So I decided to build a 1960's British home. We build it in the world of Newcrest on a 20x15 lot and go for an updated but still with a slightly kitschy aesthetic! ENJOY!

This house is gorgeous! As an American I agree the gallery is way too saturated in American builds
And the sims is basically an American game simulator :( I wish we had diversity in culture instead of just skin tones (which I appreciate but it should be a norm)
Well, there is so much more architectural variety in the US than what gets represented on the Gallery. Its a shame it's so limited a representation.

You should do more of these British houses or flats. They are so cute and you make them look so realistic for the SimS. Please, make more contemporary/lower class builds to represent people.

What I like about your videos and what inspire me is that you don't complain about how some of the furniture are ugly or doesn't fit. Objects have their own characteristics, uniqueness, style. You put them together and it gives a feeling more than anything. I find it more positive.🥰
For anyone that struggles with the bins: You can size them down. They are completely functional. Nothing floats. I do it all the time esp. in small kitchens and bathrooms

am i the only one who finds Devon's build videos relaxing? I watch quite a few Sims 4 RUclipsrs and Devon's is up there with Sims4Creations in terms of relaxing builds. With the world going to hell it's nice to sit back, relax and enjoy a good Sims 4 video that someone put all their time, effort and love into to make it a gorgeous home. He's inspired me to get back into playing my own game,so Devon Bumpkin, please keep up the amazing work and i look forward to seeing more of your beautiful builds :)

I really appreciate your ability to make me look at some objects in the game from a completely different perspective. You are a master at integrating stuff that I would never thing would make sense in the decoration. It's just truly impressive. You make everything work. This was an absolute joy to watch. I sincerely think that you are one of the reasons why I still play The Sims.
I love how you show the rest of the world the different styles of British homes. As an American, I always thought everyone just lived in little cottages and bungalows, probably due to the BBC shows I love to watch. This home is so interesting. Thank you for the education, as well as for your talent and charm.

As someone with an olive green kitchen (hello late 70s!) your attention to color and kitschiness is much appreciated in a sea of white suburban builds!
The olive green kitchen is coming back! That's why it's ultimately important (in my opinion) to just get what you like at the end of the day because trends will come and go.
I love how the living room is upstairs because more older houses traditionally have the living room on the first floor

WOW this house has given me so much nostalgia from growing up in a British terraced house exactly like this one, this is so perfect Aiden! I never wanted to leave that house!! Thank you, all my happy childhood memories are coming back from this build! 🥰❤

I love seeing homes from other countries in the sims. You're right that nobody does it much. And if an American simmer tries to, they aren't gonna get it as accurately as someone who actually lived in that type of home.
I love this house! There's a house in this style by the river near where I live, and the owner sells super cute glass sculptures which they display in the window and hang in the tree outside.

I love looking at things and trying to figure out which decade they're from. Norwegian typical 60s houses have some similarities yet very different..! Somewhere we drove by, Im not 100% sure where, it looks like they bulldozed an old mountain castle to build a huge 80s apartment complex, and it looks so weird!

I'm getting tired of American houses as well. Not just the way they look on the outside, but also the layout. You nailed this one. We've got very similar ones in France. I love the vibes too!

I agree with you about the gallery. There are so many modern American builds, which I am not into even though I'm American. The one time I made a modern mid century build it was so popular, but I do prefer European and period builds more. And lately, so many people are putting empty lots on the gallery. Why? What kind of trend is that all about?

Your builds are always so freakishly similar to what we have going on here in the Netherlands. I know people in Belgium people don't have plants in their windows. That is how we know we hit the border with them, which runs right through villages sometimes. Same houses, but no plants in the windows.
And after seeing this video I was wondering whether the British people didn't either, because for me that bay window is screaming for plants ☺

Builds like these makes me miss the TS3 apartment build tools. I loved how you could split a house and turn individual areas into apartments. Then you could've build a row of these and actually have them work as individual apartments.
It's *really* something that TS4 has been missing, especially with the extremely limited apartments in the game. - That and garbage bins in the counters. lol still can't believe they haven't added that after all these years. 🤣😆

I enjoyed this build, but to me the dining room on second floor wasn't what I would have thought, although not British, I would have put the dining room in the kitchen. Added a bar upstairs, IMO. Aden it was a very nice build. Love 💘 ya my friend, hugs to Blue and regards to Tom.
In my area, there are so many of these houses. They typically did have the kitchen on ground level and the living room upstairs. As for the dining, people often had one cramped dining area in the kitchen, plus one better looking dining area in the living space, for entertaining guests.
I just can't imagine trying to carry trays of hot foot and drinks up those stairs which have the gaps and no rail!
Looks good but I'd personally be a disaster.
@@elisabethrichard same here. Maybe because we're not used to having to climb stairs with hot food, and easier to just have a dining room set in the kitchen. I'm sure other countries/customs live like that and seems totally normal. I'd see me having accidents at least twice a month. Or needing a dumb waiter..

I’d love a British world (for the design variety) that introduced a way to build and designate your own apartments. It would be fantastic for designing houses from cultures with more limited space like European cities and Japan (Snowy escape would have really benefitted).
Failing that, I’d love a world with no defined architectural features outside of the lots. Newcrest is great, but the backdrop is all modern skyscrapers or colonials. Although you can ignore it, it is quite limiting for creativity.
