Absolutely agree on Harvey. What other investigator allows you to pay 3 XP to effectively remove their signature weakness from the deck (with Bulletproof Vest)? Now that Bizarre Diagnosis exists, you can also do this for 0 XP so. Also "Draw 1 card" doesn't sound that exciting, but it's actually incredible how much power and team support it brings. I actually quite enjoyed Parallel Daisy, but only with the Geared Up, play Schoffners and a million other tomes on turn 1 build...which they've now tabooed by limiting Geared Up to 5 cards, so I'll probably not play her again now.
It’s funny that I thought of playing parallel Jim in the opposite way. I built him to play as a dedicated fighter. He was able to handle his weakness consistently turn 1 from the playtests I’ve done. I haven’t done a campaign with him yet so I guess I’ll see what it’s like in reality.
Carolyn isn't actually a support she's a high-economy cluever. You abuse abilities that generate clues for horror like Alice and Field Agent and you pay for those same allies by abusing the fact that you can show up with mental trauma, heal your own mental trauma, and get paid for it, then keep getting paid for it over and over again. Funny enough, she's also one of the Guardians I think plays Dynamite best - you're already running healing, you have a very high economy, and you're not good at fighting otherwise. Also I adore Mandy, she's not AS good as Harvey but she's a character who can often get a bunch of actions squeezed into one action. I don't value her scry much at all though except as a vehicle to draw cards and hit Research payouts. But the fact that she gets a free draw action, with card selection, pretty much every turn if built right does a lot to mitigate her 50 card deck. She should be going through it twice as fast as everyone else, too.
I'm sorry I need that runic axe explanation explained a little simpler. So to imbue it with power once and accuracy twice then elders three times. You spent a total of 3 charges right? Or is my math and understanding of the card off?
Would you want to see more Mystic cards that use stats other than Willpower? Maybe that would make them less boring? And similarly, more Guardian cards that use other stats?
I don't really think using head to do X in mystic or killing dudes in guardian is boring. It's a little bit boring, but it's no different than using book to find clues in Seeker, really. I wouldn't mind seeing cards that do new things, but typically for every class that isn't Seeker, I just want to see old stuff further fleshed out and brought closer in power to seekers. Typically, if you print stuff that doesn't use head in mystics, most mystics don't get stronger. That's the main reason that I'm not super hyped about cards that break the mold for their classes.
@@RatherIncoherent Right. Just trying to think (with my limited experience with the game) what could make Mystic more interesting. Because I had a similar experience. Although I only played the first few cycles so far. But already I had the issue that every Mystic I was putting together had very similar decks especially when it came to clues and combat. What if they could amplify spells at the cost of something. Like costing more charges, to create a bigger powerplay factor? Or get a better way to go through their deck faster so they can go a bit more ham with their spells? Maybe interesting movement related spells that don't take up an Arcane slot? Or maybe their ability to toy around with doom should be expanded upon? Just brainstorming. I guess whatever they end up doing it will impact the current Mystic investigators and cardpool quite a bit.
I think players challenging on higher difficulty may see differently on some parts, but I, as someone who also mostly play in normal difficulty, felt we are mostly on the same boat. Except for Wendy, my clear favorite😂
I always forget this because his gimmick pushes him so far away from being a normal rogue that the restriction doesn't even matter, but yeah. There's a lot of extra nails in that coffin, just to make sure.
Tbh I've had a blast with Bandolier + Cyclopean Hammer Diana as third character. She had some flex-clues, but also could bonk some bad guys she drew off the Drawn to the Flame or Delve. We basically went balls-to-the-wall with hot-headed Diana drawing every single treachery, "I'll handle this one"-ing, and swinging her jolly hammer. Twas fun
Also, try Kymani with Leo, Stealth and Microscope, it's incredibly fun and rewards you for your useless evades. Fox Mask also makes it consistent and strong
Elaborate please. Edit: The elaboration is Scroll of Secrets (3) is basically 3 uses of Gloria and Seeker can cycle them or refill them. I, uh, don't like this. I don't like this existing. We need less Gloria, and I just found out that every Seeker has Gloria at home.
Rest assured, you aren't alone in having Kymani make you sad. I'm going flex Kymani in my next campaign and proxying Fox Mask, with 2 campaigns of Kymani experience behind the deck plan. I'm desperately hoping that it performs well enough I can at least get them to the bottom of my B tier for the next tier list.
I'm with you on Harvey train ever since he came out. Can't believe people online still bitch how weak is he and keep saying the same stupid shit all the time which is: "he's a boring old white dude and that's why i don't like him", which just shows me couple of things you're not allowed to say online or you get banned, but also shows me they suck at this game and have no idea how to build a deck lol. He's a monster, and since starter decks came out it was clear Jacqueline and Harvey were so OP and clearly the strongest out of 5, but somehow people still rank Wini and Stella out of their preference above them.
What? It's effectively 2x 4.5 exp cards, but that's not even my main gripe with this. It vastly outperforms any other way I could be fighting (or flexing in the characters that make the elders axe work). I can spend 12 exp on flamethrowers and have a more difficult upgrade path that wants more support and usually performs worse.
I love parallel Wendy exactly because you have like 300 different builds with her. And honestly, she is probably the most OP investigator in the game, her ability is nuts in so many levels it doesn't even make sense, normal Wendy has nothing on her. I avoid playing her, despite loving the character, exactly cause her power level is so high she trivializes the game, the amount of basically insta successes you have by simply combining her investigator ability and a, ancient covenant is a game changer.
My goal IS to make my name a lie, to be fair. I just recognize I have a habit of saying like 20 times in the 10 minutes it takes me to explain why Rogues need Fox Mask lol.
Our group play with all investigators except Stella and Kymani. We are christians, and don't want to confuse our kids. We play with Calvin and Daniela though.
@@Loremaster1000 Yeah pretty much is, except across minorities I guess. Mf thinks its ok to be transphobic if you play with black characters in a game.
@@XxjazzperxX Calvin is gay and Daniela is a lesbian, so I think Eric is implying that while he’s okay with his kids knowing that gay people exist, he’s worried that they could get “confused” if they find out about trans/non-binary people. These sort of takes have always confused me. Personally, I don’t know a single cisgender person who was “confused” or made trans by seeing a trans character in a game. As a person who isn’t trans myself, I can’t imagine being convinced that I was by an Arkham Horror character. Makes me wonder if the people who are afraid of “confusing their kids” perhaps aren’t that confidant in their own gender identity. 🤷
@@shaxberd7211 Ah ok yeah that makes more sense. Of course it doesn't make sense, its completely insane. Kids don't get confused about these things they simply don't care. I think Eric is afraid they won't conform to gender norms, if they find out it's ok for a boy to wear pink. God forbid a kid can express themselves how they like and be happy lol

52:10 I guess building a deck for Joe is... an Unsolved Case!
Ehhh??? Ehhh????!!!
Much like the real unsolved case, I'm only paying 2 resources because I've got no clues.
Or maybe a turn one Unsolved Case on a Geared Up deck.
