In this one, I'm swapping out my original setup for a new one that includes Lian Li SL120 V2 fans, a Z790 motherboard and the latest and greatest Intel CPU. I made some mistakes along the way that I wanted to show so you don't. Hopefully you'll see that this is an awesome build and offers great performance.

      Honestly Mr Prawn, you inspired me to build my first ever PC which I am in the middle of right now and I cant thank you enough. I have watched so many of your videos and learnt everything from you, it is very much appreciated. I am currently building a 4090 with the i9 13900K in this same case, and one thing that interests me by this video, you swapped the black cables for those beautiful white cables from the GPU to the PSU, and the larger cable ( the 24 pin one from the PSU into the motherboard I believe its called). So I have the Z790E motherboard and the Corsair RM1000X PSU, Is it possible to get those white cables for these? I just want to be sure it is safe to use different cables. Thanks again! @TheProvokedPrawn

    Point to note at 22:12 for anyone doing a build where they need more usb headers. I had this same problem where my board only had 2. You can splice one cable into two. Just remove the cables pin, and put them in the same order red, green, yellow, white, black etc. in the empty hole on the cable you want to join, and you will be good to go :) They are designed to have two cables pass through that same header. This will save you the headache of trying to find a usb 2.0 splitter.

    I did a push pull setup with nzxt usb hub, 3 corsair controllers and the 2 lian li controllers and psu top mounted. I was barely able to close the case after almost giving up due to almost not being able to fit everything. It was only my 2nd build and I recommend planning everything out before installing anything. I ran into a few problems that would have saved me a lot of time and space. The advantage of having the psu top mount is I was able to throw a commander pro into the bottom of the case and two controllers on top of the psu and 1 controller in the drive cage. The main disadvantage was the 24 pin strimer was jammed into the psu cables output/input and those hard plastic ends don't bend. You mentioned planning ahead as well and it's really important when you have a lot of hardware. I wish there was a cable mod shorter psu cables set that cut the length in half for this case.

    I have the exact same complaints about the uni fans cables. The daisy chain cable is also bit short IMO. For example you wanna chain together the bottom and side intake fans and its complicated since the daisy chain connection is not in the middle of the fan but more on one end. So when you put bottom fans as intake the connector is more closer to the sidepanel than to the back and same thing happens to the side intake - the power connector is more closer to the motherboard than to the front panel and the daisy chain cable wont reach. Infinity fans had the connector in the middle for equal length and reversable cable direction - why make it worse? And in my case I'm talking about Lian Li Dynamic EVO case not some random XXXXXXL case. So all those reviews where it shows how the fans can be daisy chained are doing it on the table with very close distances and nothing in the way but when actually putting them into the case and starting to reroute them its not so easy anymore.
    The flat connector cable direction should be switcable. I mean the V2 fans are newer than infinity and those had reversable cable modules - why TF did Lian Li remove that possibility?
    And I 100% agree with power connector - since the power connector connects to the side of the fan it allready shortens the length right a way because you have to reroute it around the fan first and then through the grommet holes to the back. Its especially painful with the bottom fans because the cable connects to the fan facing the I/O and then you have to reroute it around the fan and back towards the middle fan and then through the hole to the back but in there you have to reroute it around PSU and its just not long enough. Yeah you could put the uni hub in front of PSU (if its regular length) but then the top fans connector wont reach. What would help to certain degree is a splitter that the infinity fan 3 pack contains but obviously we don't get that. What would also help is a extension cable but since lian li uses its own 7 pin connector there is no such thing. And ofcourse you can't purchase the splitter separately.
    So at the moment the damn thing works but its a complete mess in the backside with uni hub just dangling in air and cables barely reaching it. Massive dissapointment.

    Seems a bit odd to use so many M.2 drives. Why not just get a single larger drive using PCI-E 4 and then partition it for OS, files, and then games? You've no doubt spent just as much if not more money on multiple drives than you would on a single 2TB drive. Plus they'll collectively consume more power, add heat, and you've taken up all your slots so you have no more room for future expansion without replacing a drive. Not to mention the performance penalty of falling back to PCI-E 3. Having a single larger drive seems to make more sense. Love the overall build though. Looks beautiful!

    • @TheProvokedPrawn

      One is for the OS and software, another is for video files and another. And one is purely for games and the other is for gameplay footage. Nearly all the drives are full and I have a 20TB NAS. I need a lot of storage space for all the things I do. They also run at PCIe gen 4 x 4 speeds on this board as well.

At 19:55 you mention about going into the bios to disable the mb from changing fan speed or a pop up will happen during windows log in. Can you explain where to go exactly? I'm putting an NZXT Kraken 240 on an amd 7 7700x and I'll have a ROG Strix B650 in a 011 dynamic mini. I'll be putting lian li infinity fans in and plan to follow your other video in putting an ARGB splitter cable to control the rgb through L Connect 3 and then hopefully fingers crossed my NZXT AIO can control fan speed and run the AIO through the MB. Hey PP! great video and videos. I was so glad to find your video after having some difficulty with my build. turns out I have the exact same case, cooler, 9 fans and motherboard (AMD version for 7950x). my GPU is also same series but 3070 (this PC is built to process astrophotography and doesn't utilize any GPU processing for that). Here's the thing I got very excited when i saw you pull out the double white wire for power and RGB control at the top of your cooler run of fans but for some reason I couldn't find one in my box. Granted I did buy 3 times 3 packs because all the single fans were a week longer delivery. so maybe the dual cable came in a single box? Also, I had a fit of a time with getting all three to reach the controller. I ended up pulling forward my PSU and running it behind it and pulling the HDD cage out altogether. I am running 3 times 2TB firecuda 530s so i didnt need it anyway. Don't know if it is any benefit to you for me to respond to a 3 month old video but I wanted to share my gratitude and help if i could. CHEERS!

    So i got my V2's over the weekend, and loving that i got rid of 10 case fans x2 cables lol.
    Question, for my radiator which had 3 fan cables, i didn't plug anything, thus the readings from MSI Center for my AIO was zero.
    My question is connecting to Sync1 same thing as Port? so i can still manage my rgb from lconnect3?
    For exhaust i was thinking of doing the same thing, as the cable is so short for port connector and the orientation needs to be at the bottom if i want a nice sync on my case from exhaust to intake at bottom.

  • @micspamgod2324
    @micspamgod2324 Год назад

    Wait so you don’t have to plug the Daisy Chain cable into the motherboard at all? You take Fans > Daisy Chain Fan Cable and that’s it? The AIO_PUMP controls the AIO Fan speeds?
    Am I correct?
    UPDATE: Well I believe I’m correct, the daisy chain comes from the pump, it’s getting power from that and that’s all you need to power the Lian Li UNIFAN’s.
    NEW QUESTION: If the fans are ultimately being controlled via Pump’s speed… well how will it know to ramp down by default as pump’s default speed is 100%. This means those Lian Li fans on Radiator are going to be running 100% which is very annoying.
    Any thoughts?

I am unsure if this is the case for this exact board, as I cannot find the channel specs for it, but most of the high end ROG boards actually have the PCIe slot for the graphics card share a lane with one of the m.2 slots, meaning that it will drop from x16 mode to x8 and hamper performance by something like 2/3 in terms of data bandwidth.

    Hi, I wanted to thank you for your videos. This build is almost exaclty what I want to do and watching it has answered quite a few questions I had about using the Kraken in a build, but replacing the fans with Lian Li fans. I did want to ask you what software you use to run the LCD screen on the Kraken as well as all of the lighting in the build as I've been trying to research and figure this out. It's turinng into a rabbit hole. I've read posts indicating you can use CAM and SignalRGB together if CAM starts up after SIgnalRGB, but other posts that indicate CAM does not play well with other RGB software. I've also read that CAM does not currently have the ability to control RGB RAM. There is also a product called KrakenZPlayground, but I'm not sure if it works as well as CAM to control the AIO. I'm also guessing if I go down this road, I should try and find an older Z model and not use one of the newer Elite models as the compatibility may be even less with the newer models.
    Anyway, I'm really interested in what your solution was, here.

      If you have midrange GPU then its way easier with AIO on top but with high end GPU this is the best setup - also vertical mount for GPU. The thing is that high end GPU's generate a lot of heat and with the AIO on top the CPU temp also goes up. At the same time CPU's generate way less heat. Now one might ask "but you blow warm air into the case". Well yes and no. First of all the air from the CPU AIO aint that hot. Secondly the warm CPU air gets pretty much blown out of the case bacause of the bottom fans and doesn't reach other components. I have the same Lian Li case with exactly the same fan setup. I have tried different fan and AIO setups and also checked the air movement with the smoke machine.

    • @potvinsuks8730
      @potvinsuks8730 Год назад

      @Aur0n Agreed! Also, to back up your point, the absence of an AIO up top allows for even higher fan velocity pulling all that bottom air up and out as there's no rad interference.
      Also, it's much easier fitting a Push - Pull (should you go this way) on the side as opposed to the top (even in my XL Case.) and looks less cluttered.
