I never heard of this show before, but I think after I saw that scene with Rosemary ripping the dress I should watch it now, I was in SHOCK when I saw that 😳
Ashita no Nadja is the absolute GOAT. Early 2000s igarashi is amazing between Ojamajo Doremi, Nadja, and Ouran. And the Mamoru Hosoda's episodes are literally some of the best episodes of TV anime in existence. I cried so much in the second half of the show, Nadja stole my heart with every second on screen, a perfect shoujo protagonist. Always so happy to see Ashita no Nadja getting the love it deserves. Thankfully there is a good fansub release with the Tamaya release, before it was split between 3 groups with varying quality, we are blessed to have good quality Nadja finally.
I was obsessed with Nadja as a child, the troupe adventures, the fancy dress, the drama with her mom... but I never catch on the romantic subplot lol Some memories are fussy so I really want to rewatch, it was such an entertaining and dramatic show, I was always hyped for the next episode, I hope more people get to know Nadja and enjoy her adventures My favorite dress was the ballroom gown... both of them, peak design; my life was changed the moment Rosemary ripped apart it
Same here! I liked her because I love dancing since I was 4. I even dreamt about going to Vienna one day because of Nadja! Fast forward, 24 years later… I went to Vienna and now I’m a professional dancer. Life is mind-blowing huh… Gonna watch this anime one more time.
Ahhhh what an amazing video! People really need to give this a try! Nadja is an incredible anime, I also love it! It aired here in Brazil and I watched it even before knowing about PreCure. I think it's time for a rewatch... Rosemary is indeed an amazing villain and she's stuck with me for a looooong time! I actually love her character. Carmen is another one who had an impact on me when I watched it. I love her story! 18:09 PURE SATISFACTION!!
Thank you!! ✨ So glad you love it too and very cool that you got to see it air in real time!! 🤩✨ Ooo yes Carmen ended up being a very memorable character along with Rosemary. Nadja has such great characters. 🥰
I stumbled across Ashita no Nadja sixteen or so years ago. It's such a wonderful anime! Compelling story, lovely animation and Nadja is such a sweetheart of a character. It probably resonates with me because it's a throwback to the 70s and 80s style of story-driven shojo anime I used to watch on or VHS tapes as a kid. I respect that the production team tried to do something story-driven rather than purely toy-centric. Even if it didn't pay off financially.
nadja is one of my favourite anime since I was a child! (along with sailor moon, tokyo mew mew and cardcaptor sakura), I still have the dvds released in 2006 (here in brazil) 🤍✨ edit: I would literally kill for the pink ballet dress doll!
ooh! Ashita No Nadja, one of my favorite animes next to Yes! PreCure 5, Sailor Moon, and Madoka Magica. I like the animation & it’s story of it. (btw I’m another account of OF62)
I’ve loved this anime ever since I was in highschool and I’m an adult now. Her gown was my all time favorite anime gown and I have coveted her brooch but cannot for the life of me find one. Oh god I was trying to forget about that scene with the dress. The ripping sounds gave me chills
I remember watching this a long while back. I was always engrossed with anime with high animation quality. Ashita no Nadja was a huge surprise for me with its smooth, emotive and dynamic animation quality. On occasions, the animations were re-used, on other occasions, the animations were movie quality. I also liked the stylistic choices of the character designs as well, the characters feel like you could recognize them from just their silhouettes.
I got so nervous when you were putting the baton together I held my breath I didn't want it to break 😭 I'm so glad you made this video!! I definitely have to give this series sandwiched between Doremi and Precure a good watch 💖
I've watched this series when it aired, and god i didnt know that i can feel anguish from forgotten memories It might sound odd but i really pity rosemary as a character back then, i believe that despite her treacherous acts, her actions are misguided due to her self-worth issue, misunderstanding, and herman making use of her broken psyche to turn her to who she is halfway to the story What made this pity stay in my heart towards her is a certain scene that shows her mentally broken on her secret room where she tries frilly dresses
I literally lost it when I saw the video title. I grew up on this anime and despite some of the (sadly) accurate age gaps that I hadn't even realized till I became an adult, it's a really good and engaging show. I'm so happy to see somone talk about it for once ❤
I have a feeling that this show is within that great area where certain scenes or lessons that we’ve learned from this show are clearly based on true events
I grew up watching this show and I vividly remember the scene of Rosemary ripping Nadja's mom's dress as one of the first moments I ever felt compelled to cry by a show. Thank you for making a video about it
I randomly thought of this anime this morning and looked up videos and stumbled upon your video. I googled if Nadja have any figures since I love collecting Gundam model kits and occassionally anime figures and saw Nadja did have a Nedoroid. It's an articulated chibi figure line made by Goodsmile Company for various anime and other stuffs such as movies and video games. But yeah I do agree it have a few merch available unlike others which have a lot.
The series seems intriguing and lately I have been watching a lot of shojo (and sometimes seinen). I love setting and found family troupe is my weakness so I am gonna give it a try ❤
I had just discovered Nadja last year, and I fell in love with it! While i do think the final chunk of the series was a bit too melodramatic for me, (not helped by Rosemary, I could literally not stand her!) it was a very enjoyable and fun experience I'll go back to watch! I'd say my favorite characters were probably Keith, Nadja, and Harvey. ☺Thanks for the awesome video!
Omggg I saw this a 3min edit of this anime and ever since I’ve always wanted to watch it! It looked so cute and sweet! I was captivated by its art style, the outfits, and it’s beautiful animation!😭 but I could never find it so I gave up! I’m so glad RUclips recommended this to me
I actually did watch this last year. Historically, it does a lot right like exploring the different countries. It does a lot of the background characters right like Keith, Rosemary, and the Dandelion Troupe. A lot of the art was pretty too despite the art style not being my favorite! Nadja's dance sequences were amazing and a lot of the scenery was gorgeous. I think the weakest part is Nadja and the ending of the love triangle. Nadja is very plain and simple, which is supposed to be charming but really doesn't make me like her. The background characters shine a lot more than her, the main protagonist. The love triangle was done so well and the screen time for it made me anticipate the next time the two would meet, but in the end they still are chasing after her and she ultimately chooses her own happiness. I don't hate that, but wasn't my favorite for Nadja (even though its in character for her). The two brothers and their story wasn't the focus, but I really wanted more to it? It felt incomplete and just unresolved. Maybe that's how its supposed to be, but I really was interested of how things would play out in the end.
Yeah, Nadja doesnt really stand out out compared to other earlier protags like Lady Lynn, Jeudi or Candy Candy, despite the narrative making it seem as if Nadja's this super unique girl. Rosemary won the 2004 Saimoe popularity contest for a reason, after all. As for the twins, I'm in the same boat. Sure, their differences regarding how they wanted to create social changes was resolved, but the anime never went in depth with the fact that Keith left the family for 6 years (assuming Keith and Francis are 16, Keith would've been 10 when he left school), nor did the anime go in-depth with what Amelia was truly like before she died. . .
Omg!!! I love this anime soo much! The story, characters, music and everything about is was top notch.I still think about this anime.I even named my camera after the main character Nadja :). I love your content and thank you so much.
Yeah, she emailed me into any type of thing in her adventurous. She can be able to participate in the dandelion troop, stage performance, becoming a dancer, or even fall in love with a handsome local lad.
SPOILERRR In the manga black rose and Francis are the same. In the anime they are brothers. Ill be honest i like francis being black rose, it makes more sense to me. The whole rosemary plot line kinda annoyed me, i felt it was unnecessary but they needed to extend it to 50 episode i guess.
I heard about this show through an AMV over 10 years ago (probably 15 years ago). I don't think the video exists anymore sadly since it WAS on my favs playlist but it got blocked I think *glares at RUclips*. Sadly while I could find a lot of info on the anime, I was never able to watch it. I was able to find a scene of when Nadja finds her mom and yeah I cried because reunions tend to make me tear up. FYI, with that AMV, I thought the male guy was the same person lol. It was set to Taylor Swift's Love Story song.
Great vid! I couldn't find the show anywhere online though. I did go on a deep dive of the wiki though. Staying on the vaguely princessy side of things, you should totally cover the DS game Princess Debut. It's a cute, quirky, kinda ridiculous, rhythm game. Even I was able to play all the routes and I have basically no rhythm. I mainly played it because of the cute art style though.
Ashita no Nadja aired on my country's national tv network when I was a kid, and I only saw a few episodes. I can tell the reasons the anime didn't click with me were: -I missed a few episodes, and then didn't know where the story was anymore -There was nothing fun and magical about Nadja for me. Nadja reminded me of Heidi (which I also didn't like) but with a more colorful cast, and the princess trope. I was never a fan of dancing either... Though Nadja was super pretty, it just felt very boring to me. So, now that I'm an adult I think I would appreciate Nadja much more. I think the story falls in a weird place. On one side, it has a lot of goofy, and silly moments (like the Hitman) that might make it less appealing for adults, but at the same time its story doesn't have enough stimuli for children. Not only that but its story falls more into inter-relationships, overcoming trauma, and growing as a person. They are great lessons for children but aren't fun. I think Nadja is more adequate for a 12 to 16 years old audience, and adults who still love shoujo. In my opinion it had bad marketing because they couldn't pinpoint their audience.
So apparently a person uploaded a theme song in English and in the comments they mention an unreleased English dub and when I found it, the dub in question seemed to be a fan dub. I was so sad when I realized.
I remember starting to watch this as it was airing since I wanted to see what was taking Doremi’s timeslot-never finished Nadja, but intend to someday! I have a Nadja coloring book and two Nadja plushies I picked up at anime conventions a loooong time ago 😊
The ART STYLE and the STORY and the SETTING are literally my KRYPTONITE I'm foaming at the mouth I need to watch this ASAP (tho I'm gunna be honest I really don't like the princely archetype bc I find them so boring as love interests and Francis looks like too old for Nadja but I'm VERY INVESTED in finding out if my mind can be changed on that one thing I'm wary about LMAO) (Also for people who wanna know where you can watch Nadja, gogoanime has it!)

They are releasing new merch of nadja like ojamajo doremi! It just went on pre release the brooch! 😊
This was the channel that introduced me to Ashita No Nadja. I finished it 2 months ago.

This is definitely a sign to do so! 😊✨

I discovered the OP for it at 9 years old and LOVED it!

one of the best shows indeed.
From what I’ve heard, Nadja wasn’t really all that popular so, they created Precure after Nadja aired.

I need to watch this ASAP! This show sounds like a targeted attack on me personally!
It actually has a Brazilian Portuguese dub (which is how child me watched it). The Portuguese dub is 10/10.
I remember starting to watch this as it was airing since I wanted to see what was taking Doremi’s timeslot-never finished Nadja, but intend to someday! I have a Nadja coloring book and two Nadja plushies I picked up at anime conventions a loooong time ago 😊
