Hi! Thanks for your tuto (^_^) I've a question... I try to use cloth modifier to manga hair and set the body as a collision object. I set up a root group to keep the hair on the head and I simulate. .. problem : the hair goes through the body! Why? Edit : I tried to change unit in the cloth modifier, but you must change it in customize/unit setup/system! I apply the good mesure and it goes LESS throught the model. I try also the subsample to 7 but no change...
Yes I comment a little too fast... for now I wait for the unit modification (3ds max crash 3 times by change it...) and I will try the subsample. I tell you if it works (^_^)
allinone I'd recommend using real world values. The Imperial or metric system will do fine. (CM or inches, etc.) So if you are creating a table cloth. Use a real table measurements as a reference.
I would not agree with that statement. You need to understand how the physics behind it works. Every value correlates with other values defining the setup based on your mesh. Scaling the object to real life units is the best approach.
@@EliasWick scaling the object to the real world is the begining of the begining... Using the same values in mcloth or in Marvelous works great and fast and not this buggy.
@@albertoluque.workout Comparing the cloth modifier to something like Marvelous designer is a bold thing to do. The modifier isn't there to battle against applications created for the sole purpose of what the cloth modifier is alleviating. There are some videos going into further detail on optimization and error handling.
@@EliasWick will be great to see a video with cloth modifier that just works directly. Can you please share those videos talkin about errors and optimization? :) Thanks!

If you watch the entire video I actually go through that. Rewatch it again. I wish I could be more direct but I not close to 3DS Max at the moment.

@@EliasWick is it normal that my max crash when I change unit from cloth? My setup is nearly new...
@@toraryugraphiperso3411 what version of max are you using?
I use 2017 @@EliasWick
this video is informative. thanks. what should be proper system unit scale for cloth simulation??

ok. thanks :)
thank u so much for sharing with us =)
what gpu were u using?? it seams massive! :D
Claudio Cammarota Happy it was to good use! The GPU was an Nvidia 760 GTX. I have since moved up to an Nvidia 1080 GTX.
i followed this tutorial and still my cloth is fckn very stiff!
Changing the object scale, should help you when simulating. So make sure the cloth is setup in conjunction to the units scale.
Most buggy modifier i ever seen...just randomly, works or not...
