As a movie buff what can one say about James Dean and this film...certainly a classic thats appeal will never die. I have always wanted to see the remains and you brought tears to my eyes. James was just amazing...I so miss him and thoughts of what he might have achieved after this. We must remember this was "old Hollywood". Unlike todays studios and the drivel they produce which can never hold a candle to a production like this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
I got choked up seeing you embrace all the awesomeness of this classic movie . It’s one piece of memorabilia that needs to stand right there in that Texas field . That alone brings all those hollywood legends to life again . Beautiful vlog and cheers to Jordan too 🙂
Moved to Texas when I was six. It's a stark, rugged beauty where the open vistas make you believe anything is possible. Now that I live back east with a lot of trees, I get claustrophobic without an expansive sky (although it is very green and lush). Thank you, Dave, for appreciating my old stomping grounds. Thank you, Scott, for taking me back and getting my heart thumping again!
Not my dream; yours, But the artistic end of your video brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. Keep making these videos. Each new one is better than the last. You are showing a steadier, more confident hand. Your talent for narration, your keen eye and poetic presentation make this video heartfelt and masterful. Don't stop. (Credits to Jordan, your mentor.)
Brilliantly done! Tear jerker at the end! America will forever and will be the best country on earth. No more unboxing of goodies and start traveling the country to uncover to create more beautiful videos. Your pal, Jordan, is a good man. You both are great Americans. Best to your new adventures. From a fellow 909er. God bless 🇺🇸
I loved seeing this James Dean vlog where they made the movie Giant. I enjoy seeing everything James Dean. Really cool of the owner to let you on the property.
I had no clue at all Little Reata windmill still existed. In my head I think I assumed some pieces of wood from the windmill might still linger decades later, so was not expecting much. When I seen the actual windmill, I had tears in my eyes. When I seen you touch that amazing piece of James Dean movie history, I lost it. How you put that ending all together is absolutely beautiful. Knowing at one time James Dean was up on that windmill. His spirit is still there. Got me very emotional. Great piece of video. Thank you.
Seeing that windmill was like seeing hallowed ground. Neat to see it’s been held together after all these years and such great memorabilia of such a great actor. Brought tears to my eye as have been a Jimmy fan for years and (under unusual circumstance) actually got to ride in the ‘49 Merc from ‘Rebel.’
Amazing!! Scott is a collector's collector and seems like a true gent,I really liked it when he went to stay at Jordan the Lions new place, what a fascinating house guest! LoVE. the James Dean Autograph how amazing is that!!
Scott, when you superimposed the footage of James Dean onto the spot where you were filming Little Reata's windmill I began crying. Such a great loss of a young actor who was most definitely destined for greater things before tragedy struck. In an interview Rock's ex-wife tells the story of how Rock did not like James and she speculated that Rock was somewhat jealous of James evident acting abilities and Rock knew he would become a great actor. She said after James was killed Rock cried like a baby for a couple of days with guilt and that Rock stated he wished he would of been nicer to James. I sure wish the Town of Marfa would preserve Reata and that windmill as it seems they would be historical landmarks.
Great job Scott! James Dean was a beautiful man, it's true, but he was more then that. He was fascinating and you always want to know more about him even though it seems like everything has already been told. Such charisma.....
This is so amazing. I wish I had a better word. I do want to say I loved seeing James Dean's signature. Beautiful. I have a 25 year old son that uses cursive only to sign a document and a 20 year old that has memorized how to sign his name to a document. Both just write in print when needed, which, nowadays is rare. My oldest can read my cursive. My youngest can't. Looking back, the STARS had fabulous signatures. Think of Marilyn! I wonder how long she practiced it and I'm sure she did. There was so much care, appreciation and attention to detail then.
I love Giant and James Dean. I'm so happy that you got to see the windmill up-close-and-personal. Much thanks to the people who owned the ranch that this sits on period so very kind of them. Scott you did such a wonderful job an this video. You should be proud.
James Dean, Rock Hudson and Elizabeth were at the peak of their physical beauty (my opinion). The movie is also beautiful and an epic in all aspects. George Stevens was a genius. Great Vlog. One of the things that hasn’t changed is the original vastness and emptiness of the Texas landscape. Mercedes McCambridge and the entire cast were wonderful. Thanks Scott and Jordan! Snakes😳 that is all that I would have needed to hear and bye!
Good stuff Scott! My grandmother was born in Marfa, Texas around 1900. I'm an old geezer now. I think I should make a trip down there. Part of 'No Country for Old Men' was filmed there as well.
You did great putting that together Scott, it was a pleasure to see this one for sure. When you showed Rock's roladex I thought to myself had Montgomery Clift had caller ID in 1956, he could've maybe avoided going to that dinner party when that phone number kept calling him.
Oh Scott, that was epic! Loved the sun, perfectly centered in the windmill shot. Like the sun, you really did outshine yourself on this one. The ranch owner is surely happy with the great advertisement he just received. I'm going to watch Giant right now. It is one of my favorite films.
Great vlog. As a native Texan I have loved Giant for years for its good and bad. Marfa is on my bucket list. Will make it one day. The shots of the windmill with that incredible West Texas sky could not have been better if filmed by John Huston himself.
I have loved that movie since I was a little kid. Sal Mineo was also a favorite actor. I have the DVD and will pay attention to the scene when Jett gives his speech as I didn't know that was dubbed. Thank you Scott, always learn something new from you.
The music at the end with the original/now footage combined sends chills in me. Looking at the portrait I did of jimmy with his Porsche years ago with this ending is getting me all misty eyed. Jimmy dean fan till the end.....as all the days.
Oh man, Scott, you have the best taste!! James Dean….. no words!! Rock Hudson was such wonderful man!! I’m an Indiana girl so kinda partial to Jimmy. ❤️
Your visit to the wind will was very inspiring. The way you filmed it, the music you selected and the way in which you touched it shows how much it means to you. Thank you. M. Belinda Davis in NC.
My Best friend growing up owned the bed in Giant. I have no idea if she still owns it. I imagine she probably still does. She was so proud of it and to sleep in it each night. She had to show everyone her famous bed.
Well Done! Thank you Scott. Went to Marfa in 2018, before the character placement. Made sure to book Jimmy’s room. My girlfriend said it was haunted but I slept well. Showered on tiles that Jimmy showered on. Got to tour rock and Liz’s room and took lots of pics. Their rooms were suites and Jimmy just had a room. Great trip.
I WAITED SO LONG FOR YOU TO present this , I collect all dean Items , ever since 1979 , so I can relate your passion for this historic site in Marfa Texas ,, Dont you wish you could have been there to see them film ?? Boy ,I do , just to meet them all and especially Jimmy 😘 there is also a museum there called the kids of Marfa and most locals were in the film 🎥 in certain scenes , and they dedicated the place to all those local kids and ppl , OMG 😲 LITTLE REATA SO DAMN COOL ,,RIP 🙏 😢 JIMMY , LIZ , ROCK , DENNIS, ALL THOSE WHO HAVE GONE 🕊🥀

Oh Scott I've been waiting to see this one. I was so excited for you when I watched Jordan's vlog. OMG a dream come true. I cried when you got to the windmill. And yes the music made it even better. I'm so happy you got to go in and fullfil one of your bucket list. I love your channel and can't wait to see the rest of your trip with Jordan. You guys make a great team. I would love to join your patreon team but I'm a single mother whose disabled and it takes everything I have just to make ends meet. But I never give up and My son and I love watching your videos. And Jordan the Lion. Keep up the good work and much love from Oklahoma. ♥️♥️
Scott, this is AWESOME!!! I've always wanted to make this trip, but heard (back in the 80"s) there was hardly anything left. When you got to the windmill, I had to wipe away a tear! Beautifully done. Dude, you're living my dream and filming it...Then editing it and posting it, too! 🤣 Thank you! P.S. Cool tattoo!
@@DearlyDepartedTours Fantastic video Scott. You’re a lucky man to be able to follow in Jimmy’s footsteps. By the way, as a Dean fan you’ve probably seen the publicity shots of him with a statue of white horses. Any idea where that was/is?
What an amazing story ❤️. Love James Dean♥️. Thank you for sharing your travels 🧡. The background music was perfect 🧡I shed a tear when you made it to the windmill 💙
I am so happy for you that you got to experience this. I can’t imagine how excited you must have been. I hope to be able to do some traveling to some of my favorite movie places where they were made and come across something this cool. I’m just so happy for you!
I love Texas, spent time out there as a kid. More over I love James Dean. Thank you for filming this, because many wouldn't get to see it otherwise. What a beautiful job filming this and what a classic old hotel! Many thanks, Jill Grosx
Beautiful may you never ever stop making these posts just when I think I’ve watched most of them one pop up on RUclips and the giant location filming post was beautiful the Music the hotel and it would’ve been amazing inside to have a look at what the room looks like I know it wouldn’t have been the same as when Jamie lived there for filming, but the stale the walls, the door, the bathroom it would’ve been great
Scott I am only two minutes in and I already have a smile on my face! I know this is going to be amazing to watch thank you so much for sharing Scott you are as always awesome!

Its the coolest thing ever. that he sat on that windmill and its still there. 👌 wow 😢
Those murals are amazing. The house is deceivingly three dimensional and appears much larger than it actually is. Kudos to the artist.
Thank you, Scott. I actually cried seeing that windmill. You actually walked it!!
Actually touched it!!
Not gonna lie - I got pretty choked up too.

West Texas is so beautiful.

I find the piney woods of east Texas more beautiful.
