Yep I've had skin cancer cut out 3 times and go to the dermatologist every quarter due to not being careful when I spent days in a kayak and canoe when I was young. Take care of yourself
Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed your no nonsense way of fishing!! Not many dude or bro comments!!! Thanks for sharing. Hope to see you in Rockport this spring!!!!!
i live in rockport and cant seem to catch fish but i am from oklahoma so this kayak fishing is new to me and i dont have a clue where to go i just paddle around asnd catch hard heads sucks so any pointers of what to use and where to go i use dead shrimp and been trying live croaker but no luck thank you for the awsome video
I catch 99% of the fish I land on artificial soft plastic lures. Dead shrimp is good when you can locate and throw into some areas where black drum or redfish are holding. But yeah, otherwise you’re gonna have a hard time avoiding the junk fish. 2.5” - 3.5” paddletail lures are very effective for me. Dependent on water clarity, or lack thereof, you’ll need to use different colors. Dark water, stick with darker lures or even chartreuse and Pearl white. Clear water, go as natural as possible - meaning don’t deviate too much from the color of bait you are seeing in the water. Redfish and trout alike will go after a natural mullet color almost always, but there are a lot of great (off the wall) colors that don’t mimic any baitfish native to these waters that work as well. My favorite spot also, I think you beat me there thurs the 18th, so I went to the other side of the bridge where the boats can't really get too, and was chasing bull reds!
@southtexasoutdoor5484 shhh, yeah water was dirty back there, but lost at least 25inch trout , caught two flounder they were all over the banks and then the bull reds, I released all the fish caught!
What a good fight that red put up. I’m doing a wade trip tomorrow and I’m hoping and praying I can hear the drag scream but also pray I don’t lose a fish like that
@@southtexasoutdoor5484 nice, I've wanted to yak fish out there for a long time but never seem to have the time between booked charters etc when in town. Moving to the area finally in a few months. Maybe I ll see y'all on the water sometime.
I am new to kayak fishing, but have boat fished all over CC and Port A..where do you launch your kayak in those areas? I am rigging up a Ascend 133T with a trailer for hauling it to that area. Any info you could share would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Grant, That was a great day on the water! My last trip there, in March, the wind kicked up as I was parking, up to 25 MPH. I put in anyway, in hopes of finding a wind break. MISTAKE! The water blew out of the cove & I got blown to & stuck on the flats. Too windy to pole out, so I had to get out & drag against the wind- got out to 2 ft water, peddled back to launch & called it a day. Bummed, but ready to head back down and give it another shot! Glad to see it being as productive as it should be!
Yikes man! Yeah that lake can be very unforgiving when the wind is howling. Luckily, tides have been high and wind moderate at most lately. Let me know when you get down this way!
@@Cleaningmotivation-c1f I mostly use a 3” paddle tail. I’d you have Instagram, look me up there. I post most of the lures I make and catch fish with. Also sell them 🙂 Stx_outdoor on Instagram.

Was definitely a heartbreaker. Hadn’t had that happen in a long time. And definitely not on an exposed hook jig head.

How do I get out to this spot from CC Texas
Open google maps and look up “Swan lake, Tx”. There’s a kayak launch north east of the actual lake.
So sorry. I meant south east!

Description says COPANO BAY but you're big red (best sound) looks like you're just outside of Swan Lake in Port Bay
Big red best sound? Swan lake is just off copano bay
Dang, those were nice fish! I also love that spot, but don't get there much as I live in Phoenix.
Where’s this if you don’t mind
Swan lake
@@southtexasoutdoor5484 I need to get dien there! It’s on my list. Been to port bay a few times
How far is it from the parking lot to the launch? Been looking to launch there but not sure if I can get my kayak all the way to the water by myself
It’s exactly 65 yards
It’s not a forgiving ground if you plan on dragging your kayak (hard packed clay/dirt) but if you have a dolly it’s not bad at all.
@@southtexasoutdoor5484 got it, thank you!
