Though, years later the Admins on the page saw how shitty the pasta actually was and put it on the troll page. Fun fact: The creator of the story complaint about it being send to the troll page, as it was "disrespectfull towards his Masterpiece." (Yes, he actually called his own work a Masterpiece. In order to let you save precious time I'll summarise the story for you. One day some kid name Tom was playin sonic games, then he got a letter from his friend Kyle (who he hasn't heard from in a while). In the letter, there was a CD (or DVD, can't remember) that only had Sonic.EXE written on it along with note written by Kyle who begs to Tom to not play the game and to destroy the CD. Tom being the good friend that he's known to be chooses to ignores his friends request to destroy the CD and plays it as he is a *big* sonic fan after all. He boots up the CD to see the menu to be the same as the first Sonic game but when he presses start it becomes all messed up for a split section with sonic and the red bloody eyes. The main menu appears showing only Tails, Knuckles and Eggman but no Sonic, he chooses Tails as he's the only one playable for now and hears an evil laughter (which he says sounds like some guy from a final fantasy game) and starts the level to find a barebones version of greenhill zone. He continues walking to the right only to come across a group of mutilated animals and later sonic who is standing by himself, when approached sonic opens his eyes revealing the bloody eyes mentioned earlier and then Tails is transported to a version of greenhillzone that is on fire he continues moving forward until sonic starts chasing him from behind with the drowning music playing on the background, he then proceeds to kill tails then making the screen fade to black. he's taken back to the main menu where tails is now unselectable and is shown to be pale with black eyes and red pupils. Tom chooses Knuckles next and basically the same stuff happens he walks to the right for a but, sonic appears, he does something, sonic kills knuckles and goes back to the title screen, the same happens with eggman. after eggman is killed the screen fades and then shows a quote "Hyper-realistic version" of sonic with the black bloodied eyes accompanying with the text 'I am God' The screen then goes to static again and the computer then gets blown up or destroyed (or was it the monitor? i dont know or care). Tom is at first reliefed but then hears someone saying behind him "Try to keep this interesting for me Tom", once he turns around he sees the most horrific thing he could ever imagine... a sonic plush with black eyes, red pupils and blood coming out of them. The End Now I did miss some details but if you want to read the full thing (which in that case, why?) just listen to someones reading of it online

Sonic.exe, as horrible as it was, was made with 100% serious intent of being a horror story. It was moved to the trollpasta wiki after enough people wisened up to how laughably bad it was, but for a long while a lot of people thought it was genuinely scary, inspiring the game version. The creator of the "creepy"pasta had a full-out rage fit in the form of a written rant when their story was moved, and it's honestly a pretty funny read.
I actually told him that, and how the creator had a huge hissy fit when it was removed from the creepypasta wiki, but I deleted that account, so there's no proof anymore. Should've thought of that. HE EVEN RESPONDED! XP
I don't see how he was in the wrong for complaining though? I'd be pissed too if I worked hard on writing a story only for it to not be taken seriously and treated like it was shit to be made fun of. I mean yeah, I agree the sonic.exe story isn't that great and it's not very scary, but moving it to the trollpasta wiki is just a full on dick move. I haven't seen the guys rant, but I don't blame him for reacting negatively to that. The trollpasta wiki is soley meant for creepypastas that are INTENTIONALLY bad, so not only was it douchey to move it there, but just blatantly wrong as well.
The original Sonic.exe was trash in terms of gameplay and story. It was more like an interactive slide show than an actual game. Sonic.exe Nightmare Beginning, on the other hand, is fun, and you can actually save the characters instead of just boringly watching them die. There is an actual hide and seek section for Tails (Hide and Seek Act 2) where you have to hide until Sonic.exe jumps into one of the gray rings, turning it blue for a few seconds, in which you need to dash into it to win. If Sonic.exe looks at a ring, it turns red, and jumping into it will put you in a race as Sonic.exe, where Tails dies no matter what. There are many endings to this game, too! There is also a sequel coming out, called Sally.exe Continued Nightmare, where it is an improved version of Sally.exe, in which you can also save the characters, too! (Amy's level has a chaos emerald, and to win, you have to avoid the goal spheres, and find a gap in the wall and roll out of it)

An interesting thing about jumpscares without substance is they can be creepy, but the fact that they're so short, and just a scream takes away the effect. The one from Help Me is so shocking because of how it's presented. The sharp scream, followed by swirls of "creepy" images assisted by the continuous scream adds a sense of "oh shit".

Actually, the Creepypasta to Sonic.exe was meant to be serious, it was on the main site for a long time and got a lot of fans, wich was the original reason for the creation of the game. Though, years later the Admins on the page saw how shitty the pasta actually was and put it on the troll page.
Fun fact: The creator of the story complaint about it being send to the troll page, as it was "disrespectfull towards his Masterpiece." (Yes, he actually called his own work a Masterpiece. How low can you sink?)

Sonic.exe was not a trollpasta. It was written seriously but was so stupid it was moved to the Trollpasta wiki. Then the writter got mad that his "masterpiece" was laughed at
how fucking bad was it? i kinda wanna know, any place where i can get to laught at this tryhard trash?
In order to let you save precious time I'll summarise the story for you.
One day some kid name Tom was playin sonic games, then he got a letter from his friend Kyle (who he hasn't heard from in a while). In the letter, there was a CD (or DVD, can't remember) that only had Sonic.EXE written on it along with note written by Kyle who begs to Tom to not play the game and to destroy the CD. Tom being the good friend that he's known to be chooses to ignores his friends request to destroy the CD and plays it as he is a *big* sonic fan after all. He boots up the CD to see the menu to be the same as the first Sonic game but when he presses start it becomes all messed up for a split section with sonic and the red bloody eyes. The main menu appears showing only Tails, Knuckles and Eggman but no Sonic, he chooses Tails as he's the only one playable for now and hears an evil laughter (which he says sounds like some guy from a final fantasy game) and starts the level to find a barebones version of greenhill zone. He continues walking to the right only to come across a group of mutilated animals and later sonic who is standing by himself, when approached sonic opens his eyes revealing the bloody eyes mentioned earlier and then Tails is transported to a version of greenhillzone that is on fire he continues moving forward until sonic starts chasing him from behind with the drowning music playing on the background, he then proceeds to kill tails then making the screen fade to black. he's taken back to the main menu where tails is now unselectable and is shown to be pale with black eyes and red pupils. Tom chooses Knuckles next and basically the same stuff happens he walks to the right for a but, sonic appears, he does something, sonic kills knuckles and goes back to the title screen, the same happens with eggman. after eggman is killed the screen fades and then shows a quote "Hyper-realistic version" of sonic with the black bloodied eyes accompanying with the text 'I am God' The screen then goes to static again and the computer then gets blown up or destroyed (or was it the monitor? i dont know or care). Tom is at first reliefed but then hears someone saying behind him "Try to keep this interesting for me Tom", once he turns around he sees the most horrific thing he could ever imagine... a sonic plush with black eyes, red pupils and blood coming out of them. The End
Now I did miss some details but if you want to read the full thing (which in that case, why?) just listen to someones reading of it online

Sonic.exe, as horrible as it was, was made with 100% serious intent of being a horror story. It was moved to the trollpasta wiki after enough people wisened up to how laughably bad it was, but for a long while a lot of people thought it was genuinely scary, inspiring the game version. The creator of the "creepy"pasta had a full-out rage fit in the form of a written rant when their story was moved, and it's honestly a pretty funny read.

The original Sonic.exe was trash in terms of gameplay and story. It was more like an interactive slide show than an actual game. Sonic.exe Nightmare Beginning, on the other hand, is fun, and you can actually save the characters instead of just boringly watching them die. There is an actual hide and seek section for Tails (Hide and Seek Act 2) where you have to hide until Sonic.exe jumps into one of the gray rings, turning it blue for a few seconds, in which you need to dash into it to win. If Sonic.exe looks at a ring, it turns red, and jumping into it will put you in a race as Sonic.exe, where Tails dies no matter what. There are many endings to this game, too! There is also a sequel coming out, called Sally.exe Continued Nightmare, where it is an improved version of Sally.exe, in which you can also save the characters, too! (Amy's level has a chaos emerald, and to win, you have to avoid the goal spheres, and find a gap in the wall and roll out of it)

An interesting thing about jumpscares without substance is they can be creepy, but the fact that they're so short, and just a scream takes away the effect. The one from Help Me is so shocking because of how it's presented. The sharp scream, followed by swirls of "creepy" images assisted by the continuous scream adds a sense of "oh shit".
