My 8 month old kitten would love your “strip rack”! That cat attacks ANYTHING hanging down, whether your using it or not. I actually have scraps of fabric lengths tied around the house to keep him entertained while I’m quilting. Some have ball at the end. It works for a little while. 😂
Regarding the Accuquilt: those strip dies are worth their weight in gold! Every one of them! I’m disabled and cutting fabric plays havoc with my back. If you never get any of the other dies, the system is worth it just for the strip cutters.
Honestly, I didn’t have any real confidence that the BOB’s or other shape cutters would work as advertised. I’m glad to admit I was wrong! This is a wonderful system if cutting fabric is difficult for any reason.
This is my time visiting your channel. I really enjoyed your organizational and scrap tips. I am trying doing the exact same thing with my scraps. It may take me a year to get them all cut though. Organizing them is another matter. 😂
I look forward to watching more videos from you and visiting your website.
    Peace and blessings to you!

Thank you. I hope now a year later you've had time to organize your precut scraps and try some of my Jody's Jem's patterns. The Scrappy Squares 1,2,3,4,&5 use up a lot of precuts quickly and I love the Crazy 4 and 9 Patches. Have a blessed Christmas.

not only does accuquilt make accurate cuts, it saves trips to the ER and long recoveries from rotary cutters. I find myself searching and using patterns that fit the accuquilt dies in order to avoid the months long recuperation of rotary cutter accidents.

I just found your youtube video. I have an accuquilt machine and have never used it! This helps me figure things out.

I love elevating the cutting tabletop in order to store your mats. I'm certainly going to implement your idea in my sewing room.

If you purchase from Accuquilt and create an account you can list all your dies. The ones you buy from them will automatically be added and you can manually add any you buy elsewhere. Just found your channel. Enjoyed your video. I have subscribed to see your other videos.

Very interesting, I have purchased a few dies. I love them. But watching your video helped a lot. I was just trying to keep cost down, but the cutter and dies just make things so easy. Pluse am not always good at cutting, sometimes when hand cutting they don't all come out the same size. So via accuquilt. Your video is so helpful. Can't Wait to see your next quilt pattern.

I make hexagon from circles. A six inch circle will yield a two and a half inch hexagons. I made a quilt that has 483 handmade hexagons. I love making them.

thankyou for a great way to use, cut and also store scraps....after 20 years of quilting you have incentivized me. I have an accuquilt, which I love and you have shown a new use for it. But Im curious.....I bought mine because i had a friend who literally cut her finger off with a rotary cutter. Im over 70, eyesight not so good and bought an accucuilt because of the safety issue.....why does no one mention how safe it is.

As I was cutting the scraps from my last quilt into squares, I was thinking how much easier it would be if I had the right sized square die for my Accuquilt to do it!
    Then, I saw this video!
    Thank you! Great video

Hi, I use an old Alven cutting mat that I cut to the size i need instead of the accuquilt mats that do not last, the Alven mats last longer than the accuquilt matts and even if I bought brand new it still would be cheaper.

For the slanted dies I ran into short pieces because of the grain of the fabric. Do you have a video explaining that?

No clue. My strip rack I bought at a thrift store. I have heard that it's a rack that fits inside a dryer for sweaters maybe. I really don't know. I come up with a lot of random ideas of how to repurpose things I find.

Just keep flipping and turning your mats. They last longer than you think.

    • @JodysJemsQuilting
      @JodysJemsQuilting  11 месяцев назад

They do wear out quickly when you do a lot of cutting. Moving it slightly helps instead of cutting it in the same exact place each time. I like the idea of flipping them. Maybe that helps too.
