak 2. But how to get hold of them!
@@Fellmandave1 I’ve got a kuiu like yourself so I’m no use. 🙄
I do like these they store up easy Mine did and had windows Easy to install zipperd opens windows with pegs o
Always like your honest opinions in your reviews.
Curious as to why you got shut of the hilleberg 👍
I am also curious about that. Doesn't seem like a deal going from the allak to this terra nova.
It was bought for me by my ex and I didn’t want it anymore.
Would love to see a blackout inner
Its worth more than me car this tent haha.. luv how he’s like a kid on xmas morning tho.
Must be a very cool tent. They have a reputation for being sturdy as a rock castle. For one person only though. The second tenant must feel more like a #2 in there. Rather a Southern cross 2 formerly known as 1. But I share your excitement for new tents and I want you to be happy. Congrats, good choice
Brilliant review!! Wish I had the cash to buy one!! Queue the music 😂🤙🏼
Love these videos mate as you always give great opinions on the gear you’ve used or about to try 👍👍👍
Cheers Pete
Very nice tent mate, looking forward to seeing you make new videos with this tent.
Brilliant first look mate. Cheers. Very tempting for those winter camps
Wow, that tent was the dogs bollocks mate. Really good review cheers
Been looking at the panacea.
Fjrallraven Hazy lad...you can't go wrong 👌
Thanks for uploading this mate, i was waiting for this tent to be back in stock for months and it finally arrived last week. The weather has been shite so haven’t had chance to pitch it up in the garden yet 😂 looks class.
Hi Paul, perhaps "top @ tails" for sleeping pads to fit all in? Love the channel BTW!
I've got 2x lanshan 2 Pros & a Nature hike cloud peak 2. We've used the lanshans for the Rob Roy Way & Cumbria Way but that was summer. Why do you choose the lanshan over your cloud peak 2 in the winter months? X
Great tent. Thanks for the review. I'd rather have my Scarp1.
Nice tent, I hope it works out in the wild.
It could be from gods and built by goddesses I'm never paying 900 quid on a f'ing tent. More brass than brains. It's a tent!
I also give some cheaper options in the video, don’t have a gripper 😂
John snow drop 🤣
Wow costie for a tent crazy money but looks cool I'll stick to vango tho
Great stuff Hazey, these are great vids these. It's good to get your insight on new kit. I watched this even though I am exclusively a Hammock camper.
Great review, you think of everything Hazy like the zip working well one handed, one of mine is a bummer however I set it up.
Thoughts compared to the Allak 2?
Good stuff brother Haze 👊🏼 looking forward to seeing it in the fells fella ⛺️⛰️🥾
Nice looking tent Hazeo.
Hazey you could put 4 washing line pegs on that indoor flap peace and love from 1 leg UK England
If they are hating you via a keyboard they have overlooking one thing - they help you in the statistics as yet all good and bad new it’s all good 😊
Like the features but twice the price of a Pioneer 2? Think I’d go with new Northern Lite 2 or Voyager, though not sure if you can pitch outer first with Voyager.
£900 for a tent is con. I'd happily receive this as a gift but I would never buy it. Even if money wasn't a consideration. I appreciate there are cheap tents, so you need to spend over £150 lets say, but what are you getting for £400-£500 more from this tent that you're not getting with an MSR that costs £400-£500 for example?
Totally agree mate I wouldn't pay it if I could afford it. I'd go for an msr too
Me neither chaps but i do own an elexer 1 which i got at a good price after some wheeling & dealing, I do like the pioneer 2 which i think is at a good price at minute, & over half the price of this tent .
Nah, Scarp1 all day long.
Can't see the MSRs at £500 competing with where this tent can go. You pay for their ultralight weight and for summer and shoulder season.
We are looking at hilliberg . Why did you get rid of yours ? We are looking at setting up for wild camping first timers. We walk a lot and watch you lots on you tube so any advice would be amazing. Looking to spend what we need to be comfortable
I like it a lot.
Anything can be the best in your garden but it's a different story on the hills in very bad weather .
Prices gone way up on Terra Nova , Wild Country Helm was €240 when I bought it b4 Xmas . The Southern X 2 was £600 b4 Xmas 🤦♂️
Great timing. Before Christmas they would've been selling off the rest of the SC2 2022 version. As in January they introduced the new version with a few modifications.
It's a top to tail design maybe.
£900 😳 touch steep for my blood! nice though, atb
Could this be the One ! Nice first intro, but Let’s see how she fairs in the Wild.
I'd be interested to see how it copes with high winds. The end pieces where 3 poles meet, looks a very weak point. I can't see it doing well in bad weather
The Terra Nova Voyager is only £359 over at fishing republic right now Mr .
As always a very good review. Cheers Haze
I had the one was great in high wind I only sold it because the inner allways sagged down near my head
I could buy 25 of my 35 pound tent from decathlon, which I use about 10 times then buy a new one
Great video mate
Definitely skipping this tent with those specs at that price point. Thanks for the great video as always
Hero
You used to have the Helm 2
How was that in tough conditions
I use the Helm 1, and it holds very well in storm situations
Im 63 and in the Czech Republic. I want a lightweight two person tent for hiking - three season... I'm confused by the array of tents and dunno what to look for. What is wrong with some of the Decathlon tents for example? Any advice? Love the vids...
They're not exactly generous inners on these Terra Novas. I have the Pioneer 2 and my 30 year old Hilleberg Nallo 2 dwarfs both it and this Southern Cross. So really these are nice size one man tents. As a four season two man you'd soon be hating your decision to share. I spent nearly a month crossing the Swiss Alps in a Keb 2, designed by Bo Hilleberg, in the early 1980s. My buddy and I had plenty of space and a huge vestubule each. A great tent, heavy by today's standards but then so was everything else.
I also have a Sierra Designs Meteor 3000, the footprint is about the same, with large vestibules, but in the inner wow its ample!
Inside on the SC2, there's ample space, just not quite in the inner. They taper it inside and the inner hooks along the centre point at the top. I do wish they have done the inner a touch bigger. I imagine they figure during waking hours in the tent each of the 'two' people will be at either end or facing their own vestibules. And I suppose, a smaller inner will be easier to warm up than a larger space.
You can buy the pioneer for £400 so how on earth can terra nova justify a £900 price tag on this just for the additional porch? Massively over priced imo!
The materials used and the weight by all accounts
Naive post. 😢
How do the vestibules compare to the Helm 2? I had latter, and they were just too small, almost pointless for me. I've gravitated towards a tunnel shaped tent because you get a much bigger porch area
nice tent, replace those toggle n loops with elasticated string, cause lifes too short. wish somebody would make a vid upgrading the taiji 2 for a scottish summer, i have ideas but, would love somebody else to do it. its a mganificent tent but the poles are like they are made of rubber
Great video! How did you get on with the Copper Spur? Do you still use it? Would you recommend?
Yer playgrounds open mate.. 😮
Its a big bugger. x
£900 isn't cheap (even with your discount Hazey) from a UK company which, it should be added, outsource most of their manufacturing abroad.
I still have my venerable Terra Nova Voyager, great tent, and still going strong at 15 years old. I feel the TN tents have lost their way a bit over recent years, but when I saw the Southern Cross at its launch I was impressed (with the 2, not so much the 1). It's only the weight which puts me off, although that's entirely reasonable for a tent made at its level of materials, design and performance. Hence the Tarptent Scarp (at 1kg less) for my 4-season shelter.
Regarding your inner doors, I have the same arrangement on my Voyager's inner door - it's a true 4-season door, meaning you get the option of using it as solid, mesh, part solid/mesh, or completely open. It may seem a bit untidy but you get used to it! Think of it as a fully solid door (to be used as such most of the time) with a few options to increase airflow and cooling.
Just received mine recently, and I'm not sure I can live with the inner tent sagging so much. I've never seen any tent sag so much, and I've been camping for many, many years. I f I do keep it then those pathetic grain of rice sized toggles will have to go. This will be my 5th so called premium priced tent, and yet again it does not match the quality of my Vango, OEX, or Coleman.. They are made of lower priced materials but all out perform the higher priced tents.
Its an ok tent but I am quite disappointed by quite high 2.4 kg weight to £900 cost ratio, its pretty bad. Space is good for 1 person but defo not for 2, unless you have small regular pads.
I owned Helm 2 and sold it as it was nearly 3kg with footprint. For long treks its a no-no.
There are much better tents for the cost £900 on the market. Just my opinion that no one cares about anyway lol :p
Like the tent. Except, not sold in the states.
The way I see it, a two person tent is a one person tent. A four person tent is a one person tent. A 8-12 person tent is a one person tent.
Got one of these as a gift but have two other tents. Will be selling it for probably around $300 if anyone is interested.
They seem a decent tent definitely only a 2p if you use regular size mats and only 1 of you get dressed at a time.the vestibules are great.but there's no getting away it's very close to hilleberg money so it won't be for everyone.
Where’s Joey D have you hidden him ( Joey D - Legend )
He’s coming out very soon mate
What is the best half person 5 season tent?
I've just bought that tent with your discount code, so hopefully there's some money coming your way. Keep up the great work! J
You could just bring some safety pins for the inner vent flaps...
Good shout
@@HazeOutdoors I'm swapping mine's black toggle for a same size spring toggle. That'll solve it and the little darling will look like it belongs.
I was excited until you mentioned the price! 😢
Nice review but can you give us the measurements in inches as well please?
Did he ever use the Pioneer? I can remember his review. But never him wild camping in it.
There are a few videos of me using on the channel. I’ve also used it without making videos
Swear by Terra Nova. I've just replaced my 28 year old Terra Nova Voyager. Its been all over the world.
Alreet chief. Feeling #blessed and #honoured to witness the new chosen tent's maiden appearance. Gan steady
Is it not large to carry ?
