Hopefully this video will give you an understanding on how to do this job. You can use SAE and Metric tools for this job. Be careful of Metric Imperial Bolts/Nuts threads if you need to replace something. Don't mix them up. You will mess up the threads. Thanks for watching!
Great video my daughter has a 08 aveo and I dont own a press was wondering what the whole piece is called so I dont need a press for anything and a website recommendation
Good video for someone doing this on their own. It is very important with this type of bearing to not put any pressure on the inner race when pressing it in to the knuckle. It will instantly destroy it. I put the bearing in the freezer for an hour before pressing it. I also put the hub in the freezer before pressing it back onto the knuckle as shown. Fortunately these knuckle assemblies are cheaper now. Down to about 85 a piece when bought in pairs.
The tie rods are held on by a locking nut. You melt the plastic off using a torch. I soaked mine ahead of time with creeping oil and had no problem breaking them loose.
just put a floor jack under the tierod end and lift up a little, thatll keep the stud from spinning, take the nut all the way off throw a spritz of oil on the threads and turn it back on a few turns an a wack from a hammer will pop the tie rod end out spin the nut off by hand
Didn't have to do half of the removal you did. Better to leave the hub on and try the bearing removal kit you mentioned with cups and everything you need. And since you said you never used the kit and had the press, what works for you is extra work (and expense) for everyone else. O'Reilly's auto has a zero charge on the removal/install kit if you buy the bearings from them (deposit it $425 but you get it all back). Or just buy the kit at Harbor freight for $119 if your going to do the job again (cheaper than his press was years ago). And if you use a little penitrating oil or at least some WD-40 on your nuts, bolts, fittings (even the bearing clip and sleeve itself (and let it soak in) you might not need to heat anything (could damage rubber and other parts with no need). Then if all that fails, you do what this guy does. Don't know about you but less work and cost (if possible) is my adage always!
Thanks for sharing! My Aveo needs work done and I don’t know anyone that can help and mechanics charge both arms and legs...wish I had the tools to do it myself 😞
Did you say the right thing if you watch a video on RUclips they make it seem so easy but is not easy I did mine and once you get the Baranof you got that little bear stuck in there and it is hard to get all but I got it
I don't even have an aveo I just like your videos. I had a trailblazer, you were helpful with that but I just think they're trash in the end :/ mine couldn't handle a 68 mile trip broke down on the interstate Anyways, thanks for the helpful content!!
instead of pushing the bearing out, couldnt you easily replace just the whole hub with the new bearing. Thats if you cant afford a 200 press, or don't use one enough to buy a press.
That jack is as old as PawPaw.... 2:40.. get a screwdriver and straighten the tab on the axel nut to make it easier on yourself....and the socket for the axel nut is 32mm... they're metric....
You can see from a mile away the old bearing inner was turning on the hub, why not replace it, instead of doing a patch job, in three months time you'll do it all over again, hopefully then a bearing and a HUB sir

Nice!!
You're a blessing. My local shop was trying to charge over a grand for parts and labor to fix my bearings. Your video knocked it to a 1/4 of the price
Nice!!
This was a great video to watch and very informative. Watching all the way from South Africa
Nice!!
thanks for the video...changed my front right bearing today...took me 7hrs...and yes, i had the bearing removal tool.
O my!~
Just got a hand me down aveo from my dad and I am going to have to do this to all four bearings.
watching from Houston tx
Great!
You don't have to pull the whole thing apart. They have bearing puller/press kits online. Makes it much easier.
pretty sure the rear bearings are hub/units only you just get the whole assembly no pressing needed

Good tip!!

What is the size of wheel hub nut wrench?
Top quality instruction video. Nicely done. Love the reference to doing jobs for beer money.
Nice!~

Thank you. I am verifying we have the tools. I need some grease and have to do this before something else happens for not doing it.
How old is that Jack? I have never seen anything like it, and I'm over 61 years old.
1940's

Nice!!!
Also mine was in northern part of the country
Is that Henry Ford’s floor jack ?
No.. Fred Flintstone's jack.👍
Where can you purchase the knuckle with the bearing already pressed in?
I badly needed the size number of front wheel bearing. Someone can tell me 🙏
where are you located? I'd like mine done
I don't even have an aveo I just like your videos. I had a trailblazer, you were helpful with that but I just think they're trash in the end :/ mine couldn't handle a 68 mile trip broke down on the interstate

You can’t buy the whole assembly for these cars, Atleast not that I have found
Looks great I appreciate the help
Hammers and new bearings=best enemies

2 years later.....still going NO issues...............
what kind of grease you are using on 23:22?
Hey try to get them sway bar links off originally from the factory. Lol. Lots of bull crap
👍
You should have replaced the hub, it's worn and will make noise immediately.
OK
idk really difficulte
That jack is too small for that car.
You mean to big ;D
Nic India.🇮🇳
At auto zone $15.00
O!
"you dont want to be hitting the end of the axle an messing up the threads" @ 8:12 then "now we'll just simply tap this axle right here" @ 14:02
I'm here to change a wheel bearing... not hear about the sunny day
you can do better that that!
at first i felt confident now i feel confident.. im gonna need a damn shop press ..crap..
Good luck!
