Could I suggest you use high zddp oil for a rv8, valvoline vr1 20w50 is well regarded for flat tappet cams otherwise great work and good to see a classic being kept alive

Thank you for your comment! Yes I should but they were a bit more expensive so I went with a cheap one for one and then, maybe we’ll have to another oil swap if the car will run for longer than 30 sec 😅
      Cheers!

Americans are so obsessed with high zinc oil while the rest of the world says meh. My Series 3 Landy truly doesn't care what oil it gets. Any modern oil is 100% better than what was available in the 70s.

If the engine is hunting during idle its likely to be the butterfly in the injection system run some barium b12 put half in the tank and then put the other half straight through the injection unit at a high rpm but bear in mind it will smoke more than usual while it's working

Thank you sir! do you mean the product linked below? How should I put it straight in the injection unit?

Yes that's the stuff if you disconnect air intake at air filter box end and use the flexible hose that you remove from the filter box as a funnel tip it in a bit at a time but you will have to rev it while your adding the fluid or the engine will get bogged down and choke it's self out also make sure the flexible hose has no holes

You always want to refill a oil filter. According to the Land Rover shop manual the proper procedure for oil change step 1) drain old oil. 2) refill oil sump with oil. 3) remove old oil filter. 4)Install new prefilled oil filter. Reason is if the pick up tube and the oil filter are both empty or the oil filter is removed, and the oil is removed from the sump, the oil will drain out of the oil pump and it will lose its prime.
