People don't realize how BRILLIANT the guy that went to the printer shop did .. that is basically the olden day method of getting FREE blueprints and you learn it for FREE. Genius.
I'm more amazed at the fact he and his friends can travel for a year long
Yeah. Plus they cannot call back to US throughout the whole trip?! What a bunch of BS!
they probably had 12k saved. It is much cheaper to live in those countries so it's not that hard to believe
@@christianthecopywriter Definitely would cost more than 12K. They went to Korea that's not cheap.
@@christianthecopywriter i think u need to research better +tickets to go in that countries( i assume he didt cross the ocean on commercial vessels)

I read the book and this video pretty much nails the salient parts of the entire book. It wasn't as insightful as I hoped. A book that does stand out is "Made to Stick" which forces on memory and recall.
who's the author? are you sure it's not "make it stick" by peter c. brown?
@@TheInternetFan Yes indeed it is make it stick🤝cheers
@@Sangdeep12 Some fairly delicious irony going on here.
Exactlyyyy. “Make it stick”
“Ultralearning”, unfortunately, isn’t as exciting as I thought it would be.
I love this "You need to take the learning process into your own hands"
Summary:
1. Create a metalearning map - What concepts to learn, what facts are required, what steps/procedures to take
2. Design practice drills - to ingrain challenges
3. Overlearn - Find out whats target learning and what is next learn and learn the next level.
If you are too lazy to read the book I get it. If you are too lazy to watch a 9 minute video then there is no hope for you
😂😂😂
@@loujon191if you are too laborious, and are against shortcuts, and smart ways, then I am hopeful for your future in mining company! All the best!
1. Make a Metalearning Map - What you need to understand, memorize, and practice - 2:50
2. Design Practice Drill - To solidify concepts and procedures - 5:40
3. Overlearn - Practice at a 'higher level' )material that's coming ahead - 7:22
I bought the book and havent finished it yet. It has a lot of filler content. It reminds me a lot of when I search for a pancake recipe and find one in the internet but its buried under 3 pages of "Just like you I loved pancakes as a kid, they remind me of a warm nurturing environment. Back in the day I used to play with toys........"
True
i hate this, lack of objectivity
That's why I like these summaries. In reality, most help books or improve your life books can probably be summarized in a few pages...
The more I watch this channel, the more I learn and save time by only focusing on the books that seem really interesting. This channel is like the teaser for these books, really really good. Thank you for doing this!!👍
You’re changing lives! 💙
I wake up at 3.30am and go for my walk and workouts. I listen to no music, rather I play your vids instead. It’s the golden hour of my day and I thank you, for the work you do for us, and a couple other knowledge sharing greats on the net. Thank you 🙏🏻
I read a book called "Self-university" by Charles D. Hayes. This book changed me forever when i was starting college May I suggest a video summary for this book in the future it will help the community a lot.
Are you sure?
@@saikumar-ts2rd when in doubt, give it a read It's pretty awesome
@@hackedtechnothief yeah
By the finding a book reading friend is finding a dinosaur in this world at present!.
Nice to talk to you brother.
I just started reading books 4 months ago
I'm reading daily 41 pages like that.
If you gotta recommend some books
I would love it.
@@saikumar-ts2rd I don't know your interests so it may vary. But my Favs to read are from underdogs stories:
-Do Cool Sh*t by Miki Agrawal
-Creativity inc. By Ed Catmull
There is a lot of good reviews from: Can't Hurt me by David Goggings [but I haven't read it yet]
If you like really comic truths then by all means:
Author "Tim Kreider" has these 2:
-"Lazy: A manifesto" (15 min. blog, this one is a must hear on youtube it's so truthful and entertaining that you will be knock out of the park, trust me on this one)
-"We learned nothing" also by Tim kreider, these are stories told in a trutful hurtful manner for different types of situations, it's really funny too"
I used to hear the "Tim ferris" podcast back in the day which really help a lot if you're into self-improvement but now I just pursue other types of entertaintments
Hope this helps a lot
@@hackedtechnothief omg really thanks alot
Really a great content.
I'll check them all!.
Where do you get all these?
I mean you must be experienced full time improvement on yourself
Great summary, thank you! For me, one of the key steps named here is just sitting down and getting CLEAR on what you're trying to learn.
For people like me who have no access to a library and can’t buy every book I want to read, your videos are a godsend. You summarize the contents of a whole book in such a simple and visual way. If you are doing it on your own, it’s quite a time consuming job. Do you need permission from the authors/publishers to do this? I wonder why you don’t have much more subscribers!
Assalam alaikum Ruksana. I greeted you with greetings of peace because your names reflect that. Pardon me if it is not so. Diving into your question to productivity game, I guess this is a marketing strategy being used here. Once we go through the one page summary then we are left wanting more so we go for more, ending up purchasing the book
Lali Mwachanya , Walaikumassalam, brother. I thank you for your insight. I find their content so good that I haven’t felt the need to buy any book yet.
@@rehasana Assalam alaikum Sis. That's the proper use of technology. If you haven't already subscribed to the channel please consider doing that. There is great stuff there.
I just discovered your channel two days ago and I am constantly watching your videos. It is so interesting that in 8 to 10 minutes you have an overall experience of the book. Keep it up man. Kudos.
Wow this video is excellent!! In the 10 minutes I took to eat lunch as I listened to this video (which is the duration of this video) I’ve learned so much!!
Love it wow!
@@oldstoic3154 Haha I'm trying my best to apply everything I learn in my current career as I'm pursuing music full time now!! Have a good day!
Just want to tell you that you became my favorite go to videos in youtube every day when I have a free time before doing my online job or while I am doing other things. It's helpful and effective.
As an older individual, I am deeply interested in this topic as i am trying to learn some tech topics later in life and I am concerned about the time aspect of my endeavor. I didn't read his book, but I did go to his website where he lays out in great detail the curriculum of his MIT challenge. He's an incredibly honest individual and shows you his final exams and grades. The results are, perhaps predictably, less than stellar.
I took his numerical grades for almost all the courses (there were a few I couldn't tell what grade he assigned himself), and assigned letter grade to them based on a four point scale as follows: 90% - 100% A, 80% - 89% B, 70% -79% C, 60%-69% D, < 60% - Fail. The breakdown for 23 courses was as follows: A -2 ; B - 4 ; C - 10 ; D - 5 ; F - 2. Full grade point average for the entire course load: 1.96.
It's a fair question to ask how well did he actually learn the material. If you went to an entry level tech company job with this background and performance level would you be overwhelmed? Would you even get a job offer?
Note: I'm not denigrating his effort here. He completed a four year MIT computer science degree requirement in one quarter of the time at a minuscule fraction of the cost. That's to be lauded.
I'm just wondering at what cost to his level of knowledge at that point. i think it's a legitimate question.
EDITED TO ADD: The author of this video does a nice job of indirectly pushing back on the point of what I've written above. He states he's an engineer by training and only used 5% of what he learned in school, which though it also was my experience with an MBA, is still kind of shocking. I figured tech was different.
The moral as always, watch the vid before commenting. HA!
This was extremely helpful. I'm trying to follow Ali Abdaal's study techniques based on Peter C. Brown's bestseller 'Make It Sick'. Now I'll try to weave in Scott's tips as well.
Absolutely love this channel. Third video i watched in a row. Cal Newport's Deep Work, Greg McKeown's Essentialism & this, Scott Young's Ultra Learning. Thank you.
I agree when I had completed my bachelors in engineering I didn't have the basic concepts clear. All I have learned so far is to push myself and working practically.
Best summary ever so far, thank you!
this video was so well made. i know because making notes on it was basically just a copy of how YOU explained it. keep it up king
Very grateful to you, Nathan. This book has been lying in Google Books for over a month. and today I know the gist of it.

great work once againg, thank you and have a great day.
Holy outstanding summaries! I had to subscribe. Keep up the amazing work and thank you🙏.
I learnt more in 1 year in my first job as a coder than all of university. They don’t teach real tools and real skills at university. When pushed into the deep end, and given work you have to complete but no idea how to, but your pay check depends on results, boy you learn fast. I was like a sponge. I can see why entrepreneurs like Steve jobs , bill gates et al.. didn’t Goto university. 🤯
Great video...New horizons..
Something about this method really speaks to me
Added to my this year s reading list. Thank u.
I have read it too...amazing book. Highly recommend it

Great Summary

This process is very similar to Josh Kaufman’s rapid skill acquisition process
Thank you.
Great video and summaries. As a heads up, when I try sign up for the pdf one page summaries the link doesn't work
So.. how about Attention Deficit Disorder and Ultralearning? What do you guys think? I feel like I couldnt do it...
Think about it. Go to university to get a degree in architecture. Then get shocked because your degree isn't good enough to land you a job. Then take learning into your own hands and only after that landing a job.
That experience is not uncommon. I know about similar instances in engineering and agricultural sciences. The worst is when you invest a lot of time and money to earn a post graduate degree and it's practically useless in terms of employment value.
This kind of learning is definitely the future path. Web development is booming and many people follow this pattern with great success.
Awesome,great work,thankyou a loooot !!
Thank you for your work!
Keep doing the great work
Hi Productivity Game, thanks for making such great videos and inspiring thousands of people.
I wish to make such videos by compiling a summary of various books but i am not sure how to get the permission for copyrights of each book. I have already contacted many book publishers for the same.
My target audience is in india and language is non English. I would love to share the wonderful information in these books to non English speaker and inspire them.
Can you guide me through the steps you take to make such videos?
Thnx for the summary!
So you draw pictures of the authors on every book and vid? Very cool. I'm a fan. Nice touch.👍
Hey Nathan arn’t you concerned of getting infobese from reading all these books?
Hey man! Great vid, I’m learning web development and this is exactly what I needed to learn fast. I just tried to get the pdf but once I enter my email and try to subscribe the website gives me an error. Is there any other way to get it? Thanks!
Ok I'll try this
Great, great book
Thank you
Totally offtopic and a noob question but... How do you make these animations?
Excellent review. I m extremely impressed by your animations.... Where did you learn to do that?....it's a serious question btw.
7:51 How would you determine that the Cal students remembered more Algebra if the received worse grades?
You a Good listener and have a fair question .
In my opinion, this was either after exams or any test to determine on how they perform in Algebre. The idea of long term and short term is applied here.

Did you know that Pac-Man wasnt always going to be called Pac-Man? The original Japanese version of the game was called "Pakkuman." This name came from the Japanese folk hero "Paku," who was well known for having a large appetite. The name also comes from the slang phrase paku-paku taberu, in which "paku-paku" is an onomatopoeia for the sound of a mouth opening and shutting quickly. The reason for the name change was because it was believed that when they imported the game to the United States that vandals would be likely to change the 'P' to an 'F,' forming a common expletive. Eventually they decided to use the American version's name, "Pac-Man", for the rest of the world. Wait...what was this thread about again?

Dude you are good at delivering summary of any book and have a good voice. You know how to keep people hooked on for the whole video, why don't you approach those authors and make these kinda of videos on every chapter of their book? This could be like a better version of audio books... make a website on which you watch any book in this form and split the revenue with them...
This whole video can be summed up with the word "implementation."
Inspiring
good job man
Thanks a lot!
How does one graduate from architecture school without knowing what software architects use ?
If you are not already supremely knowledgeable about the subject, you cannot make a metalearning map because you don't know. That's the whole point. If you knew what you needed to learn, you'd already know what those things are.
Awesome !!

Basically, do more intense hours. Ie spend 20 hours a week learning instead of 3. That’s not ultralearning to me. Real ultralearning is learning something that takes 20 hours in 3.
