Amazing to see everything! I love that you can actually see the steam shoot out of the stack with every "chuff" of the compressor, and that it's separate from the idle smoke from the fire! So many little details, I can't wait to see what is next!

But what I have seen of this game and of Hyce's content makes not care that I don't care. The sheer amount of love for every bit of everything here makes it a joy to see. I'm not a train nut and Century of Steam is my single most anticipated game. Keep on doing what you are doing!
Hi, Mark. It's my first time to your channel. I must say you sound awfully like this fella from the Colorado railroad museum. That does a RUclips channel under the name of Hyce. I think you and Hyce would make a great train show. (Don't worry your secret is safe with me. 😂) It through me off hearing Mark when I knew of your other channel. Keep up the great work bud. 😊
Totally insane and amazing amount of customization on this loco! Well done to all the guys who are creating this simulator. I am creating my own train simulator as a hobby project based on a 5 inch gauge model engineers railway and I know just how much work goes into making a simulator. The problem is when to decide that it is ready for publication. One could go on forever adding more and more detail. Can't wait to try this sim out one day!
I REALLY like the idea of a higher status/level/number of achievements allowing for antlers with more points. I'm 100% all for that. Legitimately seems this is the only contender for "Top Dog Sim" for Railroader, which I am equally excited for next month.
This game just gets better and better with every single video you guys post. I can not wait until this game is released. By the way, will these options cost extra in-game money on top of the original purchase of the locomotive? I would think that makes the most sense when it comes to implementation
Hey Mark and Dan. Aren’t markers called classification lights if they’re on the front of a locomotive? I looked in a 1910 Pennsy rule book and they only call them markers if they’re red/green and facing away from the direction of travel. Not to nitpick, but since you guys are going so detailed I thought I’d question. Ya’ll are absolutely insane for the amount of research and level of detail you are putting into this game. I can’t wait. Dare I say this will be a revolutionary interpretive experience about railroads in this period as well as a fun game. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this so authentic - the passion is evident, and the tiny and authentic details are what already set this apart from anything else. I would love to see a video on the Baldwin paint styles, and if there are any non-Baldwin locos represented, how research went into their paint styles. Cheers from the east coast!
When you eventually add shays and or Willamettes I know I will fall in love with one locomotive and just drag it through dozens of modernizations way too late into the game lol
I remember Daniel (Trainboi1) from Trainz, we both did stuff at Trainz Forge. I never did much modeling but I did some model reskinning that ended up there. Haven't had much time for simulators in a long time but have a blast watching y'all's videos!
Here in the State of Wisconsin we had a 3ft railway. Owned by the C&NW called the Dinky line which ran from Fennimore in the south west portion of the state.
I hope y'all do get them different knuckle couplers in when they're good and ready, it's only gonna skyrocket the number of customizations until we're dealing with stuff that's gotta use the letter E in a calculator.
Another Century of steam video... And love that customization of these locomotives. And also can you do another video of Different types of locomotives of this new game
this is going to be the sexyist steam loco sim to ever grace our eyes, i can't wait to see what this game becomes. massive thanks to all members at studio 346 and to Mark / Hyce, your all super stars thank you.
Just drool inducing😂. Had to watch it twice, the first time I was just so distracted by the sound and the interplay of the exhaust and the breeze. It is so lifelike it is scary. Train swimming has come so far from Flying Scotsman in MSTS 20 years ago. I just hope I can eventually decide on loco mods before I run out of life 😂. So looking forward to this one...
This is awesome! I’ve always wanted a game where I can play as the engineer who designs the locomotive. Like Automation, Sproket or Flyout, but for trains. I understand this isn’t that, but it’s probably the closest to it. Maybe that would make for a cool future project for your game development company
Rewatching this vid and seeing all the DSP&P equipment on just a single locomotive makes me hopeful that eventually when the game's more feature-complete we'll see more DSP&P locos and rolling stock, obviously the game needs to be in a more complete state for that to happen, of course, though the variety with just one locomotive shown here is immensely exciting to watch.
Great job guys. A couple of questions: I guess some things like changing the brakes and fuel actually changes the gameplay, but does changing stack make any difference other than cosmetic? Does different headlights perform better in the dark? Do the snifters chnge how you have to operate?
I don't know if it would be possible but it would be really nice if the options for what was on the tender could remain separate from the main loco as mixing tenders and cabs could make for even more custom prototypes.
.........You do not know what you have unleashed. If I get my hands on this game, AND I WILL, I will customize EVERYThING about EVERY ENGINE IN ThE GAME....Even if I have two of the same engine they will look nothing alike...you have awoken a sleeping, customization freak, MONSTER.....I'm gonna love this so much.
I would love to have the ability to do stupid but easy to implement things, like having both styles of marker light mounts at the same time, or mix and matching your air tanks and your airbrake pump between two different styles. Also, replacing the tender entirely with a completely different style, because I know that's a thing that happened to at least some engines, though I don't know if it happened to these specific engines. Also, the ability to have fictional accessory combinations, like using a stack style with a locomotive where no real life example had that stack, would be a lot of fun.
idk if this is a far fetched idea. but it would be cool if a couple of the locos were super customizable and were able to be turned into like a tank engine. like the 2-8-0 in the video turn it into a 0-8-0 tank engine with a deck on the back for some fuel or a coal bunker or oil tank on the fireman's side. :D Cant wait to see your track building and some of the physics at play in this game! like if the 0-4-0s are going to do the dance as they go down the track. or what kind of traction/braking system with the sand and weather you guys might implement. maybe in a few months it would be cool to see a train list of what might get added to the game. I loved watching the video for the old RRO tech tree video just for listening to all the stories and opinions about each one. Super excited for the games progress! Good Job Studio 346!!! :D
We used 3'6" narrow gauge here in Newfoundland IIRC. I'm sure with that many combinations I could make one of our 2-8-0s (if I can find data on them). I might still have to mod the Newfoundland Railway logos into the game though, hahah.
One thing I have wanted in a railroad game is to be able to custom order locomotives from the manufacturer. Because that's what railroads did. For example, as soon as the tech is available in a game, I will order my new locomotives with brick arches, and have my existing locomotives refitted when I can afford to.
