I do think it can be changed, but there will never be a new "old 4chan". It could still make OC, and has tried, but something so... "underground", or isolated, simply won't happen twice. But hey, 4chan pretty much defined the internet today, so we got that right?

I would actually attribute some blame to sites like reddit considering they seemingly do nothing but harvest memes and distribute them, resulting in most OC getting flooded with crappy knock offs. So OC production is roughly the same it's just that the ratio of crap to quality has rapidly increased.
There isn't any right or wrong to 4chan, only what is. People trying to decide which memes are good and which memes are bad and what constitutes good 'anon style' trolling are wasting their time.
