Hey Mark, there’s an instrument native to Cuba called the Tres(three). The picking pattern and mojo(tumbao) is exactly what you’re describing. Obviously Cuban music is very different, mostly due to the fact that the rhythm and swing is dictated by the Clavé(2/3 or 3/2) so it’s very syncopated by I thought the parallels are very interesting. Considering the 3 strings and the fact that it’s made out of a cigar box, we love our cigars lol.

Did you build that guitar and if so did you split the coils on that lace pickup, I'm trying to figure out how to wire it and incorporate a volume switch.

Addin' some WEAR marks on your guitar Uncle Mark....a REAL workin' man's Guitar!!! Looks Great!!! Sounds even Better!!! I've worn through the paper cover on my Cigar Box Guitar and it's covered in signatures....just makes it SEEM to sound better!!! The more you play 'em, the Better they sound!!!!
