The lore of this game being understandable is pretty badass. A Warcraft lore video of the same length would only be enough to cover like… the early childhood of a tertiary character lol
Watching this while Hurricane Milton comes to my area and I’d like to say you have a comforting voice. Thanks for sharing the lore of one of my comfort games :)
Love this video and what you put together! Really cool to see someone diving into the RS lore and the editing+narration is great! Can't wait to see more from you!
I apologize for any errors or inconsistencies in pronunciation of in-game lore names, I will work on making that more consistent with future videos. As well, this is a new format of video for the channel, so I will also work to polish these kind of mini-doc videos. RuneScape is a game with a vast amount of lore, so it was a challenge to find what I deemed most important to cover in this shorter length video. You did great dude, keep up the good work. This was helpful for someone whose head is too full of elder scrolls lore to process what's going on in this goofy gem of a game.
Bruv, you are going to be big. I am happy i was here so early. In time, this will be a positive vision of the past. You be successful if you keep this work up. Great job.
New to OSRS but this was an easy watch and very interesting. Hope you keep making videos, buddy - all you need is one to catch fire and, assuming your other content is also as high quality as this seems to be, you should be all good. Don't stop the effort! 😁
@@WhatWasInbetween RS3 is the original game, and has progressed the lore over twenty years of time; OSRS was created in 2013 and is based off of a 2007 backup of RS3, this essentially created two different continuities: RS3 lore and OSRS lore. In RS3, the timeline progresses and the gods return to Gielinor, being directly involved in quests and events, its generally a lot more high fantasy and about world-ending stakes. Meanwhile OSRS has a much more subdued trajectory, with no gods or anything, and generally remaining focused much more on mortals and smaller scope events. The devs have outright said that the Gods won’t appear in OSRS, and theres also an entirely different continent in OSRS which doesn’t exist in RS3 called Zeah (and vice versa, RS3 has regions that don’t exist in OSRS)
This is a great idea for a video and honestly just wanted to comment and say that the idea of the channel is amazing and you will see great success if you keep creating content of such good quality.
Hopping on the train as the 650th subs to see what'll be in a year both with the lore and the channel, great work! I'd love to see some kind of lore vid of the crazy events that have happened in the last few years, like the Saradoming vs Zamorak or fall of Tuska events were pretty cool!
Not to be that guy, but Guthix went to sleep in first age, because he realized the mortal races were beginning to start worshipping him. He adviced the races to not go down this path for this has previously caused the strife among races and the idea of Gielinor was to not have an all powerful deity, but be a balanced paradise where no god or king would rule the lands singlehandedly.
Very cool video; I was actually wondering about the world's lore recently! I never knew the 5th age was focused on humanity! I am glad that I can be a part of it
i was a bit unsure of your heavily relaxed tone but then you describe your channel as relaxing video game lore and im all for it. somehow the acknowledgement made me love it? my brains odd but u pog
you know what's crazy, the ending implies that there will be an end-game lore raid to fight the devourer, Like Runescape 3's ED4, Zamorak's Undercity Elite Dungeon 4 to fight Zamorak, which was RS3's biggest god threat, but since the devourer is osrs's biggest god threat, that'd be the lore-wise end-game level raid boss. Which is crazy to think that toa being an entry level raid compared to tob and cox to learn, and then in a few years have another beaneath cursed sands part 2 desert themed raid deeper in ToA if they expand behind the pyramid a whole other underground city to unlock after completing beneath cursed sands quest pt. 1 and meeting reqs for part 2. would make sense too, because youd find an ancient city that would fit the lore of it being so old its buried underneath ToA. It would be so insane to think about that being pulled off like actually omg
I think if I was to ask for anything, it would be videos going through each and every expansion of osrs and talking about what it adds to the lore. Tons of content, and with you editing style and narrative elements I think it would be such a good fit for you
Even some shorter-form content (15-30 mins) on individual topics/areas etc would be awesome (for all games, not just runescape!). Plus, hopefully those might be a little easier/faster for you to make and more algorithm-friendly :)
12:55 "Some of the main players in the god wars were Zamorak, the newly ascended God of Chaos, Saradomin, the God of Order, Armadyl, the God of Justice, Bandos, the God of War, and Zaros, though absent in physical form, he continued to influence the world through his followers and artifacts and he may return later in the story." I still find it wild that Bandos agreed to ally with Saradomin and Armadyl to team up against Zamorak during the God Wars lol
this would be really good to get an audio transcribe for, since its a long video maybe with the help of an ai tool you can. It'd be good data for chat gpt to then catch up on lore for osrs and be extremely useful for creating clan events with accurate lore descriptions of objectives and stuff would be cool rp. can't wait for the varlamore video

I never cared about the lore of this game. This video, however, sparked my interest to this intricate world. Thank you for the foundational knowledge. Now I wished that I paid attention instead of skipping dialogue lol.
I’m wanting get back into this game but having not touched it since 2003 I’m wanting to find a video documenting the changes over the years any recommendations?
Through my 20 years of playing runecape, I have never actually cared about the lore. I've on multiple accounts spacebared through new quests as soon as they came out for various gameplay benefits, killed some bosses here and there, grinded countless hours and achieved 200m xp in most skills except a couple of combat ones, and decided to quit rs3 a without even reaching 120 necromancy, only to start on osrs and go through the same path. It's just been a video game with optional reading that I never bothered with because I wanted to achieve things. However, after sitting through your lovely and interesting video, I'm now considering making a new account to start rs3 fresh for the sake of learning the lore instead of grinding skills more than I have to for quest requirements (and possibly a few gameplay benefits). Thanks for opening my eyes to this side of the game. Great video!
IIRC, what woke Guthix up was specifically Zamorak using the Stone of Jas as a weapon that completely turned the entire region of Forinthry into a dead wasteland, the Wilderness as we know it today. The fallout was so terrible that it was literally the only thing that made Guthix intervene
Great video, I shared it with all my osrs buddies :) P.s. You pronunciation is no worse than I've seen in this community already and that's from people that have been playing for 20 year lmao
Guthix didn’t create the anima mundi he regulated it in an effort to keep the balance of the world and keep the sleepers in stasis. Anima is a product of life existing and the more life thrives on a plane the greater it becomes but overflowing anima can create gods so Guthix did his best to keep it under control
This is cool, but i see no mention of the player who convinced me to be their boyfriend and then killed me to steal my stiff
Not the RuneScape e dating
Damn, made you their BF and stole your stiffy.
