    I am a hobbyist and a DIYer. I need a miter saw for a few upcoming projects. I spent a good chunk of the last 48h reviewing Lithium battery operated miter saws. I concentrated my research on the more popular brands like Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita, Metabo, and DeWalt. I was pretty much set on the M18 Fuel 2734-21 Milwaukee 10" miter saw as a best compromise, until I saw this video, and a few other reviews of this same FX7141A-1J Flex 12" miter saw by other popular reviewers. I just placed an order on ACME Tools for this miter saw based in good part on your review. Thank you very much!!

    Would you personally and honestly recommend this saw for demanding finish carpenter?

      I had a similar question too

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  5 месяцев назад +1

      Another guy asked this same question and I want to say yes, because of the ability to fine tune all the angles and bevels, but we don't do any finish carpentry work, so I can't honestly tell you that it'll fit your needs.

      Just looking at it it's basically a slightly modernized knockoff of Hitachi's original SCM from the late 80's. The good thing about that is they are basically as accurate as your ability to tune them because almost every component is independent of each other. The bad thing is that the ergonomics suck and your not going to be able to set this up in a hallway, which is always ideal when working with extra long stock.

    I have asked a couple RUclipsrs that have tested this saw and neither could give me an answer to this question. How is the deflection when sliding on a 45 bevel? I make and sell beam style mantels and have had issues with miter saws deflecting too much. I first had a Kobalt and it was terrible, it would be off at least 5-10 degrees on the furthest side. I have since switched over to a Metabo and it is much better. I personally love Flex and the majority of all my power tools are Flex, and with the release of the Brad Nailer, I don’t use any other cordless brand. Regardless of how well the deflection test performs, I wouldn’t replace it with my Metabo simply because of the slide location. The Metabo positioned the slide forward so you can have the saw almost against a wall. I am asking, because if I start doing more installs, I would set up a mobile work trailer and keep the Flex saw it.

      Hi Tom, as far as I can tell it stayed solid. I did a test cut (1/2" ply) and it seems to have kept the 45 bevel through the entire cut. It also stayed fairly square (90 degree to the fence) all the way out to max cut. I didn't however put it under stress conditions. I don't know if this helps, hope so. Been using this saw for the last month and it's performing great so far.

    I want your honest opinion this miter saw along with FLEX 10" table saw are these two tools good together for finished carpentry? If yes or no why?

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  5 месяцев назад +1

      I want to say yes, because of the ability to fine tune all the angles and bevels. However, we don't do hardly any finish carpentry work, so I can't honestly tell you that it'll fit your needs.

    As if I don't have enough tools. Well, another miter saw wouldn't hurt right. I mean it's battery powered. 😂

    Howdy Mr. Eric Mr. Ryan....Not a bad review.
    However, with my preference, I'd never buy it. The main reason, it's a battery operated "MAIN" tool for a shop. To me, that's a No Go. I believe Flex should reverse the selling point of that tool. The "plug in" should definitely come with it, no if's and's or but's and the battery should be the optional part.
    The other factor that kills the deal is that this is a "shop tool", not a "throw in the back of the truck go to the job site" tool. A sliding miter saw is "meant" to be placed in a specific location in the shop, a bench built specifically for that miter saw along with outfeed left and right supports. Once that's done, the saw never moves from its "home". This being the case, it makes a moot point for it to be battery operated.
    Because of those factors. This saw is a VERY Hard Pass with me. I'll stick with my Dewalt.

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  5 месяцев назад +1

      To each their own, but I spent 15 years doing construction and on every jobsite I've ever been on there's been multiple chop saws so I think you're a little off on that observation
