Elphinstone Reef Marsa Alam

Elphinstone is a 375m long offshore reef with drops that drop to over 100m. Elphinstone is one of the ten best diving spots in the world. The site has an abundance of soft corals and almost all types of marine life can be observed here. The reef slopes slightly to the north, resulting in a constant current over the northern and southern plateaus. These plateaus are an ideal place to catch a glimpse of various shark species such as Oceanic Whitetips, Scalloped Hammerheads, Whitetips, Gray Reef Sharks, Silvertips and Thresher Sharks. Elphinstone has oceanic whitetip sharks from September to November, scalloped hammerheads from June to August and manta rays in March and April.
