- BEST TOPWATER FISHING SESSION I'VE EVER FILMED //
On this insane episode of Abenz Fishing, I went out with my wife to put my new topwaters to the test and boy did we test them. It ended up being the best topwater fishing I've ever been able to film. We caught so many giants, canal tuna were absolutely RIPPING up the spook and the stars aligned.
My wife broke an unofficial world record as usual and we had an insane time. I kept this video raw and included all the fight time to keep it real. There is nothing like topwater fishing.
I just met this guy yesterday in Stuart with my family. I have to say this guy is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He even gave me his Abenz spook bait in the same color that he caught this 40 pound plus Jack for free!! Thanks again Aron you are the man and I will always continue watching your videos on catching giants!!!!!!

im running a rear single on all of my spooks now, pretty much all plugs other than pencil poppers. once in a blue moon you'll find it affecting the action, and then you just use a giant single. probably a 7/0 or a 9/0 on a plug that big. could even rock an 11/0 with jack that size. you reduce the frequency of fouling significantly. when trebles foul it's often on the head, gills, shoulders, and the fish wear the plug like a harness and get a ton of leverage. hookup rates will definitely go down a little, but fouling goes down to almost nothing, and it's easier on the fish.
I’ve run single hooks before, it’s not bad, a lot of the stick baits I used have them and it makes unhooking so easy

Crazy thing about Jacks is that one might survive having a big shark bite taken out of hid back. They’re some tough SOBs

Good stuff man, one question I always wonder watching your videos is how are you finding these spots/fish. Are you just cruising around looking for action on the surface? Also what area are you mostly fishing? Tampa bay? Any info on how your getting on these beats would be awesome!
Thanks for watching, I’m in south east FL - I typically use side scan, that’s the best way to find them - I also look for surface obstruction, current, primarily rips, troughs, etc

so i finished the video. seems like the 35 lber pulled harder than the 40 lber. why? you're getting fouled with a second hook, probably during the fight, on these fish. there's a lot of real estate on the side of a jack and they're strong. it's hard to turn them anyway. when the plug is in the mouth you can get leverage and turn them. when they're getting fouled by the second treble you'll feel them hit a second gear at some point through the fight and they'll turn away and run. think of it like if you had a hook in your face and you were trying to pull something, and then all of a sudden it's in your back or shoulders and you now can turn and run. consider crushing the rear treble so it pops out in that spot, or do what i do, run a big single back there and crush the barb down to nothing. singles almost never foul and they're surprisingly hard for fish to shake. i like bkk singles but they're expensive.
Dude TRUE that, it’s exactly what’s happening. Plus some fish are just stronger or find rips - I may switch to single hook on rear
