  • A fine sunny day and a small group gathered to run a mix of live steam engines (and a rail car) in various scales from 7/8" to 1:20.3 & 1:19 models of very different prototypes all on gauge 1 track.
In order of appearance are Darjeeling 0-4-0 0-4-0 Garratt, 0-4-0 Kerr Stuart saddle tank, Isle of Man Rail car, Talylllyn 'Dolgoch' 0-4-0 , Davenport 0-4-0 saddle tank, 'Ventnor' 0-6-0 saddle tank, all visiting loco's and finally my own D&RGW C-16 2-8-0 with a D&RGW "work" train out to repair some tracks.
After Covid lockdown this is our first steam up together for ages on my garden railway. As regards the ambient sounds of birds, people coughing and talking please just consider them a bonus as is the shaky camera work and some blurry vision but hope you all will enjoy the sights, we did !

Yeah, lots of fun having a "run-what-you-brung" steam up with friends running all scales and types.

Cool video! Are your steam locomotives fitted with slow mo devices by chance?

Glad you like the video. No "slow-mo" devices are fitted to any of the locomotives, with careful driving most engines can run slowly in 'manual' control. The Garratt was radio controlled but all the rest are using our fingers to set the valve gear and regulator.

I am planning an elevated garden railway and am very interested in your method of building your system. Would it be possible to get more information about how you construct your elevated roadbed? I know your railway has been dismantled but what materials did you use for the roadbed?

Hi, for more info on the layout construction go to this link at MyLargeScale and follow the conversation in this post I did on how I made it.

@@steamon45 thanks Russell for the information about how you built your railway. That is exactly what I am looking for.
