There were two boxed sets before that covered A0-12 and another that covered the first few levels of Aufstrag. Supposedly Steve is finally going to finish the Dungeons of Aufstrag and put out another thick book like this.
Great review! So glad to see this. My introduction to Troll Lord Games was with a 5E box set containing these first 5 individual modules. The modules really intrigued me, being that they are short with drop in value that really hits home for the style of campaign I love to run. I've been wanting to explore C&C, & this book is an excellent collection of Troll Lord adventures. I'd love to pick up this hardcover! Thanks Jeff!
Been reading the PWYW copy of the C&C PHB from DTRPG and it's such a great distillation of D&D. I love the 'rules are your servant, not your master' advice and the modularity. And I've finally found out where to reliably get hold of the hardcovers in the UK, so I'm getting closer to jumping in onboard with C&C. Loved your pagethru of Undying War. It's definitely flippin' big, especially when it's just the first book of a journey into Hell. I had no idea until now. Looks like a great campaign in the old Gygax era style, so perfect for the roots of C&C.
I love what Troll Lord is doing with Castles & Crusades. I've been trying to get some of those A0-A12 adventures for quite some time now. This collection is great news. very excited to see how they connect with the Auftrag story! Thanks for the first look Jeff!
I'm looking for alternatives to D&D 5e, and Castles & Crusades is at the top of my list. I have the C&C rule books, but I wasn't exactly sure where to start regarding an adventure to play. It looks like this Undying War book is exactly what I'm looking for, with tons of content for my players to dive into. Thanks for this preview, and I'm looking forward to your review.
I received some pdfs of the lower level adventures in a Humble Bundle last year and thought it’d be nice to use the first adventure as an introduction to the game for players. I’m pretty excited to see that the modules can be melded together for a kind of “Adventure Path”. This may be worth picking up just to have a physical copy of everything altogether.
I've been looking through C&C since last year, and hope that I can start running a campaign with it later this year. Seems like a great change of pace from what we had been playing for most of the last few years (5e and PF2e); started in 2e, spent a lot of time in 3e when it launched, so it'd be like a return to the good ol' days.
I recently bought the starter kit for C&C. I want to run this campaign for my players. I like that it goes to a higher level. I’m interested in how it plays at double digit levels to see if this is a system I want to use long term.
I remember reading the 5e conversion of A0 a few years back. It's fantastic to see all these adventures brought together in one book. I will be very interested to see how they all link together to make one grand campaign.
Yeah, kind of disappointing to realize the campaign isn't actually concluded in this book. They really obscure that fact until you reach the last page. There is an optional "ending" but it's really underwhelming.

Always intrigued by C&C but I’m suffused with OSR content, so I’m glad to get this first look

Got the core 3 books now I just have to find people around my area to play.
A lot of npc monster appendices are missing for example none of the demons in A7 have any stats
Newbie Questions: Does it include monster stats? Or what books does it require besides the player's manual and monster manual?
You just need the two core books as far as I could tell; anything not in the Monsters & Treasure book has stats in this volume.
