"This is a song about a girl who got in a car. When I first wrote this song, I didn't have a family, a wife, kids. When I did, I realized just how fucked up this song is." -- Jessie tonight at The Greek Theatre @ Berkeley 7/29/16
I thought he said how terrible the song is or something like that. I remember being taken off guard because the denotation of the words were that the song was bad, but of course what he meant was that he hadn't understood just how bad what happened until he had a kid of his own. Regardless of what exactly he said, that was one of the best nights of my life and it's cool seeing it quoted.
Agrith He swears sometimes on stage, just not much in interviews or in songs. Like I said, I think at the Berkeley show he said something like "what a terrible song this is" and didn't swear, but you're right he does swear a lot less often than other frontmen do. But for instance there was a guy talking during Luca in a video I watched and he said "shut the f*** up" so it does happen. Just fairly rarely.
Charles Corbett my buddy went to that show and he's from Long island too. He said there's actually video of the crash and when they driver ed they have to see it. You can also see it on RUclips.
never have to buy adjacent plots of earth never have to rot together underneath dirt never have to lose my baby in the crowd i should be laughing right now
Ryndan Riley absolutely love that about their tracks where the lyrics are vague -- e.g. all of Daisy -- and finally something gets released by the band that quotes a lyric -- e.g. in a Jar Chorus, "we have neither plans nor disguises" ect
Having my last daughter in my life and her being 8 yrs old I heard this song and was like this is pretty mellow pretty chill. I started thinking this story sounds familiar so I'm like let me look at the back story and there it was, I started putting all the metaphors together. So I just missed my daughters lil grad party from 2nd grade already bummed about this and I'm listening to this song and just bawling my eyes out. The lyric that hit the most was "I died for your sins but never again"
I would give one of my kidneys to be able to see Brand New live, just one more time. 😟
Glad to see a new comment. Brand new, if one was so bold to say
Same brother
I've seen them so many times but it isn't enough. Come back please.

These people are really playing MSG? Wow, weird. Never heard of them and they sound awful.
Marc Mirrortime 🎣
Maybe listen to the actual recording, also sometimes it's not about the sound but the feelings the lyrics and the context of the song
Where you playing this weekend?
edgy bro
honestly Keep Yourself Safe. Pathetic bitch with awful hair. You look like a disgusting slob.
So much emotion in one song, shame about the out of tune singing from the people in the crowd, brilliant performance though
