See im not alone i love me some gear and this game delivers sweet gear im lvl 24 and have seen shit loads of gear you wann dress a king they got that you like death knight they got that to wanna rock a massive club they got that wait 2 handers yup got that too bows are trash there i said it but swords axes hammers clubs and hundreds of skins and so far ive found 16 wepon styles sweet how it changes all your attack combos sweet game 10/10

I thought it was curious that he kept complaining about the fighting, yet his entire strategy was back up, long reaching charged attack, never follow up, and then roll backward again. It's difficult to take any critique seriously when the person isn't really engaging in fundamental game systems.
I personally think the healing system is fine. Cooking is a central mechanic in the game, there are bonfires everywhere. Food is abundant. If you don't want to engage with it that's not the game's fault. There also seems to be a farming minigame planned. If anyone wants estus so badly you can add a healing rune to your weapon. Its available from the enchant lady from the get go.
Asmon talking about how the camp fires and whispers should heal meanwhile refusing to simply make food is wild. Talking about how the developer is playing “mind games” with the player because he can’t figure out the combos right away. Trying to cheese fights because he says the enemies weapon is too big lmao. Saying stamina is an issue but not wanting to invest points in stamina. It’s just wild.
Yeah thought it was also pretty surprising coming from someone who has played all the fromsoftware games. Then I remembered the kind of build and playstyle he used in these games...
I’m sad that I reached the end of the EA main story. But it’s still cool that I can grind out the earlier areas and the rogue like dungeons in the end. Love this gem by Moon Studios.

One thing to note, you don't really need to invest too much HP if you ever play this game. Atleast during early access. If you have cursed ring and healing increase you already have really good sustain. Same goes as stamina, if you have stamina gain ring, you are already good to go.
i tried the game today and my GPU went instantly close to 80 degrees, i was like "huh"????...don't think i've ever been this close to 80 in any game, usually i play around 50-60, close to 70 if it's very demanding singe player game but 80 degrees on 60 fps lock is insane

This game has massive potential. The story and setting are super engaging even this early. The world interaction and combat is nothing like ever seen before in this genre. The fact that you can freely just move about the world over and up and down everything is refreshing compared to hamster wheel static movement procedural mazes. You search every corner with joy rather than annoyance. The combat is so many lightyears past where PoE and diablo are it's obnoxious. I seriously hope GGG and Blizzard learn from this game and fix their shit.
4:09:40 This really sums up my main concern about this game. It has a lot of grindy systems just to stretch out the playtime. The grind is very minor, but it adds up. Grinding for town building projects, for player housing, upgrading gear, enchanting, farming gear itself. It looks like the devs are gearing up for this to be some long term multiplayer game, and I personally think it's a big mistake. It's an awesome game. The art direction, design and the story that's already there are a real gem and it could become a cult classic if only the devs focused on making it a polished, smooth single player experience. In my opinion it has the potential to be a 10/10 single player game, but I just don't see it becoming a popular multiplayer, so all of those multiplayer like systems only detract from the single player experience and the enjoyment, especially in the long run.
The game still has only one chapter, the town is more fleshed out than the story progression that's why it feels grindy. You are supposed to level the town passively without worrying about it too much. It's just like your level, you can finish the current chapter with lv 15 20 comfortably but the cap is lv 30, same with the town.
Why wouldn’t you add that to an already great game to add replay value? The problem with single player games is that they spend so much time developing just for players to play 30 hours and be done with it.
3 player coop crucible will be very fun experience, think coop Path of exile mapping, thats fun. Game is really good. Watch when full release and coop is there. The weekly and grindy things are there for future multiplayer crucible. 4:28:33

It’s not a problem for single player games to only have 30-40 hours of content. Some people don’t need to put 500 hours into a game for it “to be worth it” or to be a good game.
You can play it on mouse and keyboard but the handling is soo difficult 😢 but what i don't like on controler is the way you have to position your fingers to get to charge your staff with magic and then use the same complicated move to use it with the enchantment on 😢.
The game is so different now, I am noticing. I just went through a bunch of the same areas with roughly the same gear, and my health just vanishes in comparison. Also, the blacksmith doesn’t sell copper bars any more, so no upgrades for my weapons.
outside of streamers and content creators, what drives people to opt into what is essentially a beta test trial that you have to pay money for? wouldnt it be so much nicer to just wait for the 1.0 release and enjoy the game with hopefully most of its kinks ironed out for your first time playing?
Why wait for a better first impression if you can have partial fun now, and more later too? Or even get invested in a game's future and enjoy the changes with new playthroughs.
The main reason is to play it with the incentive that you're actively partaking in bettering the game by testing and pointing out the bugs and other potential issues knowing in advance that the game is an unfinished product. The smaller price and early access is a sweet bonus when you know what you're getting yourself in to.
Steam should not allow game reviews until players have spent at least 5 to 10 hours in-game minimum. I've played nearly 35 hours and it's 9/10. Criticizing FPS performance on a GTX 1050 for a game boasting top-notch graphics, physics, and animations? cmon. Devs made 2 hotfixes and improved almost everything in 2 days. In short, this game is excellent go play it!
Imagine a shit game is released. Lets take BF2142. Hated on launch. Imagine now if you had to spend 5 to 10 hours BEFORE you could review it. Would suck pretty hard for that. Then you also can't refund. There are plenty of games that are far worse and majority of these would only have positive reviews because people might just not want to waste 5 to 10 hours on it before they're allowed to write a review it.
That is a terrible take. A lot of games are terrible and you don't need to spend hours upon hours to review it... Just because some people are slow on the uptake and need 5-10 hours to judge something doesn't mean everyone is that slow... Also, a lot refund the game (within 2-3 hours for the limit) and won't be spending that amount of time on the game, and often the reviews are helpful in avoiding wasting your money (or going through the refund process, which isn't guaranteed either)... If you aren't happy about the review score, spread awareness about filtering reviews by playtime instead of that overused smoothed-brained solution so many people angry that others don't love the same stuff as them (and are blindly protecting it, "white knighting" it) always scream about. And your comment about performance is hilarious. I remember a douchebag telling me what my setup was (i.e garbage) when I complained about a game's performance and the need for the devs to adress the very long standing issues (followed many "tips" from other players because performance issues were a known problem that white knight jerk-offs ignored as best they could with the "Well, it works for me so there just CANNOT be any problems", yeah, because we ALL experience EVERY single bug/issue a game has at the SAME time ALL the time, that's totally how it works)... I have a 3000 series Nvidia GPU with 32 gb RAM, 8 core CPU, 1Tb SSD (plus external storage when necessary), great PSU, cooling system and motherboard. Sometimes optimization just sucks in a game and people have a right to know. TLDR: your opinion is not only biased, it is just plain misplaced. This game could, of course, be good, but that is also dependent on taste. Simply because you like something or that something works for you does not mean it is the case for everybody else and others have a right to know and make their own informed opinions instead of only being able to read echo-chamber reviews (after-all, people that hated the game would have refunded it or stopped playing pretty quick, thus making your "5 to 10 hours" limitation a almost pure echo chamber).

Come on limitted healing items? lol. Estus are the one limited. In this game if you craft 9999 thousands healings you will be able to use all of them in a single fight. In exchange of having to collect, craft and save the em up.

For once an Asmongold sponsored video I do not agree with. This game is in a horrendous state especially if you have anything lower than a 4060. I'd normally ask why everyone's shilling this game so hard but it's pretty clear the devs are spending most of their money on sponsors, ads on 3rd party websites, other marketing attempts. You'd think with a game in its current state, they'd try to use that money more wisely. I beat the entire game, and all the side quests, and have 3 hours into the crucible. Along with all of the challenges, and rewards in 26 hours.... All in all it is a decent game with potential, but atm I wouldn't recommend it in the current state... Needs about a year to simmer...

The character level isn't extensive either weapons and stuff are levels 1,11,21 .There is 5 bosses one is behind weak roguelite gameplay just wait on this one for a bit.
healing only through consumables is a must because monsters don't respawn when you die. Why? Because since they don't respawn, the player is incentivised to not really mind death, they always make progress. Having you waste food and durability across tries it tries to hold you back. Dark souls style respawn when everything resets and you have limited heals forces you to actually learn the game
Actually really impressed with how you approached this game (so far, I'm up to 2:32:05) and patiently, coolly one-shotted the sewer boss, even if you did get insanely lucky with that first-time sword enchant! Nice work :)

Lots of farming is going to be implemented. This game isn't for you. Farming is going to be introduced for cooking. You build a homestead too. Crafting and building is a staple in games now and it's not going anywhere. It's here to stay! 🎉
Played the game in a vacuum and IMO the game is amazing, Asmon has a pretty good take and feedback. My feedback is just the performance in certain areas and excited for more Acts or story elements later on.
The healing stuff is annoying at the start, but after reaching the hub and began to forage a bit during doing Bounty quests, I gather a bunch of ingredients for cooking and upgrade weapon, by the time I finish the sewer I actually have to sell food to have place in my inventory. Asmon seem not grinding much for ingredients for this game.
23:10 reminded me of that one boss in DS1 i think its called capra demon or something. but that one is worse since theres also 2 dogs in the (already cramped) room 😂
It has enough room to move, just not enough to run away from the boss and heal. It's supposed to teach you to not panic and to time your heals. The dogs are the real problem, they are harder than the rest of the boss. And the runback is long enough to make it even more frustrating.
I like the parry timing in this game, you really have to parry as the swing is about to hit you and not as the enemy releases their attack. In souls games you can get used to predictive parrying where you know the enemies well and know exactly when to time them, but in this game enemies will switch up their animation speeds all the time so parrying is very much reactive and well... "git gud"-esque
So i played it for about 3-4 hours and i find it very controvertial for me. First few hours i spend to learn how to control my char (keyboard and mice is not good for this game at all) and how hitboxes are works here (broken for both enemies and player). I cleared first location fully, including rave-cave, and when i came to the first boss i found him easier than most of the side fights, just because his animations is predictable, he is slow and big, his location is huge, you cant fall from it and his dmg is the same or even less than average mobs. After upgrading my gear with all resources i gather, i beat second boss on the first try. Big, slow, predictable again. I am not the fastest player, but in most cases difficulties in learning this game was not because of my speed, but because of game's restrictions and conventions, wich feels artificial and not necessary. Ok, I agree, it’s nice when something that didn’t work out before starts to work out after some learning. But what next? Grind. And humiliate those who could not overcome themselves and the conventions of the game and broke on the first try, ofc. But serously? We can do it an any other game without high entry threshold, or with difficulties in the middle/end of the game. But from the start? For what? To feel like a member of the survivors club? And i am not even talking about soulslike roll-to-win fight style, wich i dont like at all. I think it was implemented cause of inability to properly introduce side steps, jumps and crouching in a fight, but why they copying that mechanincs over and over again? Yes, with such hitboxes you cant avoid hits properly with anything other than rolling, so maybe they should fix hitboxes? Big lad hits his big club from head to the ground but you cant just step side from it, you need to roll, loosing your stamina and ability to counter-attack effectively. And in that game he will hit like this 3 times in a row, so you need to roll 3 times, and than attack him once just to do it again 20 times to win. And running from him to drink some soup ofc. So your gaming expirience is all about learning animation cicles of every mob in a game, cause devs wants you to do exactly what they allow you to do and nothing more. And they punish you if you are not doing such. And all of this in a such good looking vertical lvl design and awesome art style. Controvertial, as i said.
I understand what you mean. I have sunk alot of hours into this game. First character wasn't good because I didn't know you couldn't respec attribute points. Once I learned the mobs moves and hit boxes I started to really enjoy it though. First boss is easy to parry. I find I barely parry in the crucible though. I do want to learn how though because the items based around parry have great potential if you are good at it. I think the let down is it's in early access. The game makes me want more but I'm stuck grinding and exploring weapons, rune abilities and builds (which require leveling a character each time😅)
If you wanna enjoy gaming again, dont go into any game expecting it to be the new "best" thing or a game that you fan devote all your time into. I tried it with wow. Poe. Diablo. Its just not a possibility. Enjoy a game till you don't enjoy it anymore then move on
Asmon starts the stream early, goes through his routine, finally plays the game but looks like he is bored. Stops the stream, returns after couple of hours, streams again, nails the game to the ground. I love this guy when his mind is in place. Respect for the man. Spot on feedback at the end, as always.
Looks super cool and there's a lot I like. Waiting for it to fully release. The sound design is really sticking out to me. It’s so rich. Good voice acting too. Solid writing, all things considered. I'm hoping one day enemies in armor and shields will actually feel like they have armor and a shield when fighting them. I say ‘no’ to the bonfires replenishing health.

I’m 8 hours in, it can use some work, no idea why they’d release this game in early access anyways. Using the great sword allows for a farther reach so that’s been a huge help in going places where I’m underleveled which is pretty much anywhere or whatever “dangerous” means but items are dropping for lvl 11+ 🤷♂️
to me, after beating the last boss, its harder to level your character because everywhere you go is dangerous and the loot has level restrictions above your level. still enjoy the challenge but progression feels slower imo

In my opinion it has the potential to be a 10/10 single player game, but I just don't see it becoming a popular multiplayer, so all of those multiplayer like systems only detract from the single player experience and the enjoyment, especially in the long run.
they don't care about making this a good singleplayer, just wait until later this year they'll probably be selling armor skins
The game still has only one chapter, the town is more fleshed out than the story progression that's why it feels grindy. You are supposed to level the town passively without worrying about it too much. It's just like your level, you can finish the current chapter with lv 15 20 comfortably but the cap is lv 30, same with the town.
Why wouldn’t you add that to an already great game to add replay value? The problem with single player games is that they spend so much time developing just for players to play 30 hours and be done with it.
3 player coop crucible will be very fun experience, think coop Path of exile mapping, thats fun.

It’s not a problem for single player games to only have 30-40 hours of content. Some people don’t need to put 500 hours into a game for it “to be worth it” or to be a good game.

The game is so different now, I am noticing. I just went through a bunch of the same areas with roughly the same gear, and my health just vanishes in comparison. Also, the blacksmith doesn’t sell copper bars any more, so no upgrades for my weapons.

outside of streamers and content creators, what drives people to opt into what is essentially a beta test trial that you have to pay money for? wouldnt it be so much nicer to just wait for the 1.0 release and enjoy the game with hopefully most of its kinks ironed out for your first time playing?
Why wait for a better first impression if you can have partial fun now, and more later too? Or even get invested in a game's future and enjoy the changes with new playthroughs.
Some people like getting in early especially if they see the game is fun now. Also games tend to increase in price after early access is finished.
The main reason is to play it with the incentive that you're actively partaking in bettering the game by testing and pointing out the bugs and other potential issues knowing in advance that the game is an unfinished product. The smaller price and early access is a sweet bonus when you know what you're getting yourself in to.
Why wait and pay more for it? Get it cheap in EA. Do you just prefer to pay a lot of money for stuff because you think it's better?
Steam should not allow game reviews until players have spent at least 5 to 10 hours in-game minimum.

Criticizing FPS performance on a GTX 1050 for a game boasting top-notch graphics, physics, and animations? cmon. Devs made 2 hotfixes and improved almost everything in 2 days. In short, this game is excellent go play it!
Imagine a shit game is released. Lets take BF2142. Hated on launch. Imagine now if you had to spend 5 to 10 hours BEFORE you could review it.

There are plenty of games that are far worse and majority of these would only have positive reviews because people might just not want to waste 5 to 10 hours on it before they're allowed to write a review it.

That is a terrible take. A lot of games are terrible and you don't need to spend hours upon hours to review it... Just because some people are slow on the uptake and need 5-10 hours to judge something doesn't mean everyone is that slow... Also, a lot refund the game (within 2-3 hours for the limit) and won't be spending that amount of time on the game, and often the reviews are helpful in avoiding wasting your money (or going through the refund process, which isn't guaranteed either)...
If you aren't happy about the review score, spread awareness about filtering reviews by playtime instead of that overused smoothed-brained solution so many people angry that others don't love the same stuff as them (and are blindly protecting it, "white knighting" it) always scream about.
And your comment about performance is hilarious. I remember a douchebag telling me what my setup was (i.e garbage) when I complained about a game's performance and the need for the devs to adress the very long standing issues (followed many "tips" from other players because performance issues were a known problem that white knight jerk-offs ignored as best they could with the "Well, it works for me so there just CANNOT be any problems", yeah, because we ALL experience EVERY single bug/issue a game has at the SAME time ALL the time, that's totally how it works)... I have a 3000 series Nvidia GPU with 32 gb RAM, 8 core CPU, 1Tb SSD (plus external storage when necessary), great PSU, cooling system and motherboard. Sometimes optimization just sucks in a game and people have a right to know.
TLDR: your opinion is not only biased, it is just plain misplaced. This game could, of course, be good, but that is also dependent on taste. Simply because you like something or that something works for you does not mean it is the case for everybody else and others have a right to know and make their own informed opinions instead of only being able to read echo-chamber reviews (after-all, people that hated the game would have refunded it or stopped playing pretty quick, thus making your "5 to 10 hours" limitation a almost pure echo chamber).

Come on limitted healing items? lol. Estus are the one limited. In this game if you craft 9999 thousands healings you will be able to use all of them in a single fight. In exchange of having to collect, craft and save the em up.

For once an Asmongold sponsored video I do not agree with. This game is in a horrendous state especially if you have anything lower than a 4060. I'd normally ask why everyone's shilling this game so hard but it's pretty clear the devs are spending most of their money on sponsors, ads on 3rd party websites, other marketing attempts. You'd think with a game in its current state, they'd try to use that money more wisely. Just put all this into perspective before you waste 40$ on this trash.

I beat the entire game, and all the side quests, and have 3 hours into the crucible. Along with all of the challenges, and rewards in 26 hours.... All in all it is a decent game with potential, but atm I wouldn't recommend it in the current state... Needs about a year to simmer...

The character level isn't extensive either weapons and stuff are levels 1,11,21 .There is 5 bosses one is behind weak roguelite gameplay just wait on this one for a bit.
healing only through consumables is a must because monsters don't respawn when you die. Why? Because since they don't respawn, the player is incentivised to not really mind death, they always make progress. Having you waste food and durability across tries it tries to hold you back. Dark souls style respawn when everything resets and you have limited heals forces you to actually learn the game

Actually really impressed with how you approached this game (so far, I'm up to 2:32:05) and patiently, coolly one-shotted the sewer boss, even if you did get insanely lucky with that first-time sword enchant! Nice work :)

Lots of farming is going to be implemented. This game isn't for you. Farming is going to be introduced for cooking. You build a homestead too. Crafting and building is a staple in games now and it's not going anywhere. It's here to stay! 🎉

Played the game in a vacuum and IMO the game is amazing, Asmon has a pretty good take and feedback. My feedback is just the performance in certain areas and excited for more Acts or story elements later on.
I’m still not on board until they get rid of durability-penalties for dying (in a game made to kill you many times).
The healing stuff is annoying at the start, but after reaching the hub and began to forage a bit during doing Bounty quests, I gather a bunch of ingredients for cooking and upgrade weapon, by the time I finish the sewer I actually have to sell food to have place in my inventory. Asmon seem not grinding much for ingredients for this game.

It has enough room to move, just not enough to run away from the boss and heal. It's supposed to teach you to not panic and to time your heals.
The dogs are the real problem, they are harder than the rest of the boss. And the runback is long enough to make it even more frustrating.

I like the parry timing in this game, you really have to parry as the swing is about to hit you and not as the enemy releases their attack. In souls games you can get used to predictive parrying where you know the enemies well and know exactly when to time them, but in this game enemies will switch up their animation speeds all the time so parrying is very much reactive and well... "git gud"-esque

This game changed my dog's life.
So i played it for about 3-4 hours and i find it very controvertial for me. First few hours i spend to learn how to control my char (keyboard and mice is not good for this game at all) and how hitboxes are works here (broken for both enemies and player). I cleared first location fully, including rave-cave, and when i came to the first boss i found him easier than most of the side fights, just because his animations is predictable, he is slow and big, his location is huge, you cant fall from it and his dmg is the same or even less than average mobs. After upgrading my gear with all resources i gather, i beat second boss on the first try. Big, slow, predictable again. I am not the fastest player, but in most cases difficulties in learning this game was not because of my speed, but because of game's restrictions and conventions, wich feels artificial and not necessary. Ok, I agree, it’s nice when something that didn’t work out before starts to work out after some learning. But what next? Grind. And humiliate those who could not overcome themselves and the conventions of the game and broke on the first try, ofc. But serously? We can do it an any other game without high entry threshold, or with difficulties in the middle/end of the game. But from the start? For what? To feel like a member of the survivors club?
And i am not even talking about soulslike roll-to-win fight style, wich i dont like at all. I think it was implemented cause of inability to properly introduce side steps, jumps and crouching in a fight, but why they copying that mechanincs over and over again? Yes, with such hitboxes you cant avoid hits properly with anything other than rolling, so maybe they should fix hitboxes? Big lad hits his big club from head to the ground but you cant just step side from it, you need to roll, loosing your stamina and ability to counter-attack effectively. And in that game he will hit like this 3 times in a row, so you need to roll 3 times, and than attack him once just to do it again 20 times to win. And running from him to drink some soup ofc. So your gaming expirience is all about learning animation cicles of every mob in a game, cause devs wants you to do exactly what they allow you to do and nothing more. And they punish you if you are not doing such.
And all of this in a such good looking vertical lvl design and awesome art style. Controvertial, as i said.
I understand what you mean. I have sunk alot of hours into this game. First character wasn't good because I didn't know you couldn't respec attribute points.
Once I learned the mobs moves and hit boxes I started to really enjoy it though.
First boss is easy to parry. I find I barely parry in the crucible though. I do want to learn how though because the items based around parry have great potential if you are good at it.
I think the let down is it's in early access. The game makes me want more but I'm stuck grinding and exploring weapons, rune abilities and builds (which require leveling a character each time😅)

Asmon starts the stream early, goes through his routine, finally plays the game but looks like he is bored. Stops the stream, returns after couple of hours, streams again, nails the game to the ground. I love this guy when his mind is in place. Respect for the man. Spot on feedback at the end, as always.

estus flasks are not nessesary. with two chars i had either a lifesteal weapon or two items with lifereg at lvl 14 isch and no heal needed anymore. maybe for bossfights

I’m 8 hours in, it can use some work, no idea why they’d release this game in early access anyways. Using the great sword allows for a farther reach so that’s been a huge help in going places where I’m underleveled which is pretty much anywhere or whatever “dangerous” means but items are dropping for lvl 11+ 🤷♂️
to me, after beating the last boss, its harder to level your character because everywhere you go is dangerous and the loot has level restrictions above your level. still enjoy the challenge but progression feels slower imo
