@ron6081 Thanks for the comment! Keep in mind we are referring to our county protocol which the county's medical director writes - it may thus differ from ECC guidelines. Incidentally, although some studies show an association of increased need for mechanical ventilation/risk of death, AHA ECC Guidelines 2010 does not provide guidance on the use of morphine in the setting of acute pulmonary edema, nor has the AHA actually made a formal position removing its use in ACC/AHA joint statements.
Screw these people talking about "what is in your scope" and "CPAP.....ALS skill" I'm an EMT in the East Bay, and I know as well as you know what is in our scope. I said that to say this, GREAT SONG. The ones breaking down lyrics in that way most likely are the ones that walk inside with shades on, and both of them are douchbags. I love the song, we know our scope and lay off of EMTs having a good time and once again, your song is WONDERFUL!!!!!
@freshhh723 Hi there, thanks for the comment. The 25 lpm is actually for our county's required CPAP device. When set to 25 lpm it provides up to 10 cm H20 of pressure. The actual device is called the Boussignac CPAP system if you want to google it.
@ffmhc62 CPAP is an ALS level skill. It is primarily indicated for Adult Acute Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema, along with standard medication therapy (i.e. nitroglycerin, morphine and furosemide...the latter being appropriate only if the patient is already on diuretics.) The only approved CPAP device in the County is the Boussignac CPAP at this time (helps the on scene FF medics restock with the ambulance crews.)
That was so unique I love it! My boyfriend's an EMT and Firefighter in PA - so of course I find it all fascinating :) You guys are really talented!
