- With The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes getting a movie adaptation, here is a breakdown of the plot points of the book. My intention for this video was to serve as a comparison, to see how accurate the movie is when compared to the book. And also a refresher if you read the book and can't remember what happened, but don't want to spend time re-reading it.

My name is Rachel Terry and I write Young Adult and Adult Fantasy, and Adult Historical Mystery. I grew up in a small town where nothing much ever happened, dreaming of grand adventures and far-away places, which I found between the pages of books. When not writing, I can be found reading, making RUclips videos, gaming with friends, or indulging in my love of history and the weather.

Hi Rachel! I read this book over a year ago and was looking for a detailed plot summary to help jog my memory before seeing the movie adaptation, and this video did an amazing job of that. You are such a well-spoken and engaging speaker, making this video very enjoyable and easy to follow. Thank you and keep up the great work! :)
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful :)
I would love to see a review of the movie
Honestly, I don't know that there's anything to say about the movie that the book doesn't cover. It's the most accurate book to film adaptation I've ever seen and I would respect the movie for that even if I hated it, which I didn't. But it's also hard to say I liked it, given the way it ends. I left the theater feeling empty, even knowing what was going to happen.
@RachelTerryAuthor thank you Rachel I'm on the fence about even giving it a watch
You should absolutely do a review on the movie if you are going to see it anyway. I'm giving the movie a pass unless I hear something good about it.
It's a tough one. It's the most faithful book to film adaptation I've ever seen, but as with the book, the pacing can feel a bit slow at times, since we're covering a span of time. I didn't dislike it by any means, but it's hard to say I liked it either, given the way it ends. I left the theater feeling pretty empty, even knowing what was going to happen.
Still, I think it makes a better movie than a book.
