@@terichewbaccazulu5908 I like to eat it, and many others in Mesoamérica like to eat it, too, but it’s not the best chocolate experience because of its texture, although its flavor profile could be awesome if the artisans are mixing the right combination of spices with really good chocolate beans. However, it’s original purpose was for making hot chocolate and that’s why its texture isn’t an issue in our countries.

This past summer garlic mustard has been very invasive here in toronto. We were actually encouraged to forage it to prevent its spread. My partner made a very nice garlic mustard pesto.
Its incredibly invasive here in michigan (us) too. It also make the ground inhospitable to other plants(rather like walnut trees do) so it really takes a lot to get rid of it. I personally don't care for the flavor but im a supertaster and certain greens/herbs always taste off to me(yes I'm looking at you cilantro and arugula 😉🤣) my hubby says its okay to him. The chickens don't care much for it either. So it gets pulled and hot composted. And I found weed whipping the blooms off as many times as you can helps the spread of it. Lucky for me the field behind me is owned by a freind and he allows me to to that so it stops spreading into my yard.
I started baking with my mom when I was about 6 years old. By the time I was 9 or 10, I was pestering her to bake so much she finally just said, “You know what to do- go bake something.” I’ve been a hobby baker ever since and taught my own kids how to bake. Cook with your kids and keep the art of home cooking alive!
My mother worked full time and there were 7 of us kids. I have 5 older sisters and a little brother. She hates cooking and so since the cook doesn't have to do dishes at age 11 I started helping as I hate dishes. Absolutely hate washing up. So she taught me a lot of crock pot dishes and other shortcuts like getting home from school and putting 3 loaves of frozen bread dough out to rise for the week. But I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and great gran learning to cook(I think its because I love to eat really lol)and I slowly took over cooking and learning bread from scratch etc. My daughter had no wish to cook but my son did. Well years later and both my older grandkiddos love to cook with me with the baby wanting to be right in there with us. My daughter too has decided she likes to cook now and calls. Mom I did this wrong, how do I fix it or what can I do with this pork loin? Lol.
I love the lil' cooks one, I shared a house with my friend and her kids and the lil' two year old was already able to pull me the ingredients for making muffins despite my best wishes... low set freezers are the worst with toddlers abound. The tiny knew I was a) a sucker, and b) if he pulled the frozen fruit out and it was already thawing I was trapped into at least making something with it. Tinies love getting involved in cooking and if there are pre-measured easy to handle ingredients that make them aware of it as a timed event bonus.

I know! I was waiting for them to say that they'd used their code. The boys should look to see if the subscription boxes are linked to other youtubers like Bokksu is to Rachel and Jun, it'd be a cool way for them to introduce people to Jun's kitchen, lol
I feel bad about the chocolate one; I treat Tony’s chocalonely as a treat because it’s expensive, even though it’s far better for the whole supply chain, but buy dairy milk/galaxy regularly. Really it shouldn’t be that way, but it’s so deeply ingrained in me that £4 for a bar of chocolate is too much.
This! It’s so hard to change thinking on stuff like this, so don’t feel bad if it’s taking time. It’s the same with sustainable clothes I always feel robbed when I buy an ethical jumper for £40 but have to remind myself it’s the actual price of clothing when we aren’t harming others. It takes time to change that thinking but you’ll get there ❤️
@@amy3971 just remember it’s a journey, you aren’t going to be perfect straight away but by taking steps and learning you’ll be doing much more than most other people 😊
I find that a bit of an issue with quite a few videos like this. Because Sorted is in London, the prices are often a lot higher than I would expect to pay being from a region where the cost of living is lower. A lot of times, they say a price is reasonable when it's much higher than I would be willing to pay.
I really wish there wasn't this thought process where if something has sugar in it, it's not healthy. 'Healthy' means balanced, not avoidance. Sugar can absolutely be part of a healthy diet & demonising it is the thing that isn't healthy.
Amen to that! That was exactly my reaction! And cooking with your kids, giving them kitchen tips, helping them enjoy making food is part of a healthy lifestyle all by itself. Also, every single thing we eat does not have to be healthy.
Loved the Little Cooks box! I have a friend who can use this with his daughter. And since he'll be helping me move soon (hopefully), it'll be part of a great thank you gift.
I would have loved to have had the Little Cooks box back when my kids were younger. This works for around ages 4-8, if kids are older they won't go for it.
My dad gifted me a year subscription to Bokksu and I have to say 100% worth it. With every box they also include a monthly tea that’s supposed to go well with the snacks. It’s also a great way to sample snacks and figure out which one you like, and then go buy it at an Asian grocery store.
I would actually love to see a follow up video in about a years time where you go through the boxes that you guys actually ended up ordering for yourself and did you end up sticking with it or was there something that made you stop ordering it? :)
Excellent boxes that are great for yourself or a gift because it's never too early to start thinking about the holidays and of course birthdays, graduations, weddings. Wonderful content and I love how sustainable, ethical and thoughtful each one is.
Love the bromance! Mike chosing a box he knew Ben would enjoy is adorable. The exchange of dad knowledge between Jamie and Barry is endearing. Seeing this genuine care for each other is why I love Sorted and being apart of the community xx
The little cooks box was my favorite. I am not a parent yet (will be in a few days time) so it would be a long long way off for me. But as a little kid I loved little summer cooking classes I could take and would have loved something like that as a little kid!!! Also the dad chat with Barry and Jamie warmed my heart After we got past that terrible Daddy bit 🤣🤣🤣.
My parents did a foraging workshop a few weeks ago. Dunno if it’s the same company but they loved it. Basically a walk out in the woods then their guide cooked them a meal made of foraged stuff.
I've been a bokksu subscriber for a while and have made my friends addicted to it too haha. Now we have a whole friend group all texting eachother when our BOKKSUUUU ^^ arrives and reviewing each item with eachother 😁
I've been giving Universal Yums as family gifts for a couple of years now, and everyone loves it! Each month a box arrives from another country around the world, and they make an event of it. Someone reads all the descriptions and stories, some kits include a toy or game, and everyone gets a taste of everything and gives their review. 😊
@@joshp8535 It wouldn't necessarily need to be a filmed segment... could be her words and impressions read out (it could be either a different voice or a synthesized voice, even!) and pics of the ingredients and finished product.
I got the feeling it was sort of a taster thing to get you to go on one of their foraging courses!? I do wonder what they'll be sending to folk in the lean winter months though. I've been foraging for decades & it can be hard to find things at certain times & places. They must either be covering huge amounts of ground to forage enough wild stuff to post out or they're growing some things themselves.
You have a point, but also people probably don't forage because they don't inherently know what is poisonous or what you can work into your meals and in what way. I think they had a good idea here by introducing people to certain plants, what you can use them for and then giving a guide on where you can find them.
I've actually had the bokksu box myself! So exciting knowing what each of those things tasted like.. Also definitely recommend it, not everything suited my palette, but knowing it's authentic and from small businesses is worth it for sure!
Just gonna say a massive "THANK YOU" for doing the Earth & Wheat box last video (i think). I've had two boxes now and they've been absolutely top tier. They keep adding new things from new bakeries so they now do Naans and tea cakes. For £6.99 a month my freezer has a near constant supply of bread for every occasion!
Strongly against the forage box. Commercial foraging ravages the woodlands, taking more than is sustainable, and leaving little for the little man that wants to have a healthy sustainable seasonal diet. Buy a foraging book, join a group to help you double check your identifications. Don't feed the corporate body
And if you're not really, really careful, those foraged things can end up introducing invasive species. Garlic Mustard is a HUGE problem outside of its native environment, for instance.
I agree. Also, on one seems to be concerned about the waste from the individual packaging, the CO2 footprint of some of these boxes being shipped around the globe, the little cooks not learning about sustainability.
Interesting point, hadn't thought of that. Around here I know of people who go to a nearby nature reservation park and pick as much as they can from this and that although it is forbidden in those places. From disregard or poor knowledge I don't know but something like that forage box could increase that type of behavior.
Yeah, this is what I thought watching. I would have much preferred a rare ingredient box or something which sourced from small farms growing things that aren't typically commercially available. I know we have some farms in our area that grow things that you would typically have to forage for or grow yourself and they make them available at the local farmers markets. That's great for us here but not great for people in an area where that isn't happening. A box that included these kinds of things could encourage farms to actually grow plants meant for the area they produce on. Sad hypothetical box could include info about how you could go foraging for it if you were inclined along with contact info for buying directly from the farm. Support the farm and maybe encourage people to look into foraging or at least maybe get curious as to what might be local to where they live if they are willing to try something they haven't heard of before.
Y’all gotta do a forage day trip video! Would love to see what Ben and the food team whip up with a couple of those forage boxes, that’s such a cool idea!
Hey, that type of Mexican style chocolate is to dilute with milk or water. So you should make hot chocolate. Or at least is a copy of the one we use for that.
Those subtle expressions of joy of n Bens face when he eats the food their food team prepared for him is great. TBH that would be my expression as well. It looks very delicious and wild edibles is something I'm interested as well. I love foraging the stuff i do know about
14:40 I love the foraged box! I would absolutely subscribe if it was available in my area :D Sustainable, nature-focused and incredibly interesting! Thank you guys for including such an idea in the video! . Lots of love for the whole team!
I wonder if any of the guys kept one of the subscriptions showed throughout the series, or if they were all a one off? i have a Japanese snack box subscription and i love it. it's a treat for myself each month :D
OMG. So many soundbites from this video: Barry: "That's naughty!" Jamie: "Yes, Daddy." Barry: "No, Daddy!" if I hadn't had my phone on silent since 2017, I'd make a few text notification sounds or something!
Just a small correction. The bokksu box cost 39.95 if you order a 12-month subscription, its 49.95 otherwise. For me personally, that makes it slightly too expensive :(
You can buy the some of the ingredients of the Forage Box just as is without the subscription, which is awesome for those of us just wanting to try without the monthly expense. One of the problems with subscriptions is 'pausing' them is normally very hard and sometimes it's hard to get through all the stuff that comes in them, so having this option is great.
I'd love to see Ben learning how to forage since I've become quite interested in it myself from watching Atomic Shrimp and what kind of plants he whips out in his budget series, I would definitely love to see Ben taking inspiration from Mr Shrimp and picking it up as a hobby and, potentially, a skill to keep developing.
As someone who has spent a lot of time in Japan(living there), I don't think there were a lot of fishy snacks. Like with Senbei(and they have full aisles in grocery stores dedicated to Senbei) you'll find your Ebi(shimp) or Ika(squid) flavor and such but most are plain or soy sauce flavored. Then you also may find frosted and wasabi flavors(my favorites). Millions of flavored potato chips/crisps in all imaginable flavors. You must of been unlucky or that was their theme for the month. My favorite things usually came from randomly picking something from the unknown from Dagashi aisle and not know what it is.
@@TheBaldr we’ll probably, most of the flavors were not directly fishy. More seaweed and just tasted fishy. I think it was the more savory snacks actually. At the end of the box I realized Japan flavors don’t really suit me.
@@geomeopeoleo1740 You may be interested to know that the reason fish tastes fishy is because - fish eat algae! or a smaller creature, lower down the food chain, eats algae. eg You can buy vegan Omega 3 oil, made from algae - tastes of fish! it's weird for us, but maybe less so if you are used to eating seaweed.

It's always my favorite day to sit at the breakfast table with my dad and review what I got that month. Plus, I always share this with my folks, and we all get to try something new and fun while the supply of what we got lasts. The June Box was Summer Fruits and was a success in my household.
The forage box is such a great idea. So much to learn from experts without the risk of picking the wrong plant yourself. And they will probably also teach you how much to pick so that you preserve the spots to forage from in the future.

@@superboysdad I’m from El Salvador, too, and had just commented the same thing. Have you tried Belú Cacao chocolates? She’s won international prizes for her artisanal chocolate and her delicious tablilla has cinnamon, coriander seed and nutmeg. Best hot chocolate I’ve ever had!
The company Taza is based in Massachusetts, USA. Around here, we usually eat it straight. People either love it or hate it because of the texture.
The Mexican one you have to use it with milk to make hot cocoa. That is how it is used in Mexico.
As a Mexican I can confirm that, you're doing it so wrong, that's why it's sandy
I had a friend when I was young that taught me how to use the abulita chocolate to make the best hot chocolate with a wooden beater/blender stick. The guys are missing out.
6:13 Barry's laugh at "This is Taza~" is so precious :D
It would be so cool if y'all can do a collab with "Tasting History with Max Miller", I have a feeling Ben would enjoy geeking out
Yesssss! Max would be having a moment as well.
I love Max!
That would be delicious
Perhaps Max making a historical dish and them modernising it.
@@therealbadboat5503 I love that idea. Sorted food, please make it happen 😍
Lol.
I hit rewind at, "yes daddy" three times just to focus on individual reactions, they were fantastic
I think Ben's initial reaction is my favourite. The sharp inhale and frown combo was exactly the right response to that comment
“spoiler alert. great alternative for garlic or mustard” uno what Mike. I would have never guess that one
You are so welcome 😉
I love the lil' cooks one, I shared a house with my friend and her kids and the lil' two year old was already able to pull me the ingredients for making muffins despite my best wishes... low set freezers are the worst with toddlers abound. The tiny knew I was a) a sucker, and b) if he pulled the frozen fruit out and it was already thawing I was trapped into at least making something with it. Tinies love getting involved in cooking and if there are pre-measured easy to handle ingredients that make them aware of it as a timed event bonus.
I feel we need a Jamie and Barry battle with the kids "helping"
Yes 😍
Children are a hard pass from me.
@@escapist83 If you mean in regards to the ethics of having small children on camera when they're too young to understand that they are giving permission to potentially be publicly visible forever, I get not endorsing it.
If you mean just that children kind of get on your nerves, then that's fine too, but I'm pretty sure everyone has a few videos that they just aren't interested in from their favorite content creators. Ignoring a video and waiting a few days for the next one is free.
I was thinking of something like this for a while too. Not sure if they want their kids involved in the show though.
@@tohrurikku Yeah, its a *Big* step to put your children in front of almost 2.5 million people.

You've done a few of these now, I'd be curious if you've kept up with any of these for a longer period of time and what you think having received a few of the same kit. E.g. If you've changed your mind on subscribing or are continuing to enjoy them month after month.
Love that we get to see the 4 of you getting each other gifts and reviewing them for everyone
me hearing bokksu snack box :
"Rachel and Jun is that you?" 😆

It takes time to change that thinking but you’ll get there ❤️
@@rebeccas2801 funny enough I was having the same thought process about clothes earlier on! Thank you for your kind words x
I've been dying to try a Tony's bar, but I have no idea how to get one aside from spending $20 plus shipping. It's crazy.
The ‘Little Cooks’ Dessert looks so good. It’s like a Buttercup, Bounty, Twix and a Pie.

same here. also it made me notice that the box they have is a older box so it gives us a idea when this was likely recorded.
@@sirBrouwer Oh that's interesting, when was it recorded, if you don't mind mentioning?
Ye should have a look at irelandsartisanpantry , being getting it for the last few months , different county every month and have loved it !
Love the bromance! Mike chosing a box he knew Ben would enjoy is adorable. The exchange of dad knowledge between Jamie and Barry is endearing. Seeing this genuine care for each other is why I love Sorted and being apart of the community xx
I actually enjoy the episodes where everyone is happy with their gift much more, it's very fun
I'd love to see forage box used on a pass it on. Be interesting seeing them use ingredients they aren't e experienced with.
Being an absolute novice baker, i always panic when my kids want to make cakes or cookies etc, that little chef box is such an excellent idea
There are some good cookbooks that are designed for kids, easy to measure and usually foolproof recipes.
But... I thought the OG dad of Sorted was Ben and his lil's Tyrone
Tyrone will never be forgotten!!! #respecttyrone
The little cooks box was my favorite. I am not a parent yet (will be in a few days time) so it would be a long long way off for me. But as a little kid I loved little summer cooking classes I could take and would have loved something like that as a little kid!!! Also the dad chat with Barry and Jamie warmed my heart
After we got past that terrible Daddy bit 🤣🤣🤣.
Congratz in advance 😄
This sort of vids are always so good I’m very excited

I think we need Evie to test the Little Cooks kit.
There is no way I'd put my kids on the internet. I'm more than happy if they decide to not do that.

Question about the forage box: isn’t half the fun in foraging the food yourself?
I got the feeling it was sort of a taster thing to get you to go on one of their foraging courses!?
I do wonder what they'll be sending to folk in the lean winter months though. I've been foraging for decades & it can be hard to find things at certain times & places. They must either be covering huge amounts of ground to forage enough wild stuff to post out or they're growing some things themselves.
Yes, but if you don't know what or where to forage what a great introduction
Sure, but not everyone has the means or ability to do that.
You have a point, but also people probably don't forage because they don't inherently know what is poisonous or what you can work into your meals and in what way. I think they had a good idea here by introducing people to certain plants, what you can use them for and then giving a guide on where you can find them.
Oh I LOVE Bokksu! They offer a smaller sized box too and have a full online store for almost everything they feature.
So disappointed that you guys didn't do the Mexican hot chocolate with it. That really looked like what you should of done with that one.
Love the fact that recently all four of you have been in all the videos. I feel like the comedy is best when everyone is on the screen.
I've actually had the bokksu box myself! So exciting knowing what each of those things tasted like.. Also definitely recommend it, not everything suited my palette, but knowing it's authentic and from small businesses is worth it for sure!
I was buying Bokksu a few years ago. It’s actually really nice, you get some unique snacks you won’t find even in the usual shops out there.
very strange that the box didnt warn them to mix the taza into drinking chocolate
Thanks for raising this POV. I can see why it would not be a good idea

I simply LOVE that you all are using the antique soda bottle from the vintage soda stream as another vessel for water!! So cute!
OMG. So many soundbites from this video: Barry: "That's naughty!" Jamie: "Yes, Daddy." Barry: "No, Daddy!" if I hadn't had my phone on silent since 2017, I'd make a few text notification sounds or something!
15:49 that was slick because he indeed did not see that. He was looking away. So close to getting away with that! 🤣
I love Ebbers concentratey chef face with all his new ingredients
Dad Jamie is my favorite Jamie. Also, well done Mike. That is the most Ebbers box I have ever seen.
Just a small correction. The bokksu box cost 39.95 if you order a 12-month subscription, its 49.95 otherwise. For me personally, that makes it slightly too expensive :(
If you use the code REVIEWGIRLS10, you can get 10% off from the first box (45 is still not cheap, but maybe a bit better? 😀)
Doesn't matter what Sorted does, i'm here to support and watch i love you guys
I'd love to see Ben learning how to forage since I've become quite interested in it myself from watching Atomic Shrimp and what kind of plants he whips out in his budget series, I would definitely love to see Ben taking inspiration from Mr Shrimp and picking it up as a hobby and, potentially, a skill to keep developing.
Love watching his 1£ a day meal videos.
I’ve had bokksu before, it’s a good one time box. Just remember Japanese flavors-didn’t realize I don’t like fishy flavors, that was half the box.
@@helenswan705 I love most seaweeds and have 2 or 3 in the house at all times and I bet thats what the op is tasting too. My hubby thinks some seaweed tastes like fish. I told him the same. Fish eat seaweeds and so fish taste like seaweeds lol.

@@Emeraldwitch30 Sea grapes? New one on me but sounds lovely, can't wait to try it!
Like a day late but, the mexican intention for that mexican style chocolate is drinking. You would have a "molinillo" (big wooden pitch with a lid and a sort of mixer) wich helps disolve the bar on hot water (or milk if u posh)
Question for Ben:
Since these are all boxes, and information on boxes, does that mean these shows are boxes briefs?
I love to see wild foraged style ingredients as opposed to so many supermarket things. It really makes my day

Similar to a previous video where the boys had to use a gadget from a gadget review vid in an battle, what would be great was if they had to use the ingredients from one of the kits to make a meal for Ebbers
I'm lucky enough to live coastally where alexanders grows abundantly, and the seeds are totally delicious, with a very perfumey pepper flavour - they are, however, a bugger to grind. The stems are good too, especially candied, when they become like very fragrant angelica.
