@@the3miles One of the requirements to receive the rank of Master was that the Knight in Question had to successfully train a padawan to the point that they could pass the trials. so both Knights and Masters tended to take and train Padawans. It infuriates me just how awful an actress Amandla Steinberg is. She can't emote to save her life. She can't even clench her hand in such a way to show she's using the Force to Force choke her former master. I'm convinced the only way they could show how pissed Osha was at Sol for lying to her all those years/killing her mother was to show the crystal of the lightsaber she was holding turn red as she Force choked him. Bleeding the crystal is a canon thing - but it's more intense than what you saw. Darth Vader had to physically hold the crystal to channel the dark force energy into it and it looked to be a strenuous thing. But Osha is apparently so uber strong in the dark side that she could just hold the lightsaber hilt in her hand and the crystal changes on its own without her having to break a sweat.
I’m curious but can you bleed the crystal of another Jedi? Cause wasn’t that Sol’s lightsaber osha picked up? Unless Sol was using oshas lightsaber isn’t the kyber crystal connected to the Jedi using it? That’s why Vader bled his crystal right?

I have to set the record straight: the Star Wars universe has cameras, portable long-range communications, and portable computers/tablets (called datapads). They have had these technologies since the Old Republic era, which is still cannon and was set literally thousands of years before the Acolyte takes place. The writers are just dumb and didn't think of their characters using them. The real problem with Star Wars' technology is actually how stagnant it is.
Didn’t Osha have permission to go with the Jedi? So how can Mae blame the Jedi for showing up? Do they think we’re stupid? Or have no long term memory? They do??! Well damn.
It gets better. She disabled the door and set the fire BEFORE anyone knew the Jedi were breaking in. If the Jedi hadn't shown up, the fire still would have destroyed their home and killed most if not all of them...

Alteori remember, this show was written by a woman who somehow spent approximately five years working for Harvey Weinstein, including setting up his meetings and appointments, and never saw anything. She was, somehow, miraculously, completely unaware of the entire operation. To say that she's possibly got issues with law enforcement, guilt and blame assessment is, I would argue, an understatement. On top of that, I want to know why she and her sister are estranged (given her own words that her troubled relationship with her sibling is a big part of the inspiration for this "story")? Because given what we've seen in this show and everything that's come out about Leslye. I would be willing to wager the reason they're estranged is probably Leslye's fault. Also, why was she able to "cold call" about a show and get it greenlit? You can't cold call and get a job at a fast food place, much less get approval for a television show with the budget of a major motion picture. All of this seems awfully fishy to me.
The show supposed to carry this message: *"Good is evil and evil is good"* That was clear from the beginning of the show and the end confirmed it greatly. The show is not about entertaining the viewers or give them some positive stimulation, but just to transport the believes and thoughts of the creators -- because that is what is important, not the needs or wishes of the customers. They also do not care about Star Wars, that is just the hollow shell they use to package their own stuff.
that's been the theme the last couple of years Good is evil and evil is good. George Orwell level stuff right there. Robyn Hood. The thieves stealing for themselves and harming the community was good. The guy who wanted to re-poses the land the government took from his father. Giving compensation and housing to all the residents is bad. Hazbin Hotels: Demons are good, Heaven is bad. Acolyte: Sith are good. Jedi are bad
Of course, the story was so nonsensical that it really fails to sell it. They desperately try to convince us that the Jedi were at fault and deserved to die, but all it does is make me wonder what drugs the writers were on because everything the Jedi did seems to be justified self defense.
@@EyeOfMagnus4E201 You are right, the writing is real bad. I am not completely sure though, if they just fail to deliver their own message or if it is partially intentionally -- because when you want to sell people, that everything they believed in is wrong, you can't do it at once -- you can not tell them that black is white directly. You need to "accustom" them to this. So you start to paint everything in grey first -- and when everybody has adapted grey, you can sell them black. And that is something you also see in this show: "A matter of perspectives" or just say it is "semantics", like the sith does. Thus what the witches have done is grey, but also the doing of the Jedi is grey. And because of their "false" believes, the Jedi have to die, while the sith do not need to die, because they already acknowledge that it is grey and so they can just do things, for what the Jedi have to die.
@@EyeOfMagnus4E201 The Jedi's actions were so mild, they had to be covered up twice. I seriously believe this show was written by AI, it has events with ludicrous reasoning behind them, like a machine wrote it.

Wait a sec... why does Mae want Sol to tell her that he killed her mom? Wasn't she standing RIGHT THERE when he did it? Her mom was about to dust Mae too. This seems really dumb. Even if it was bait to get him to say it so Osha could hear it, he should have been like, "you were there, you saw what she was about to do."
23:28 The dude is Darth Plagueis, and he was mentioned in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. He is suppose to be a extremly powerful sith, and even trained Darth Sidious, aka Palpatine, and taugh him how to create life. And accourding to some comics, Palpatine took what he learned from Plagueis to create Anakin by accident (Palpatine was trying to create a child of the Dark Side, but the force didn't like it and instead made a natural child in a random women which turned out to be Anakin. That is why Anakin is the choice one and would be the one to bring balance to the force.) so the jedis hearing about this in the Phantom Menace was more of denial as it has never been heard about before. But now we see that the Jedi both knew about it, and covered it up, which makes the whole prequel questionable. Before, the prequel showed us that the jedis had become too secure with the peace in the universe and wasn't excepting the sith to ever return, so when we see how a sith could get right under them and plot made more sense. But with the Acolyte we can see that the jedi hasn't been in peace for 1000 years, and know about the sith being in the shadows. The covering up makes no sense when jedis are suppose to be able to tell when someone is lying, or at least a master like Yodo would be able to see that something doesn't make sense. So they either nerfed Yodo and made him an idiot, or they just straight out made him evil. One or the other... Star Wars: Darth Plagueis is a book beloved by Star Wars fans and tells the story of Plagueis, which doesn't mentioned anything about what takes place in the Acolyte. But because the book is not canon, even when it's a extremely beloved book, they can just ignore it.
I'm like 90% sure that if George Lucas was still in charge, he would make Star Wars: Darth Plagueis canon as he did make fan books and comics canon if he thought it fit the story he was telling.
Great info, thank you! I saw someone who said that Yoda didn't know that Palpatine was evil and he was right under their noses and around him often, so since Yoda couldn't tell Palp was lying and bad, he wouldn't be able to tell Venestra was lying too. I was thinking that Palp had decades of training to learn to hide his emotions and be more 'neutral' around the jedi and Yoda, as to not raise alarm. He was a master manipulator. I doubt Venestra was able to lie that smoothly considering how little her pinning everything on Sol made sense. He was at the temple when the first two Jedi were killed, so how does that make sense still, to blame him. It's SO bad and is basically like a first draft made into a show with no one @ Disney SW questioning the characters' motives, actions, etc. 😂
@@OsloTime Yes, though Yodo could feel a disturbance in the force, he couldn't pinpoint out what it was. He probably guessed that it could have been Anakin, and that is why Anakin couldn't be on the council but they wouldn't grand him the rank of Master, just to be able to observe him more. But they probably didn't guess that someone like the senator would be what they were looking for, so he could manipulate Anakin and turn him to the dark side. A lot of the plot in the prequel is in-between the lines. And though they expand on some of it in the Clone Wars series, most of it are not seen in the movies.

Hey Osha remember when you said you weren't easily corruptible? No? Well good because neither do the writers? WTF is with the characters just flipping on a dime? She only a little angry at Qimir killing her friends in front of her and let him live but Sol killing the mother in self defence is what tips her over the edge? I mean none of us know wtf she was doing and neither do the writers. I think anyone would kill a woman turning into a smoke demon, that's just logical. Oh yes allow me to allow this demon to possibly turn this child into dust, I mean I might be mistaken and she's doing some other spell. When Osha thought Mea was responsible, she let her live multiple times but now that it's Sol, it's somehow different. She also told the Jedi to try and bring her in. HELL SHE WAS GOING TO LEAVE IN EP5? or 4. My brain is melting in the stupid. She was going to allow the Jedi to deal with it on their own. So she pissing didn't care that much about her mothers death until suddenly that's a huge plot point and character motivation. Also when did Osha learn Kung Fu? Does the dark side unlock a new tech tree like a RPG?
This show is just the creators fan fiction they didn’t care to keep track of. They just fulfilled whatever Star Wars fantasy they wanted to happen and left it at that. She has openly said she favors the dark side so made a story where her character just becomes one because trauma because she thought it would look cool. Absolutely abysmal writing that Disney should be ashamed to be associated with.
How could Sol kill Trinity when not only did they have an eye wittiness say what the killer looked like (black girl), but he was on Coruscant training students?
There's also the Jedi from the temple in the second episode who know he didn't kill master 46 year old teenager, since Sol was with them when it happened. This is pretty much the flimsiest conspiracy since 81 million votes at 4am.

Fun fact red crystals are not typically naturally occurring, there are only 3 ways to get one. Number 1 do what osha did and bleed the crystal, that means fill it with powerful and volatile emotions, usually rage pain and sorrow. Number 2 loot one off of someone else, usually a dead sith. And number 3 get the only naturally occurring red crystal type from deep inside of the lava of a very volcanic planet. Extra fun fact the sith were in hiding at this point in the star wars time-line, so they had to live by a rule called the rule of two. Basically there was only supposed to be two official sith at any given time, because they were too power hungry and blood thirsty to get anything done if there were more than two of them, so any new darkside users who joined were referred to with different job clauses. Things like dark jedi, sith assassin(s), and acolyte(s). If one of the official sith died then that gave the unofficial sith a chance to get promoted to being an official sith, but it was always an uphill battle to make that happen.
Originally the reason they were red is because the Sith manufactured them, instead of harvesting them like the Jedi do. It was much less pathetic explanation.
This bleeding method they came up with is supposed to be very difficult. Darth Vader failed at first. He had a lot of rage and hate to pour into it. Osha does it in a few seconds with no effort, just because she had some bad past experience. Less anger than Mae though. It's total crap. Total lack of character they use to do things that they think will look cool. 🤢
@Dazgul yes she did do it way too fast and easy, but to be fair ( and the only point that I will give out of pity ). This lady never made a star wars property before, so she wasn't able to pace the bleeding properly.

Okay, so the "Big-guy, Little-guy" saber-fighting style actually has historical backing. There used to be a pretty prevalent dueling style which would use a rapier and a dagger in your off-hand: the purpose of the small weapon is to deflect your opponent's, because the smaller weapon is more nimble, allowing you to interpose it more easily at close range. The longer weapon is meant to be your attacking weapon. It was a very effective style in the 17-1800s. The portrayal on-screen isn't entirely accurate, but it has some ground to stand on.
@@JosephKelly-uj1zo I disagree on both points, but I can't really argue whether or not something looks cool. For me, knowing that it was a really popular martial technique made me find it cool. Also, I've found that dual-blade sabers often come out looking bad in live action. It's much harder for the actors or actresses to learn. That's why Ahsoka's best fights happened when she only drew one sword.
The smaller lightsaber isn't that outside of cannon. You know that saber staff that Darth Mall used (the double ended light sabers), it isn't uncommon for them to be split up into two full sized light sabers and linked back together into a staff again. And the small sabers are fairly common for people duel wheedling, and actually a similar thing with IRL sword duelists, usually using the smaller one more defensively. IIRC having one blade shorter helps them not get in the way of each other or something.
This show is the poster child of why you need to respect lore ane canon, especially in the same story. Motives, powers, and rules are constantly changing and ruins most watchers' immersion, even genuine fans.

In the scripts... ugh... defense being a Sith don't mean you can't care for another person. The main issue is that the show don't exactly establish why he even should care as much as he does.
@@magnuscarlsson9969 Honest question - Is that a Disney thing? In the original Stars, the Sith use people as a tool, in order to achieve their own aims, and always, always with the fact that sooner or later their apprentice is going to try and kill them... e.g. Palpatine only PRETENDED to care about Anakin. But, in the Acodyke, by the end of the 8th episode, Smylo Ren becomes this soft guy who cares about what is happening to Osha, and, worse yet, she is the one leading him! (Because, of course, strong female character agenda). Not to mention the gazillion problems of this show's writing - they don't even know how to establish the hierarchy of power level between the characters... As they introduce Smylo Ren, he sends a dozen Jedis flying by Force pushing them with a MERE flick of his finger, then proceeds to wipe the floor with all of them, including Soul/Saul (Korean Soy Man), without breaking a sweat - thus, establishing that he is BY FAR more powerful than all of them COMBINED...but then, a 12-year-old girl padawan who was practicing with sticks virtually beats him (Why? Strong female character agenda). Oh, man! I don't care if there are Jedi women, women in power, if they are black, blue, green - JUST MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! Like for example, now the galaxy being multi-sexual, most men being these little fragile soy boys who are cry babies, lesbians being everywhere, there being almost no white people... Alright, but, start the first episode with "In a galaxy far away, 100 years before the days of Luke Skywalker, the universe was very similar to a university campus in California, where LGBTQ ideology and race diversity was imposed and thus omnipresent...", than, what we are watching would make sense. Picture you're watching the three movies of The Godfather - a mafia family, all of them italian immigrants or descendants of; a patriarchal structure... Then, someone comes out with The Godfather 4, and they are all gay and lesbian, the mafia family members are black, asian, latino - there is only an italian guy kind of in the background...and the women are the ones bossing everybody around because, somehow, now all the men act like retards. WOULD THAT MAKE ANY SENSE? Wouldn't you ask yourself, "When did this happen? What caused things the way they were to be the way they are?" So, basically, (with a lot of words, hahaha), that is what I am trying to say. Disney wants to make Star Wars a reflection of Woke ideology, "alright" - but make it make sense, otherwise, it becomes ideological propaganda, subconscious indoctrination, and not a STORY. (If you've stuck with the text this far, I apologize for my rant! ;)
@@hithere_1967 Well the "love thing", i dunno what else to describe it as, is of course meant as some sort of commentary for sure. When it come to love both Sith and Jedi tend to avoid the concept, Jedi fear that it will lead them down a dark path just like the Sith fear it will affect them in a "negative way", It's not that they can't love someone they just tend to see it as a weakness to be exploited. It's the same when it comes to trust, loyalty and kinship. However i see no reason why a dark side user wouldn't be able to feel something for another person. Darth Malgus did indeed love Eleena Daru, however he choose to keep his relationship with her a secret, which makes sense since love is a weakness. Eventually that relationship did meet it's ultimate end by Malgus's own hands. He wanted to cleanse the whole empire of what he considered, corruption, which made him reevaluate each and every potential weakness. Eleena ended up being one of them, love might be a intense emotion, but since it ain't a negative emotion it's not enhanced by the dark side in the same way as revenge/hatred. Just look at Anakin, he really loved Padme but his desire to save her twisted that love into an obsession, which is a negative emotion and it eventually consumed him making him fully committed to the dark side. He later on in life managed to develop emotions for his son Luke, which means the ability to love is still there just extremely suppressed.
"I saw Mae killing Sol". No it was you. So the show is saying even she couldn't tell her Sister apart from Herself. It was you Honey Bun. Seriously this show can fuck off. Lol smh
You would probably really enjoy Clone Wars. Unlike the Acolyte, there are AMAZING fight scenes, the show invokes actual emotional investment, the characters aren't annoying (at least in the later season's they're not), the show has great voice actors, and it's easy to understand most of the plot by itself, (but of course it does help to watch the prequel trilogy), the show explains a lot about the star wars universe, and the characters undergo actual change. As someone who grew up watching and continues to watch, Star Wars The Clone Wars, it makes me sad that Disney doesn't seem to have any respect for the original Lucasfilm produced Star Wars material.
As someone who watched, played, and read a fair bit of the old Star Wars IP, don't blame yourself over things not making sense. The bar of quality plummeted after Disney bought it, the confusion you're experiencing is because the writers can't be bothered to think these details through. There's an interview out there somewhere where someone in charge of one of the new SW products brags about bringing in writers with no experiences with SW to "bring in new ideas."
Well i don't mind bringing in someone uninitiated since that is indeed a good way to find new inspiration... What's required on the other hand is someone who can take those new ideas and incorporate it within a already established universe in a way which makes sense... not just slam them in there and hope it works out. I mean some food combinations do not make sense to some people... like pancakes filled with shrimp, which is a wonderful combination if done right with the correct seasoning etc. Just slamming unprepared shrimp into a pancake however 🤢
You should look into Star Wars Legends lore (the old canon before Disney). I think you would personally love it! It has so many different eras with unique plots, well written characters, and stories. If you see this comment, I definitely recommend looking into The Old Republic era lore and characters. You will NOT be disappointed!
This is quite possibly the worst cover up in the history of cover-ups It's not just the Brendock 4 for who are dead, there are also 4 redshirt knights, Yord and Jekko, but most importantly 20 Republic citizens from the bar. And someone who isn't dead, is someone who has already come forward to the authorities identifying the killer: the barkeeper Everyone by this point would know that green lady is lying
*Senator is worried about Jedi going rogue… *Green Jedi’s solution? Explain the rogue Jedi (Sol) is dead so we’re all good! Audience: So let me get this straight… the writer’s solution to avoid the Senate’s scrutiny is for Green Jedi to admit the EXACT thing the senate was worried about would transpire… BUT “it is all OK” because the Jedi is dead… when in real life would that mean LESS scrutiny after that response? 🤦♂️
I'm sure Lee Jung-jai is well and truly soured on Hollywood now... Poor guy. Also, yes, this is a show about sociopaths, because the showrunner is a certified sociopath who has thus far gotten away with several crimes relating to her past employment... But we're not supposed to ask any questions about that, right?
3:12 Ive gotten in this argument with people before. They have video. It looks like a hologram. people argue with me, they have never used that before. but even in this show, they were watching a video of May fighting Sol in episode two. "Help me Obi wan, you're my only hope", is a holo video.
In Revenge of the Sith, Obi Wan and Yoda watch video footage of Anakin slaughtering his way through the temple and being confirmed as Darth Vader. Definitely holo recording is a thing in SW.
Like, Jedi are always portrayed as the Good Guys. But, Good guys are not without flaws. Most Jedi try to be Paragons of Virtue, not letting emotions control them. This is why being a Jedi is such a hard thing, You cant show Emotions, Passion.... Again, Jedi are Good, but they have Flaws. Theres a Reason the Sith code is: "Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory."
The ranks of Jedi are youngling, padawan (think squire or apprentice), knight, and master. Plus some other things that are more just specific jobs and not mutually exclusive with those jobs.
Thank you for making these entertaining review videos. I recently discovered your channel because of the Acolyte content being created. I am glad people like you are still being introduced to older shows and give them a chance. It is a shame that the outdated effects can be a hurdle for some to watch them. Personally I think that a lot of modern movies and shows look almost too clean (if that makes any sense) and often lack substance. I guess that if it just looks pretty enough, the story does not matter to a lot of viewers. Hope you will get to enjoy the next thing you review!

I was almost impressed with the Smilo-ren and Sol fight. There are several sword fighting disciplines that utilize a smaller sword or dagger to take advantage of the moments when the opponent blocks or otherwise binds blades with you. But Smilo keeps swinging them together and ditching his second blade advantage. Primarily the smaller blade is often used to block at the same time as the user would also strike with their larger blade. He should be leading with the point of his larger saber to force Soul to lock blades with him and then attack him with the smaller blade... or use the smaller blade to block his offside while attacking the open side Sol would have to sacrifice in order to make a strike. Sol in return would need to utilize distance and try to create an opening where defense is not an option for Smilo. Basically also leading with the point of his saber to put Smilo on the defensive. He cannot allow the deflection or the binding of his saber in that kind of fight otherwise he would lose very swiftly. The only time they had Smilo use that second blade in a way that makes sense was in the first fight it was revealed... "Surprise!" followed by 3 burning holes in the Padawan's chest.
Wait, lightsaber color doesn’t have anything to do with alignment. At least, they don’t change to fit. They get built with a color, and are given out to represent rank.
So, it's now canon that your lightsaber turns red as soon as you turn evil/sith, meaning when Anakin was murdering younglings and his lightsaber was still blue... Still good. Force choking his wife... Still good. The entire fight with Obi... Still good. Disney: Evil is the new Good.

I am somehow far more intrigued in the backstory of the random anime Jedi cat person in this video than I am in the entire cast of characters in the Acolyte series. @@the3miles One of the requirements to receive the rank of Master was that the Knight in Question had to successfully train a padawan to the point that they could pass the trials. so both Knights and Masters tended to take and train Padawans. that's been the theme the last couple of years Good is evil and evil is good.
The show creator is evil, she apparently led young girls to her boss to be abused etc
The damn Basil, otter, THING, is the most annoying thing Disney Star Wars has EVER produced. My jaw literally dropped open when he sabotaged Sol's ship. Randomly. Like EVERYTHING HE DOES!!!!!! Nothing makes sense. And somehow, somehow, fans of this show get outraged when this insanity is criticised. It's just… wow.
Oh Jar-Jar, Mayhaps we have treated you too harshly......
he's a representation of an autistic child that does stuff randomly with no reason nor consequence. i mean sorry to say it but ive seen that kind of behaviour in low functioning autistic children. a type of spontaneous destructive behaviour that makes no sense.
Bazil was an alien species dreamt up in an EU novel. Yet another reason I can't stand EU trash.
Even the Jar-Jar never betrayed the good guys.
Wasn't Anakin made by the force in retaliation to Palpatine and Plaguis blasphemous attempts of manipulation of the force?
@@UnifiedEntity Yes, that is a probably a better way of saying this "Palpatine was trying to create a child of the Dark Side, but the force didn't like it and instead made a natural child in a random women which turned out to be Anakin. That is why Anakin is the choice one and would be the one to bring balance to the force." (and meant neutral child instead of natural child)
Mixed girl

@axiss5840 that is true, but then Disney changed it.
@Dazgul yes she did do it way too fast and easy, but to be fair ( and the only point that I will give out of pity ). This lady never made a star wars property before, so she wasn't able to pace the bleeding properly.

Star Wars is a franchise that people have loved and adored for far longer than I've been alive. It would have been so easy to find talented and passionate fans of the franchise to take on new film/show concepts, but instead we get narcissistic talentless hacks who really don't give a damn about the source material. On the bright side, I've saved a lot of money since Disney took over Star Wars and doesn't provide any products worth buying.
And we get hours upon hours of hilarious reviews. So there's that.
The portrayal on-screen isn't entirely accurate, but it has some ground to stand on.
however i thnk they got inspired from the game and not the source material.
It looks stupid in light saber form though.
Right, but that's a steel blade like in the Northman and with a light saber makes no sense to not have a full blade. Just looks silly too.
Darth Basil's betrayal cuts deep.

Sooooooo, Green Bald Jedi appears to be bringing Yoda into this clusterfuck? Shure….why not, he was the only thing left unsoiled in the Star Wars universe….this puts a perfect finish onto this arc. They had to destroy the hero’s, because there are no such thing as hero’s anymore. 😭
Now Smylo Ren cares about Osha? What???? Now he is all caring and good…. Whaaaaaat????
What caused things the way they were to be the way they are?"
So, basically, (with a lot of words, hahaha), that is what I am trying to say.
My headcanon is that Smilo Ren is a force projection from Darth Plaguis so he can get a piece of dat ass.

Still good.

I am somehow far more intrigued in the backstory of the random anime Jedi cat person in this video than I am in the entire cast of characters in the Acolyte series. I feel like I could just watch the animation loop of her waving lightsabers for the duration of this series and feel like it was time better spent.
