Half-Life: Opposing Force - What happens if Shephard kills Gordon Freeman
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 сен 2024
- This shows what happens if you follow Gordon Freeman to Xen. In some cases, you can kill him, but of course you can't get away with it without causing a temporal paradox.
You can only kill him by using a grenade because no-clipping and killing him causes him just to stand there because he does not have a corpse model like other models in the game, but he is really dead. But to actually see the effects of his "death", you need to throw a grenade to gib him, or use a knife to cut his legs which also gives you the same effect of...gibbing.
After watching this, my copy of HL2 vanished from my steam library.
this is why we don't have hl3
What? They never have done a Second game. What are you talking about?
@@Leonightfire surely you didnt got the joke
@@MrAdam496 Yeah That Guy Ruined The Joke
@@MrAdam496 They actually made a second game, released in 2004, titled Half Life: Alyx, since the original protagonist already died.
Also they just released a new VR game this year called Half Life: Barney.
Adrian = Valve
Gordon = Half Life 3
Half Life 3 (Gordon,Alyx and Adrian) confirmed!. BOREALİS!
WHAT. You predicted HL:ALyx.
@@greenhatzelda8273 lol
Dont play with that 😭
HL3 Confirmed!!!!
He tried to create a temporal paradox because if shepard teleports using the same portal as gordon he will fall to his death, with shephard dead, no one will kill the gene worm, resulting in the destruction of all earth's lifeforms, with the earth destroyed, the HL2 events cannot happen
ITS THE GMANS WOOORK!!! (0
***** agree. the worms deads with the blast
I am not very sure about this. The Gene worm would likely resist the nuclear explosion since it needs to have its weak point exposed to receive damage. Also the nuclear blast only occurs some considerable time after the Gene Worm's tries to enter on Black Mesa, whitout shephard, the Gene Worm would be able to finish its teleportation process and be able to absorbe the Earth's Resources becoming even more stronger and raising its chances to survive the nuclear blast and causing the Paradox.
Matheus Henrique lol now I want to play hl opposing force :P
Matheus Henrique yes, this wasn't like Half-Life 2 mods where you only need Source SDK. for Half-Life 1 expansion packs and mods, HL1 required, since there is no GoldSource SDK Base.
Just to clear things up:
A "Temporal Paradox" happens when things that weren't supposed to meet each other cross paths. Gordon and Adrian weren't supposed to be in Xen at the same area, either Gordon or Adrian would be killed by one of them. G-Man needs Gordon Freeman and Adrian Shephard alive for his Employers.
Rampant Mouse It's not that, it's because if Shephard went to Xen, he wouldn't be able to destroy Gene Worm, thus enabled the Gene Worm to destroy Earth and all the things on it.
CamperN00b47 Good point.
+Rampant Mouse I think you could be right. But the thing that makes me doubt it in some case is that the text says "attemted to create" instead of just "created" and in order to this Shephard dies so in fact it wasnt about the Gene Worm because then it would already have been an "created temporal paradox" not an "attemted" since Shephard Dead = Gene Worm Not defeated. It seems that the gameplot logic assumed as conclusion here is that Shephard definitly would kill Gordon if he jumpes after him into the portal and so the whole Half Life Story wouldnt have happened at all since Gordon is the G-Man. No Gordon = No G-Man = No Resonance Cascade = No Unforseen Consequences = No Half Life At All. However I more hope you are right since I really dont like the theory that the G-MAN is Gordon from the future.
+WarLeaks
gordon is not g-man .-.
Who knows... G-Man Gordon FreeMAN
Hmmm... let's just wait 20 years more until Half Life 3 is released
That's not what happens if you kill Gordon, that's what happens if you follow him into the portal.
NoriMori hmmm, see those flying gibs around Xen's skies? yup, Gordon's gibs. flying.
GunnerNii_™ you dont get it do you?! You DON'T HAVE to kill Gordon, to end with this message at the end at all. I didn't even noticed Gordon on that rock, when i jumped in the portal yesterday and got same message.
So to kill me (or Gordon ). Type sv_cheats 1 then noclip then boom shoot me or Waco me
It will happen if you manage to kill Gordon before he reaches the portal. (I think)
Well, yes, but it also happens if you kill Gordon before he gets into portal.
Adrian, what have you done?! You've changed the future! You've created a time paradox!
So, if one or both of them die, then the Half Life timeline is much more different than what we see.
If Gordon dies, nobody would be able to kill Nihilanth and stop the invasion. Thus the Aliens win.
If Adrian dies, nobody would be able to kill The Gene worm and stop the invasion. Thus the Aliens win.
If they both die, well, you get it.
@@franziv4593 the nuke will just make it stronger play the game to understand it.
Yeah but still even if aliens win all the action and blood baths going on earth just because aliens won will still result in combine getting alerted of earth and they will come down to take over earth and since there is no shepard or freeman no one will be ever be able to stop combine forever and then they'll drain all of the earth for their selfish needs and leave the planet to die while they're taking all it's resources
But it doesn't matter because both the forces of xen and race x would be enslaved by the combine
And even then, the aliens still won
The alien races would face each other, leading to complete chaos

HE HUNTED DOWN THE FREEMAN.
*HE* FUCKED UP HIS FACE.
With this character's death the thread of prophecy is severed. Restored a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.
It isn´t that hard to understand,
------------------------------------------------------ this is the original hl1/opposite force timeline right? where Freeman doesn´t "die"
--------------
---------------------------------------- this is the broken timeline witch Sheppard kills Freeman,
Here´s the real deal tho:
Killing Freeman and/or Sheppard would create a timeline witch earth´s life would be dead, and that Nihilanth would still be alive.
So if that happened then the events of Half Life 2 wouldn´t be possible, since G-Man is the one pulling the strings and he wants things his way he will NOT tolerate anything that shouldn´t have happened.
Now you´re thinking "time" paradox? well there are some creatures in this universe that are alive in all times, as in past, present and future (if they don´t die ofc). These creatures are known as the "Vortigaunt", as well shown in Hl2 in a secret cave in the Water Hazard chapter [d1_canals_13] there is a special Vortigaunt know as "All-Knowing Vortigaunt", he states:
"We remember the Freeman. We are coterminous."
"We see you still in Black Mesa. Clearly we see you in the Nihilanth's chamber."
But, that doesn´t mean they can time travel, right? You are right BUT, since they are alive at all times, they know future events, G-Man knows aswell so, therefore Shepperd killing or in any way interacting with Freeman would eventually create a paradox that would corrupt the Half Life Timeline.
Thanks for your time G-Entleman. Hope you enjoyed this one.
(All fact´s in this statment are true and can be either found in game or in any wikia´s related to the game that contains the information about the game itself)
And the Gene Worm will be still alive too.
It would be interesting how the fight will be in the 7 hour War in the Alternate Timeline with Combine forces VS US Military VS Xen Soldiers with the Nihilanth is still alive and the Race X soldiers with Gene Worm on Earth.
tl dr
You Hunted Down The Freeman!
That's simply what happens if you jump into the same portal as Freeman, regardless of whether you shoot at him.
So the implication here is that Gman has all the events carefully planned out? As in the future is already predetermined by him thus killing Gordon creates a paradox huh
"uhh allright, we got him"
And then the scientist yelled "Shepherd, you fool!"
They broke the fourth wall on that one.
**middle fingers as he falls into the void**
how is it a paradox if neither of them are time travelers, unless one of them are... Dun dun dun
Do you even know what word paradox means? It's not exclusive for time travel lol.
it's because shepard can't enter in the portal because shepard its not hable to enter the portal but if you enter its a temporal paradox because shepard its not supposed to enter the portal and that brokes the timeline from the game and freeman can't die that will broke the timeline story of the game.Just think shepard can't kill freeman or freeman can't kill shepard if you play black mesa
and you don't enter the portla where freeman is supposed to enter and yo look at your back you will see shepard and if you kill him you will make a paradox because shepard it's not supposed to die and freeman too
"temporal parodox" which means two things can't meet eachother cross paths.
temporal means relating to time so a temporal paradox IS exclusive to time travel.
The paradox is that, as you can see, Shepard falls to his death when entering Xen. Because this happens, he can not kill the gene worm ultimately resulting in the destruction of Earth and humanity. If said event were to happen, the events of HL2 or the two episodes would never happen. This is why it's a paradox: because Adrian is messing with time when he should not be doing so.
Player in Gordon: Wtf?
I don't think he "attempted"
I think he "succeeded"
adrian shephard: worth
So half life 2 really is a simulation and gman recruits you into exploring an alternate timeline
Yeah!
With the ending of HL:Alyx, now this is somewhat true
That's a good soldier, he die and create a time paradox... but hunt Freeman and complete his mission! :D
First time playing it was natural to follow the same Portal.
Thank you Valve
after 10 years this pops up on my recommended.
Impossible. The shots go right through him, even the grenades. In Xen the bullets just go right through him, too, but the grenades don't and they'll blow him up. That's the only way to "kill" him.
Bro was dedicated
time paradox
Hell yeah C4A1TITLE my favorite op4 chapter
It's not a real temporal paradox, it's a joke. Opposing Force is a side-story set during the events as Half-Life, and you are supposed to play it after having finishing normal Half-Life. Gordon Freeman is supposed to go to Xen, defeat the Nihilanth and be recruited by G-Man, but if you kill Gordon then you prevent that from happening. Of course it is only you - the player - that has travelled back in time, not the character (Corporal Adrian Shepard), so it's only a paradox for the player.
Great job u break up the timeline 🥳
Subject: Shephard
Status: Evaluation Terminated
Postmortem: Subject attempted to create temporal paradox.
Love how "Hunt Down the Freeman" BOTH happened and didn't happen because of this
Since you are not supposed to get to the part of Xen Gordon is, it inherits the mapcode for the original Half-Life 1 (C4a1) C4A1TITLE means "Xen" like it did in Hl1.
if you use cheats you can play xen from half life 1 when you reach there
What if he lands on one of the rocks kills freeman than takes his items and kill Ninhinanth than goes back to earth kills the gene-worm what would happen?
SuperYOLOTube More Than you Think!TM hl2 with sheperd I guess xD no but for real Idk if adrian would even get back on time to kill the gene worm since sheperd and gordon killed their respective targets at the same time.
Simple. Shephard leads the resistance and kicks the Combine's ass.
Alt Ending: Gordon meets up with Shepard and their combat skills combined wipe out xen, Nihalenth sends out a distress call before its death.
The Combine intercept this message and send a combat/expeditionary force to find out why it was sent,
Gordan and Shepard kills the combine force and eventually their leader destroying the entire Combine leaving only a few pockets of resistance left.
Gman puts Both of them in Suspended animation. However Humanity Thrives and eventually develops Interplanetary colonies.
Half life 2: non Existent- Cause: Paradox
Canonical sequel to Half Life is now Halo Ce.
I'd pay to play this.
I was playing the mod Brave Brian the other day, got to Xen where you see gman talking to Gordon and I used noclip and kinda shot Gordon... killing him.........oops
g. freeman: Damn it!
now if only major zero was here to tell you that you created a time paradox when you kill gordon.
R.I.P.
Why can you not do your goal,No wonder marines say forget about freeman

Lore of Half-Life: Opposing Force - What happens if Shephard kills Gordon Freeman momentum 100
Even if you don't kill it, it will again answer that "temporal paradox"
I call this the player paradox, since the events of Shepard killing Gordon never happened, so to cause the death or prosue Gordon, which was a event never seen in Half Life, would cause a paradox made by the player, but since that never happened, the game boots you back before the player made paradox occurred.
You get this message for following him to Xen only . It is not about killing Gordon .
Medivhmen yeah but he would have to chase Gordon into Zen to kill him, plus while you are falling you can gib Gordon with a grenade launcher.
Jomei Bernier If i remember correctly , you cant even damage Gordon .
Medivhmen nope, you can gib him with grenade launcher, or no clip and use crowbar, and gib him.
Jomei Bernier In the end it doesnt matter if you can gib him or not . You are not supposed to go Xen at all . Gordon has nothing to do with it . Shepard enters portal > Gene worm consumes the world > Events of HL2 and after never happens .
Everyone died.
*THE END*
Bro just uninstalled Half-Life 2 on everyone’s Steam li-oh wait, since when there was a Half-Life 2?
NOTE:G-Man doesn't mean [G]ordon Free[man].G-Man means [G]overment [Man] I learned it from Sven Co-op.
That isn't canon as it is not confirmed by valve. Sven Co-op isn't made by valve.
No dude,G-Man is Goverment Man.Trust me!
CrippleFaggot98 G-Man isn't the official name, it's a nick-name. His mysteriousness gave rise to the title "G-Man", which is slang for "Government Man".
No G-Man stands for Gay Man LOL.
Ayden Millers hah that was cool buddy
So this means you are trying to kill Gordon but you shouldn't kill him
Its a temporal paradox. Not a time paradox. Shepard's equipment probably distorts the xen world, the hev suit is The only safe apparel.
"temporal" and "time" is the same thing
Well Shepard can get around xen you know P.C.V :P
Ayden Millers or maybe Xen can get around Shepard if you know what i mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Medivhmen ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Ayden Millers ᕦ( ͡°╭͜ʖ╮͡° )ᕤ
the combine from half life 2 invason begin and earth will die
C4A1TITLE best map ever
No, Half-Life was made before Opposing Force. Opfor isn't really made by Valve anyway.
This is why Half Life 3 doesn't exist.
Half Life 3 (Gordon,Alyx and Adrian) confirmed!. BOREALİS!
thats a bullseye
Mission Complete !
enorme, merci :)
@Werewolf1317 Yeah those were his Orders to kill everyone including Gordon.
yes sir!
You don't need to kill Gordon. Actually, you can't kill him. You just need to enter the same portal that Gordon.
Look people, you aren't supposed to go into the portal after Freeman, so if you kill him or not, you still get the same message.
will last time i killed gordon with noclip cuz i wanna try finish his job xD

"Gunshot briiide~"
What! the Freeman is Die
techecly u did not crate a paradox because sheperd never went to the future and go back to the past to kill him even if u played hl1 it shouldent count tho
Note to self: Don't linger once you teleport into Xen.
Also, I wonder what killed Adrian first: impacting on an island or prolonged lack of water/sleep.
Lack of air maybe
you missed the first shot
End of hl1
How the hell is this supposed to be a "temporal" paradox? Shepard doesn't go back in time ._.
You did something that shouldn't supposed to happen,No one killed the gene worm because you fell at the zen world and you killed freeman who was supposed to kill the alien controller
And don't confuse it with "time" paradox,If you play COD then watch the video of COD 4 remastered easter egg where you kill makarov in the one shot one kill mission,You killed makarov which saves alot of lives
BlueShit199 Yea
If he Kills Gordon Freeman, and created a temporal paradox with it, means that he technically killed gordon in the past/Killed him too soon.
And if Gordon Dies in the past, he couldn't push the Xen Crystal in that.. Laser.. Beam... creator or whatever it is. And The Xen Crystal didn't openend the Connection to Earth and Xen and caused the Resonance cascade.
If the Resonance cascade weren't caused, then the Millitary would have never send the Marines to Black Mesa. But Adrian *is* is black mesa.even after causing the Temporal Paradox.
Also, when he's in Xen, he couldn't destroy the Gene Worm.
so thats why it is a Temporal Paradox
But if he had already pushed the crystal inside the laser beam...
It should also add 'Earth Destroyed' because Gordon Freeman didn't kill Nihilanth because Shephard killed Gordon.
PromiserOfDeath2 and the gene worm
+Kaike The Huamnhog i think its soundtrack from this big fridge in black mesa :/ i dont remember the chapter but awesome soundtrack :D
he is okay a smg grenade doesn't one hit him
Just following orders 🤣
Lucky shot.
lol XD I have done that so many times "Half Life 2 Opposing Force ! We Can Believe"
i did it, but what cost....
" A temporal paradox, time paradox, or time travel paradox is a paradox, an apparent contradiction, or logical contradiction associated with the idea of time and time travel" So how is this a temporal paradox ? because many people in this comment section dont seem to understand what a temporal paradox is..
Hlaf life 3 gets released
Another theory here. I think the "attempted" part is where you load back your game (reverse time) and give a chance to Shephard NOT TO do it again.
Or yea, employers just found another subject to deal with the gene worm problem and subject: Shephard left in the old archives with this postmortem report.
how did he create a paradox???
he just teleported a few feet too far and fell to his doom
He Also Killed Gordon
...what?...
HOW THE HELL CAN THAT CREATE A TEMPORAL PARADOX?
fun fact I did this one on accident
You can't kill freeman
True, true.
hmm... that can do ohner time line hmm.. maybe there a time line that shepard need to fix it or maybe this is one of the multiverse world?
It's a paradox if you are a gamer that played original Half-Life, and know that Gordon is "supposed" to kill the Nihilanth boss monster. Opposing Force lets you replay Half-Life's events from another perspective so it is a bit like time travel, and killing Gordon would be changing the course of history. And since you played as Gordon in Half-Life, it is a bit like killing your own past self. But it isn't REAL time travel, it isn't a proper paradox, it's only a paradox if you played half life 1.
POV: You're in 2021 and this appeared in your recommended
So does this mean opfor is canon?
