No one dunks like Dawkins. The authority, power, and strength in his dunks will NEVER be duplicated! A true GENTLEMAN of the NBA

Darryl Dawkins... 6'11'', 250+ lbs, tremendous overall athlete with long arms and built like a tank, most likely the GOAT dunking center, and he had skill too, could hit his FT's, connected on jumpers, could take it down low... And you can definitely say that it is better to just be a cool, nice person - like Darryl - than an ultra-agressive, psychotic competitor. RIP to such a charismatic, gentle individual. It was very nice to hear Bobby Jones and World B Free.

Philadelphia 76ers fan growing up in Indiana as a kid.. Darryl Dawkins was a favorite, along with Dr J, Bobby Jones and Lloyd Free. I feel the 76ers were ready to win the NBA Championship with Darryl Dawkins after several great runs in 1977, 1980, 1981 and 1982. They had the best record in the NBA I believe from 1977 - 1983. The Sixers did not need Moses Malone to win the NBA Championship in 1983. That always bothered me. I was too young to understand Philadelphia may have had bad owners. The ones that didn't believe Andrew Toney truly had foot problems. Darryl Dawkins had a great shooting touch, made his free throws, blocked shots, rebounded, was a good passer and got the crowd and team going with hard dunks. He held the ball like a grapefruit. In 1982 I believe the 76ers were the only team to have three players with 100 block shots - Darryl Dawkins, Dr J and Caldwell Jones. It is so cool to learn that Bobby Jones and Darryl Dawkins were good friends. I could imagine him and Lloyd Free being friends because they were cool on the court with their style. I could listen to Bobby Jones' stories all day. Stand Up For The Sixers

The Sixers couldn't have gotten two more different people then World (original name Lloyd) B. Free and Bobby Jones. One with flair and confidence that would certainly allow him to fit into today's game and the other the most selfless and humble player that could probably outplay 99% of the league today, but wouldn't fit in an NBA that is all about promoting self. It says a lot of DD that he was so beloved by such divergent personalities.
