- I hesitate to call this a vlog, since I fully intended this to be a release week vlog, filming on and off throughout the week. But obviously, that didn't happen. I also am sorry this video is late. I thought about not uploading it at all, since it's not what I had hoped it would be, but I filmed it, let's go ahead and share it.
Release day for my debut novel Lightbringer went so well. It was a relaxing day, which have been few and far between here recently. And while I'd like to say the same about the rest of the week, I can't lol
I feel like when it comes to self publishing, we hear a lot about the success stories, but not so much about the struggle, possibly because people are afraid to share those struggles, for fear of being perceived as negative. Those are valid concerns and ones I sympathize with.
But whether it's acknowledged or not, the fact of the matter is that self publishing is hard. It's hard to wear so many hats. It's hard to be responsible for everything yourself. It's hard to get everything done in the time you have. And inevitably, you won't have time for everything.
It's hard not to just see the mistakes I've made, or things I think I've done wrong, instead of the successes. I have made mistakes. Some things didn't go the way I wanted them (although that's thankfully with myself rather than the quality of my book, which I believe in 100 percent). Whether these mistakes are actually as big as they seem in my own mind, who knows. But the point is that I will learn from those mistakes and I won't make them again.
At the end of the day, I wrote and published a book, which is not something everyone can say, and that's something to be proud of.

Yay!! Congratulations 🥳🥳 I understand that initial feeling....it's a bit anti-climatic but any euphoria you're feeling usually drops off even more around the one-month mark. Either way, you've accomplished a lot by finishing the book, going through the process to have it published, and now having it out there for people to consume!
Yeah, it's also weird having the book done and not even out into the world yet and you're already moving on to the next book and the next book 😂
