“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
“ 4 Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!” Psalm 141

How many psalms used this same pattern of, “Give us not X, but instead give us Y,” for praying? The prayer isn’t saying that we somehow expect God to do the bad thing (X). It’s simple contrast!
Portuguese and Spanish translations are better than yours here, guys. We in Brazil say at the end of "Our Father prayer", "Let us not fall into temptation, but deliver us from evil". ("E não nos deixes cair em tentação, mas livra-nos do mal" [João Ferreira de Almeida translation]). The only thing we still need to correct is to replace "evil" for "evil one", wich is, as a matter of fact, a better translation according to greek.
God does allow our faith to be tested, but if we are tempted to do evil as a result, then He is never the source. A person who exhibits authentic faith looks at his circumstances, and, in the midst of temptation, recognizes that though God may have allowed trials to come, the desire to break His law is not from Him.
@@1Whipperin JAMES 1:13-15 “Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted by God,’ for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one” (James 1:13).
The Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness is proof of Christ’s divinity. God tempts no one. The Bible makes this clear. If Jesus was merely a man and was led into temptation by the Spirit, then God led someone into temptation. But if Jesus is God, then God went forward on His own accord to be tempted Himself.
I don’t get the whole temptation of Christ because God can’t be tempted by sin. So was Christ tempted by sin or was he put to the test? Satan kept testing his Godhood in the desert. Or was he tempting him to sin? If it was tempting to sin then Christ can’t be God right since God can’t be tempted by sin?
The issue seems to be with your definition of temptation. In the Bible, temptation is not, “succumbing to the urge.” Rather it means, “being presented with the urge.” Basically, you’re adding the next step - succumbing *to* temptation - to the definition of temptation. How could you fall to temptation if falling were part of the definition? I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m just repeating the same nonsense over and over… 😅
i thought under calvinism, god ordains all our sins, according to calvin himself. so, of course god tempts us because it is his ordained plan. thatnis what separates clavinism from the simple reading of the Bible

weird it says, "don't let my heart" as if the reprobate could read this and actually "let" or desire anything.

Jesus teaches us to pray so that our souls would be connected directly and instantly with heaven, God the Father.

Lead us not into temptation, we already know where it is.
I miss Harry!!

We are also have to love our mother Mary the angel Gabriel did so we are less then angels.

Jesus is the son of god, the son of Mary, the angel Gabriel told her so.
