And if somewhere in the near future, if Metro-North procedes to get new coach cars that will replace the shore-liners that run on the non-electric territory, the recordings are already there, all they have to do is just program them into the new cars if they have the ASI built in.
One idea is to have double decker cars with cab cars that have third rail contact shoes when running 3rd rail electric mode only that would feature automated announcements, and have battery locomotives that can run in battery mode EV-style in non-electrified portions when they are not running 3rd rail power.
I’m assuming that if at one point Metro-North decides to get new coach cars that will replace the shore-liners in which they run on the non-electric territory in the near future, then probably these new cars will have ASI with these recordings on them.
And I do have some isolated Non electric territory LIRR announcements on my channel though. Unlike metro north, C3 LIRR Trains have the ability to use announcements, although conductors rarely put them on. But because of this I can just record the announcements from the train itself. I just have to get lucky.
@@LIRRFAN426 next time I'm traveling to a far-flung station where there won't be many people around I'll bring my speaker and aux cord and go to town lol is that how you were able to record these announcements?
@@Benasorus well I’m pretty sure you can use a recorder to record from the aux jack. What I did was, I went really far, to tenmile River. And I just had the speaker play at full volume and I just recorded it up close with the mic from my phone.
I got Montauk and oyster bay branches fully down. Im sure I’ll be able to get the port Jefferson branch announcements relatively easily. Although, the asi programs for the ronkonkoma branch to green port are extremely hard to find.
This is actually insane in a good way! Thank you for making this!
Wow! I didn't even know they did the voice recordings for the non-electric stations!

Yeah, that's true.

These can be heard with audio at Metro North ticket machines.
Yes, I believe that is how these were recorded.

I seriously hope so, and those Alstom trains for CT rail coming in 2026 might be those new coach cars that will come at some point in the future.

(Yes I know it’s Waterbury)
Love it
You should do the same with the LIRR. I always wondered what non-electric territory sounded like?
Oh, I’m working on it

@LIRRFAN426 actually we set the asi from the cab
Is there a lirr announcement on the Non electrified portions
This is the train to Poughkeepsie stopping at Ansonia?
It's just a run through of all of the stations on all of the lines.
Can you do the lirr c3
Can you do LIRR and Metro-North announcements ASI alphabetical order (with diesel territory stations)

Thanks!
Where did you get these announcements from?
Look in the description
So they come from the ticket machine, which means I can do it too?
Yes
That’s why they also sound so clear, does it work on the LIRR too?
I haven’t tried it, but I’d assume it works on the LIRR too
Does the machine have the automated announcements on the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines?
Unfortunately no. You can’t buy tickets to those lines on Metro north ticket machines, only NJ Transit ones.
@@LIRRFAN426 oh ok because I was wondering if Van Riteshie recorded those announcements oh those lines by any chance

Where did you find this?
If you go to a metro north ticket machine and press 5 it turns on audio, allowing you to record each station announcement.
Can you still listen to these announcements by plugging headphones into the ticket vending machines? Does it also work on LIRR?
Yes you definitely can if you plug headphones in. And I’ve tried it on the LIRR and it does work.
