Personally I do not like expansions, they make the game more random and less skill dependant. In the base game resources are scarse and you need to think what is the most efficient way to get/use them, often taking something that is efficient but you wil need a few rounds later. Expansion on the other hand adds additional locations where you can get resources drecreasing the effect of scarcity. #this diminishes skill importance Expansions also adds new quest cards with (?) resources, further reducing scarcity. They also add quest cards with 40 points (25 points quests are greate, but 40 furthermore efficient), meaning players are now luck-dependant, whether they can get such quest. #this makes the game more random Best setup IMHO: 3 players, base game. (with 4-5 players mandatory quest cards become too impactful). Or can play friendly version without mandatory quest cards.
i never played this game, my first time will be tonight, round 1-4, take plot quest, if not then 20 point quests,if not then my lord quests, focus on getting quests and making buildings round4-8 , 20 points quests, if not then lord quests, avoid plot quests, focus on collecting resources and start doing quests all game tips, resources from buildings are better, water deep harbor is better than collecting resources from the map because it gives u a intrigue card for free ,because after that u can still play on the map , also focus on collecting resources that helps quests that my lord likes is better than going completely ramdom i believe
@@gracemcdaniel4221 i won, against a guy that even records results from his games, i think luck was on my side that day lol, but def helped this lil strategy of mine.
Excellent and very insightful commentary!
I'd love an updated version of this that takes into account the expansions and corruption. Is corruption worth getting?
Yes, because there are multiple ways to get rid of it, and the benefits for taking something that gives corruption usually has an immediate benefit
