Also, the Boss Digital Metalizer is perfect for the X series.
      Perhaps the Hi-Band Flanger?

Great upgrade to a rock solid NS-2 that for decades has been a pedal “that just works”. Hidden feature that nobody seems to know or talk about is, if you’re in mute mode.. you can press and hold the pedal and it will switch to gate mode, the left 1/2 of the indicator lights up…then press and hold again and it switches to noise suppressor, the right side of the indicator lights up. Pretty cool little feature BOSS thought of.🤘

Very good demo. I used a Boss Noise Gate for many years, I noticed that Yngwie was using one so I basically did what he did. After a while I found it was negatively affecting my tone, so I went with the ISP Decimator. But this one looks like it is worth further investigation. I also tried a very expensive Zuul pedal, but found that it was actually making noise rather than reducing noise!

Similar Technology to the noise suppression system in the Boss EVH Delay. Making that delay an even more economically priced unit!!

    Excellent tutorial and demo sir..
I've not had the pedal format I don't believe, but I've had it with multi effects.. I always used it by turning it up until it killed the hiss and noise but not cutoff my lead bends, etc..
One reason I love EMG's and active pickups is that they don't have the annoying noise floor.. Plus, you don't have to turn up the gain on your amp so much which also reduces noise.
Great demo brother.. Always good stuff here..
Be well and have a great rest of the week.. I'm off to work.. I was supposed to be off, but the owner has to see the doctor and asked if I would work and I had to say yes.. They are such nice people..
    Take care kind sir..

I’m actually thinking of getting this to pair with an older 80’s Ibanez rack delay that suffers from massive ground hum. I replaced the two prong cord with a grounded three prong power cord but it still suffers from ground noise/hum. I use older racks with my Tascam Model 24 in the effect send/return and feel they would benefit from having this clean up their signal.

  • @JPMonstie

As usual, another excellent, informative video which I will need to rewatch. The whole Boss X series seems like the digital version of the Waza series to me, which means Boss could really pull something out of the hat re modulation, verb, delay or any combo o that. Seems like they now want to expand on the series which is great.
I have the OD-1X (check Jake Cloudchair’s demo) and the CP-1X, both have helped reduce my analog snobbery no end.
Hope you’re doing well Leon…seems like you’ve had a rough couple of years in some respects. 👍

Awesome demonstration, thank you, Leon! I am curious regarding your experience with this in general. If you don't really use many pedals before the amp and the real source of the noise is the high gain amp channel, is it best to have the noise gate in the effects loop? Or does that cause problems?

@@LeonTodd Thank you! I was paying attention to the awesome diagram, but I still got a bit lost with it because I wouldn't expect a two-input two-output approach on a gate. I was a bit shocked because I think of that kind of pedal being for parallel effects instead of a series unit.

Have not tried the NS1X, but I have experience with the Zuul, Rocktron Hush, Boss NS2 and can 100% vouch for the ISP G String Decimator G String II. I was for nearly 7 years or even longer on the quest for the ultimate noise surpressor. What I value is long sustain, super quick attack, natural "sound" (super important when playing stops on thrash metal). I always was shy spending the money on the ISP. Someday I was so frustrated I gave in, and the moment I plugged it in and tried it, I knew may journey was over. PERFECT IN ALL ASPECTS.

There's no meat to the tone, it's like it's being sliced by the volume knob. It's the fractal isn't it? I'd boost that bass man. Also, do you think that fractals compliment the guitar player in an artificial way? Where as traditional valve amps, you're on your own? I think they do ya know!
