Short documentary on Liao opera (鹩剧)

Liao opera (鹩剧) is a rare simple opera form from Guangxi, of which its popularity centers around Xingye County of Yulin City (玉林市兴业县) and its neighbouring 13 towns. Performed in the local Yulin dialect, Liao opera got its name from Liao, a Yulin dialect term referring to small-size birds, a metaphorical comparison to the opera form's music as melodic as the singing of birds.
