My first time riding in traffic on a motorcycle!
Only exp is the msf course, bought this bike a couple days after and finally got to ride it like a week ago.
Have fun watching me going crazy :)

@@GuestNumber-r9l took my MSF course last month and the class was more girls than boys! Still gonna be male dominated for a while but women’s interest in bikes is growing for sure
that's weird, as an instructor the classes are still split 90% - 10%. I think content creator/motovlog percentages might be different
future biker girl here! got my license and just looking for a bike now. it made me so happy when you said you were in band because I was too! :)
@robyncoffey5998 OMG GOOD LUCK ON UR SEARCH!! WOOHOO!
@ THANK YOU!!
@robyncoffey5998look at the CFmoto bikes.
The flashing gear indicator means it is recommending you to shift up. Your RPM bar flashes because your bike is still new and is recommending you to not go any higher than 4000 rpm for the first 500 miles. Check your Owner's Manual, I believe it'll be explained in there! Keep on riding and be safe! 🤘
@@dave6429 thanks for the advice it is much appreciated!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to break my bike in but there are so many opinions online haha
Your doing great 👍🏽
I'm a little surprised the dealer didn't say anything but maybe it was a case of information overload/excitement
It'll still flash at 4k even after the break-in period (2024 Ninja break-in is < 4k first 150 miles, then < 6k until 250 ...check the owners manual for your year, it's changed a LOT from older models)
The 4k flash is configurable tho (or you can just turn it off which I prefer)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, I hope it’s better, it’s taken me three years, and I’m getting there. Go everywhere on the bike, feel it
Tips that I can share to you.
1. Practice 1 finger breaking it will train you for progressive breaking.
2. Learn how to counter steer better. In sportsbikes counter steering is more useful than normal steering.
3. Be confident. Too careful can also lead to disaster sometimes.
4. When you're in doubt on making turns, make sure you do your best too look where you need to go.
5. Practice slow speed manuvers. It can help you make sharp turns and build your confidence on balancing your bike.
Lastly. Since it's your first time, ride defensively. Be accustomed on using your bike first.
Ride safe.
Agreed, would like to add: learn positioning before corners. There are only 3 positions, easy to learn, will make immediate sense. Most countries it is only taught on adv riding, no idea why not on basic riding. Just RUclips motorcycle position.
I think that last point goes for everyone regardless of how much experience they have.
You probably figured this out by now but:
1. if you want to take corners 'less wide', don't accelerate while doing it. It will automatically go wide if you do
2. when coming to a stop, I wouldn't hold the clutch and go from 6 to 1 and then coast with clutch in until I stop. You noticed it was difficult to stop and there is another thing: if you go from 6 to 1 in 1 go while still at speed, if you let go of the clutch by mistake it's pretty bad. Instead I would just engine break and go 1 gear down at a time, releasing the clutch each time; the bike will slowly come to a stop. You can use brakes too, especially so that everyone sees you're slowing down.
3. 31:16 - "I'm blowing past this sht" - never do that again.... never enter an intersection with your throttle wide open just to make a green light. Never do that.
4. 7:38 - you were completely unfazed at 50mph, when approaching the intersection where a car was pulling in; sure, it had stopped and the driver was paying attention, but that's your yellow zone: I would release throttle for some engine breaking, cover my brakes and get ready to avoid a scenario in which the car won't stop; do that everytime and you'll be happy to do have done it one day.. trust no one.
5. I just feel you were going way too fast at times for your skill level
6. don't cut corners like that in intersections...
7. stop at stop signs. But you don't need to stop before the sign, you can go a bit further where you have max visibility
8. use both rear and front brake when coming to a stop and don't pull in the clutch first. FIrst you brake, you pull in the clutch before stopping. Good for practicing emergency stops, where the clutch isn't a priority.
9. when using the clutch release it slowly and smoothly
That one at 4:59 hurt pretty bad too. I am glad she is new and learning but damn, that is scary.
I'm taking my driving lessons next month and thank you for your comment, as it's very useful for new riders!
Good advice.
@@alphanoir.You got this! Stay safe out there and enjoy the ride! If you haven’t gotten a bike yet, give CFmoto a gander.
So ive been riding for about 5 months now, and honestly i forgot where i came from. The struggles from simply turning the bike, or coming to a stop was truly horrifying. Today after 8.5k Km(5300 miles) I feel like i just forgot all the struggles and got really good at it. Watching this just reminded me of the excitement i got and had when first riding and its awesome to see. Be safe when riding, remember your invisible to others.
I'm glad to hear that.. just got a bike and pretty much have had some anxiety.. but did get it out on normal roads just as riding sesson ended.. looking forward to a full season next year.. and hope to look back and laugh at myself too...
@@wmscottd I ended up getting my endorsement in around October last year, so I get the pain of riding season ending just as you start! If you have a bicycle it can be nice to get some winter practice in, since all the skills apply. The anxiety goes down and turns into excitement soon enough, you got this!
Girllll I have watched almost all of your videos and from beginning to current I’m so so proud of you, I take my MSF course on Monday and I’m a nervous wreck because how I started on motorcycles is super not ordinary, I got a bike for my boyfriend to get to work after he wrecked his I’ve only ever been a backpack and I ended up loving the bike myself (I never wanted a bike) and practicing little things in parking lots, curves, stopping, friction zone, basiccs. I’m itching to get on the bike and progress but anxiety is preventing me, Seeing your videos literally gives me so much hope because you fukin just jump right in and handle the new stuff so well. I love it thank you thank you !! You have no idea how inspiring it is to see another female rider be so genuine with her new rider content.
i’m a fellow biker girl too. i’m so happy to start seeing other biker girls, happy riding!!❤
Could you suggest me beginner friendly bike? I want to go off road eventually and also my height is 5'1. 😢
Every single little note you are making for yourself, I am doing the EXACT same thing! Same reminders, same scolding 😂 thanks for sharing! I’m excited to keep learning and it’s fun watching you.
One trick to remember is to memorize the low and high rpm points of each gear and the road speeds associated with them. The reason for this is to help you in a sudden change of speed. You can glance at the speed and automatically and quickly get to the right gear without stalling or locking up the rear wheel. As speed will equal correct gear with less thought processing.
At 49 last year, my first bike was the KLR 650 S. Due to my 30 years experience as a long haul trucker and size 18 shoes made shifting a bike rather awkward. Shifting 8-9-10-13&15 speeds with my right hand over to a 5 speed with my left foot, and big feet at that, motivated me over to the Africa Twin with DCT😂 now it’s like riding a bike as a kid again, all kinds of fun😂 have fun and enjoy the ride! Nice to see more ladies getting into the sport/hobby.
Good Job! It was fun to watch you ride. The RPM bar flashing is a factory setting you're gonna wanna change before long. Like others have said, the dash RPM is flashing to keep RPMs low for break-in; But you're in WAY too high a gear! 2nd or third gear is FINE if you're under 45mph. When you're at a low speed and a high gear, you're 'lugging' the engine and increasing engine wear; Plus you don't have any torque available if your in 5th gear going 30mph. When I'm riding my 500, I only use 5th and 6th gear when I'm on the highway.
spoken like a true prodigy. don't worry about the louder noise either while you're riding in lower gear. the bike is built to handle higher RPMs at lower gear.
@stonecold5373 I'm flattered 😊
im currently fixing ninja 250 and im going to learn how to ride it soon. you're giving me motivation as a fellow female rider!! 😃

I'm late to the party but you did an awesome job riding in traffic for the first time! way better than i did. I started riding 4 months ago too here in Australia and I've never looked back. Keep up the content I love it!
this video was so fun!! im working on getting my drivers license first, but i really really wanna be a biker after i get a car! its really inspiring to see girl bikers, especially since everytime i mentioned wanting one everyones just like, "oh you're gonna crash and die on a motorcycle" 😭😭 ill be subscribing !!!
Its so fun watching new people on bikes! Looking forward to watching the progress
So happy to see another person taking up the sport. Remember always practice safe riding positions and practices. Stuff like at 7:40 for example. Where you could cover your brakes with your pointer and middle finger in preparation for if that car didn't stop. As well as move to lane position 1 (I believe it's been a while since I've read some hard book stuff. but the left side of your lane) or even move to the left lane if no car is in the left lane. Seems super simple and easy to overlook but trust me someday there will be someone driving a car that's either in a rush, had a bad day, forgot their glasses at home or whatever reason and you always want to be prepared. the only person you can predict is yourself so just prepare for someone in a car, or even another biker for that matter, to do the absolute worst thing they can do and it will save you from a lot of potential accidents and hopefully keep you around and in the community until you pass of old age.
Love to see people come. Hate to see people go. That includes you and anyone else looking to ride
P.s. that was obviously just one example. There's plenty of other things you can do while still being able to use the whole sped-o-meter and have fun on your bike. Just can't go over all them in one comment without it being miles long lol
Well done and congrats on the start of your 2 wheel journey 🙂 looking forward to the next video 🏍
@@ProxyTapper thank you!!
Gonna hopefully start riding soon, taking my intro course in a few days and your content makes me feel a lot more confident about it and even more excited. Love from AZ!!!
That turn in the beginning is so funny. I am a fairly new rider, about a year in, and the amount of times early on I did that is insane. I think what really helped me get in control of my bike was the many, many hours I practiced in a parking lot doing turns, u-turns, maneuvers etc. I used to go to a mall (I should pick this back up) and practice until I couldn't feel my hands.
@@ethan5985 you’re dedicated! Its so fun to work hard for things

I kept chuckling in the beginning at you talking to yourself, but I do the same thing lol. You're doing great, and just remember the fundamentals, the basics you learned in the MSF course and you'll be fine.
Beginning was funny and exactly what I picture my first time being like 😂 instant subscription based on that.

Good job dude! You’re braver than me lol I haven’t gotten on the big roads yet. Just been riding around my neighborhood. Can’t wait for the updates
Just found this absolutely love the inner dialogue. This is exactly how I was in the beginning lol.
That’s exactly how you do it to stay safe. Filter. Stay ahead and away from the cars. Safest approach.
i hope this season was good to you!! i definitely remember those first ride jitters, great job working your way through them. If it hasnt been said yet, practice safer lane positioning - i feel like youre in the center or right tire track while in the right lane. and that youre really far right when turning right. take up more space, stay in the left tire track (or right when applicable), dont encourage cars to try to share the lane with you. if someone is really aggressive behind you, thats of course a different story. happy riding! my riding season is already done, hopefully your season isnt done quite yet in AZ
@@smoshlowen all great tips! AZ season is 365 days a year ☺️☺️ every day is riding day! If you can handle the 120°F heat!
Congrats on your new ninja. i just bought the 40th anniversary SE and it's gorgeous. i'm sure you're better at riding now a month after this video.
We need more women riders! There are too few and it's always great to see one on the road. And I think I heard you say Tempe somewhere towards the end. If you're in Phoenix area, it's amazing riding in the fall, winter, and spring! I live in Tucson and it's frickin gorgeous for riding. We have a 30 mile mountain highway in the Catalinas and it's incredible. Highly recommend it some day.
@@stonecold5373 yes the beginners course is so important! I wish it was a little longer than two days though and actually taught you how to ride on a real road and not just maneuvers. They really did not teach basics of shifting well IMO.
I am trying to afford a motorcycle licence right now, and watching this is so motivational. Keep making these videos!
Keep saving! You will get there i believe in u
Got my Z650 in September this year and I'll always be in love with Kawasaki-Bikes. I totally can relate to someone who starts riding a motorbike. Give yourself time and I recommend practising all the things you've learned in driving school and last but not least: ride as much as you can and enjoy 🥰
And as a sidenote: I use to talk to myself ('cause I' m so excited) while riding, too, haha 🤭 Thought I would be the only one 😊

seeing new girls ride is extrordianary, i cant ride for another year but i cant wait top get my lisence
Left or Right side of the lane! The middle is the most dangerous. All the fluids (like oil) leak on the middle of the road(bc cars tires travel on the sides of the lanes, where you should ride!)

Cool cool. You honestly didn't look too bad for a first time riding. I got my motorcycle license about the same time as you, but I was coming from class 3 e-bikes, and bought a Yamaha XMax, which is a "twist and go" scooter with a CVT automatic transmission, so I didn't have to learn to shift gears, and the rear brake is on the left hand grip rather than a pedal, which made it easier to get going, but I don't get to take off from the line the same way. Stay safe out there! :)
Kawi gang 💪🏽
Hi id like to make a small comment, gears are close together on that bike, owner manual will tell you, good rule of thum 6 gear at 70 km or for you about 45 miles per hour, and up .also remember always be in a gear, downshift in each gear, until you reach practice up and down like that
You are so much braver than me, girl but good job. The only thing I would watch which I’m sure you’re already gotten better at is being in such high gear with such low speed. I don’t want your RPMs to get mixed up. I did that a couple times and it caused my back tired to wobble and it was a little bit scary But great job on the big roads keep practicing mess around in a parking lot where you don’t have any other cars around please always look like people are gonna hit you. You made it through a couple close calls in that. Just assume they don’t see you because most of the time they don’t. ❤ I’ve been riding since July and things have gotten progressively easier. Can’t wait to see how you do.🎉
Please, never, ever, for any reason, turn your head backwards while driving... use your mirrors... blessings from Mexico city❤
You did GREAT 👍 I just got on 2 wheels going from a 3 wheeler and still learning myself. I am in Goodyear AZ also.....Ride Safe
This is your first ride?! You did amazing out there!! 🩷💛
at 20 minutes you shifted all the way down to first way to early.and held the clutch in you should be using your engine compression to brake the bike along with the brakes. just ease off the throttle and your engine will slow you down unless you get it tuned. so all in all dont pull in your clutch till your ready to downshift or upshift.
What if your coming to a stop/red light. For some reason I'm holding on to the clutch and use both brake on what ever gear I'm on?
Hello, hope you're enjoying your riding.
Mirrors, are they adjusted? Come on now, use them :-)
Those sleepy car drivers looking at their phones won't see you if you don't flash your orange signal indicators. Are you using them every time you turn, stop, change lane?
Approx 4 flashes before your movement, give yourself plenty of time for 4 flashes. Giving yourself time will mean you plan further ahead. So you look further ahead.
Look ahead, what do you see? Junctions, signs, parked vehicles, any moving vehicles that might cross your path, pedestrians?
There's a British biker lady who's completed the advanced training and she put her advanced exam ride on YT. She's called UsernameKate. You might find her advanced ride interesting and helpful. I did.
Wishing you success :-)
Yay more girl riders❤❤❤❤❤
Please please please girls and boys, don't start with a +400cc, much less try road traveling at first. It's better to begin with 150-300cc at best and take the road after a year of experience riding around the city. There are no airbags in bikes, your body is your windshield - so start safely and always pay attention.
Best gear is the gear that keeps the bike humming. Not screaming or putting along. each bike has a song, let her sing! Only caveat to this is residential and highway. I always choose the highest gear (for the speed) to keep the decibel level down in residential(3rd/4th gear) and to save gas on the highway(6th gear). Downshift to pass, unless your bike has enough power in 6th.
@@TheSleepieKing i like that !! “EACH BIKE HAS A SONG LET HER SING!!”

Yep, this is all normal. In about 6 months you will be used to it all, and it will all become natural and sub-conscious.
when I started out. I also tried to at a slow speed practice riding hands free to develop your core muscles.(helps with understanding and controlling the bike easier).
Also, A good time to make sure you also learn to keep a super hero level of situational awareness. Because people will break your space bubble and will get angry with you sometimes that THEY weren't paying attention responsibility.. Can't wait to see what you upload a year from now, lol! I love watching the learning phase into intermediate skill videos, they're always very interesting.
exact bike i'm looking at right now. These videos are great to watch before I get my one hahah.
No way we started basically same time :O
I actually took my msf course aug 1st (failed) then a week later got the EXACT bike I wanted AND my permit on the same day. Took the msf again a couple weeks ago and passed :D
Only thing I suck at now are quick stops and slow speed maneuvers.
I got the 2022 ninja 400
This is right down the street from me that’s crazy haha and I’m trying to get into motorcycles too!
Very cool to see👍🏻
Just a thought, but Ive always treated 6th gear as my "cruising the freeway" gear. Normal city riding (If I'm doing the speed limit) I don't usually go above 4th gear unless I get one one of the faster roads.
I got my first biker wave the other day shit made me happy as shit
@@chasexiii1523 WOOHOO
Just a suggestion from a soon to be 2 nd time msf hopefull grad, when staring off, from what my instructor taught me is that u stay up on the throttle (about 1/4 twist) and then let out clutch to the friction zone then when bike starts under its own power then gradually increase throttle dont “grab” just ease into it. Like driving stick for a car. I know I had that same damn issue 😉😜😜 but nice ride anyway 😊😊✌️✌️
It kinda looks like your dumping the clutch once you are moving, to shift up gears which can make it a rather jerky shift. You still want to ease the clutch out as you upshift but not as slow as when you are getting going in first gear.
in the uk youve got to start on a 125cc (15hp max) motorcycle. then you can go upto a 45 hp bike and after that you can ride unrestricted
That's the safe way to go, it always startles me to see people beginning with 600cc or more... no wonder there are so many accidents and mishaps :/
Use your mirrors, indicate, be prepared for car drivers who have blind spots when they pull out, watch for slippery drain covers, gravel on roads around corners..
Always look behind you when pulling away from kerbs, overtaking vehicles and especially if you decide to do a u turn in the road..
Kindest Regards, 😀😀😀
I'm pretty sure you might already know this one since it doesn't really pertain to motorcycles exclusively, when turning, turn into your own lane. I can understand the panic turn to the far left lane, however, this is reckless and could potentially cause an accident. Right lane turns in to the right and middle -> middle. Your safety matters even more when on a motorcycle.
I’m so jealous. 😂 need to get my license still…
Congratulations on your riding journey. be safe out there.
I have the same feeling that you have on riding too 😅 i talk a lot to the atmosphere as well 😂 keep on riding 🏍️ ninja rules

Motorcycling is going through a rough dying patch recently. We need more riders. We definitely need more female riders. The more of us there are, the safer we all are.
Ideally: Gender, age, wealth, etc should not stop us from getting on 2 wheels. We should all experience the freedom of biking before it's too late.

I envy people who live in warm places... it's winter, rain/snow, low temps making roads insanely slippery... all you can do is just wait
Wow, nice you got this bike....I'm a guy at 150lbs and am debating on this bike or the Ninja 400....what made you pick this vs. the 400?
Just ride your ride, man. Only pay attention to what others are doing, in respects to your safety. Nobody's opinion matters, who cares what you think they're saying..
Also when your RPM is flashing, it's the Ninja's way of telling you to upshift.
Don't worry about stalling, fuck man you will do it a lot until you get used to the bike.
Have fun and ride safe!
Nice bike!
I'm so happy to see you enjoying youreself on you're bike, but...
Pls release you're clutch when slowing down/shifting down. 40 mph in 1st is an accident waiting to happen..
Don't take turns with you're clutch pulled in, that gives you the least control of the bike..
Braking/hard braking.... use you're pinky first and then let the next finger's follow to pull in the brake lever, if using 4 finger braking. You would be amazed how hard you can brake..
Try to find (normal/not wheelie kids) biker's to follow and learn the ropes..
Being too carefull will only let you make more mistakes imho..
Have fun and drive save, i realy like seeing girls having fun on a bike... I have done over 200k Miles on a bike and lots of trackdays.. Made some mistakes myself and landed on my back, but i was being silly at the time. Expect the unexpected at any moment when driving on the road....
