Passed my Civil FE in June, couldn't resist starting to prep for the PE even though I need to find a job and gain experience first. The Steel Manual was my favorite source of information back in school, I still get giddy thinking about it. I haven't touched mine in 5 years but the smell of the new pages every time I opened it up for steel design just hit different, y'know? Loved that thing. Mine is the 14th ed but I cant wait for the 16th ed to come out and I'm gonna go ahead and buy that.
Hey man i love your every content. Can you share a pdf of all tabs you did for structural depth for all codes in one pdf. It could be very helpful to know what you have tabbed. Videos are kinda not clear.
I am about halfway through this video. It takes so long because I have to wait until the ink dries on the tabs before I can apply them to the book, and I have to look around in the book for the sections you tabbed because I have the 15th addition. Definitely, thanks for the help with the tabs because it was hit and miss trying to glimpse the tabs in your other videos.
John Thank you so much for the kind words! I didn't realize everyone was looking at my tabs lol. And i hear you about the ink drying, I had the same problem everytime I tab!
Hi can you go over how to find the deflection equation for simple beam with two equal loads unsymmetrically place and two unequal load one below in Table 3-23. They didn't give the equation for that why. Thank you for the videos. These are great!!
BF is the factor used to calculate the flexural strength for unbraced length Lb between Lp and Lr, but I cant recall if they actually give it a name! I'll have to double check
Hey there!.... Welds & Dmin - table 8.4 - when I solve for Dmin, we get kip/in? Could you explain the 1/16th of an inch for Dmin? I just get stuck once I solve.
D is just always represented as 1/16th of an inch. and "D" in the equation represents the numerator while 16 is the denominator. i hope this helps Tamarah!
If I am taking the SE exam in October 2021 would it matter if I use the 14 th edition instead of the 15 the edition. Do things and equations numbers change ?

Its my GO-TO design material. I'm always finding something new in it to help me out. 💪 congrats on passing the FE!
23 minutes of tabbing will pay dividends in the future. Very helpful and complete video for anyone that designs steel. Keep it up!
rockin that black edition, got it used with tabs included...
Thanks, good to step in by using this intro
Just back into iron work after working in production welding stainless. Trying to Reducate myself this helps.

Thank you for your video, very useful, I live in El Salvador, and I found your videos very useful, thanks again for your time :)
Glad you like them! thanks for checking in from El Salvador!

If you’re using the Post-it “plastic like” tabs, I’m writing with pencil on those, it doesn’t get erased very easily.
@@Kestava_Engineering I used some white plasticy tabs and a fine point Sharpie for mine. They are very legible and don't smudge.
Taking the PE Thursday! I searched your page for CERM tabs, might be time for you to do a video... Thanks for all your content!
@Lordeverfall100 taking it in Vermont, good luck!
What PM did you take? I took transpo, went okay/good
Great suggestion Matt! - hope the exams when well!
Hope everything turned out OK Lordeverfall100! Let me know!
One section I have tabbed is way in the back in the RCSC table 8.2 for Nut Rotation. I've seen that one come up in the PE
Matt you continue to provide fantastic information to this team. Atta boy!!! Ill have to take a look at that section tomorrow!
Just got my book, this was super helpful thank you!
your comment makes my day my man
taking my S1 test today and my book is alot more tabbed up
you are an abosulte legend my friend

I don't think Table 3-23 covers those cases. Superposition can be the solution.
Matthew Ma knows whats up! great answer Matthew
@@Kestava_Engineering can you please go over superposition thanks.
What does BF stand for in the Zx table?

Nice thanks :)

Hey Neil - some things have definately changed from the 14th to 15h edition. So I would make absolutely sure which code the exam will be referencing.
You should be a hand model
the Team is really loving my grubby hands lately... is Jose behind this??
how to download steel construction manual 14th edition please any one
Check out the AISC website! thanks for checking in!
