    I had a Dinky Toys one of these and I still have a chrome-gold Ed Straker's car, also by Dinky. I don't know where they've all gone but I used to have an SPV from Captain Scarlet. a S.H.A.D.O. 2 vehicle and an Interceptor with a large missile in the nose. Gerry Anderson and his whole team were amazing and way ahead of their time.

    • @JennySparkz
      @JennySparkz 6 месяцев назад

      Captain Blue's SPV was the pinnacle of corgi toys for me, along of course with the Eagle transporter and Thunderbird 2. Bless my parents for picking up on my love of those individual vehicles as I received both as either Christmas or birthday presents. As for the Interceptor, sigh, another absolutely amazing and inspired feat of engineering. The minds of the guys behind the designs of so many nay ALL Anderson vehicles were amazing. Never came across one I did not love.

    love the illustrations of craft which have adopted some of the Jet Air Car's tech. although the car itself would look a little big on British roads, especially on rural ones. at least you could get to destinations a lot quicker by flying half the way.

    I have finally seen where the inspiration for the front cabin of this vehicle came from.
    The Rover P6BS prototype of 1967. The cockpit and the headlight pods are clearly taken from the first version.
    A shame it, and its successor the P9, were killed off by Sir William Lyons of Jaguar, he was worried it would effect E-Type sales.
    It would have been the UK's first production mid-engined Road Car, and 2nd only to the Lamborghini Miura in terms of speed.
    If it had entered production it would been sold, as an Alvis. As it was, that was the first marque, to be killed off in the great British Leyland mash up. :'(
    ***
    Rover also did a lot of Jet Turbine powered, experimental cars. Jet 1, using the P4 body design. T4 using a P6 prototype. And of course the 1965 Rover-B.R.M. Le Mans Race Car. Using a jet engine to power the vehicle, would naturally inspire an Anderson flying car (again).
    Only ever seen one episode that featured the car.
    Had 2 of the Dinky toys though. Needed an HP7 Battery to make the Engine (Afterburner) glow.

      Especially showing a clip from 'Hijacked', where Joe kills four people with bullets and a hand grenade. I always wondered if the brain patterns transferred to Joe were edited in any way - you're giving a child the thoughts and ideas of adults - some times very bad adults - were all the objectionable things filtered out? In the episode 'Three's A Crowd', Joe, suspicious of Angela Davis, secretly records her brain patterns to see if he's right to be worried. He is. She's a spy. But that's not the troubling thing: nine year old Joe has been wandering about the mind, thoughts, and memories of someone who seduces men to gain their secrets. There have got to be a few very, very dark corners in there!
      I've always loved the show, but watching it as an adult, you do get the feeling occasionally, that, maybe, that something very odd is going on, that not everyone would approve of. It would certainly not be greenlit as a show today.

      The puppet in question is actually Puppet #49, most prominently seen as President Olafson in the Captain Scarlet episode Codename Europa.
      However, it is believed that Puppet #49 may indeed have been modified from the original pre-Mysteronised Captain Black puppet in the pilot episode of that series, so you could well be right!

      Voices change over time. There's also nothing to contadict it being built in 2010.

    • @sskywatcher
      @sskywatcher 3 года назад +2

      @@ACtheLegend I think actor Ed Bishop had a very easily identifiable voice right up until his death in 2005. The voiceover sounds nothing like him.
      As for the Joe90 timeline, I believe it was aimed at being around the same time as Thunderbirds or Captain Scarlet (which were set one hundred years in the then future).
      In addition, the UFO series was set in a (future) 1980 which would make "General Straker" very unlikely to be still serving in the military 30 years later in 2010 and even less likely to be commenting on the design of a car in 2021

    • @sskywatcher
      @sskywatcher 3 года назад +2

      Just read that the series was actually set in a "near future" 2013, but that still puts Ed Straker out of the picture 33 years after UFO was set

    • @ACtheLegend
      @ACtheLegend 3 года назад +1

      Straker served as head of the WSS until the day before his 80th Birthday (just under a year from this video), then retired from active duty. Trust me, I did think these things out before I wrote them. :)
